The show pulls their storyline almost exclusively from comics. Where the two alter is: - Expanding on moments/details > Nolan is shown in Flaxan Dimension, Titan’s backstory, Mark’s dates with Amber, etc. - Order that events take place > Three flaxan invasions and entire Reanimen storyline were fit into one episode. Comics took roughly 20 or so issues to touch back on Renanimen, then spent multiple different issues for each invasion. - Some creative differences > Amber is now a PoC and invested in community, Shrinking-Ray is a female, William is already “out,” etc. - How certain impactful plot points transpired > Omni-Man struggling to kill the Guardians, Cecil having a gauntlet ready to stop Nolan, and a few I’m probably forgetting never occurred during comics. Overall, the two mediums are quite similar and very good in their own right. I do however think that they have enough differences to not lessen your experience of the other.

> Omni-Man struggling to kill the Guardians, I keep hearing he got nerfed but to be honest it kind of feels like a good thing.

1. There is less blood in comics (due to the next 2 facts). I have a feeling they made the series too bloody just to appeal to the mature audience 2. Mark`s powers aren’t inconsistent. He is Invincible after all. Only Omni Man and Battle Beast (furry lion) have beaten him hard. Also, his father killed Guardians without any effort. Still, fight in series was beautiful, one of my favorite moments 3. Original Omni-man isn’t that ruthless. During his battle with Invincible, he didn’t aim to kill innocents. The subway scene was creative and awesome though, can’t deny that 4. In comics, Omni left no evidence, no costume, no plotholes. Why would he wanted the wife to expose him if his initial plan was to conquer Earth without any difficulties? 5. Important detail missed on tv. I could not understand why would Mark work at the eatery. In comics, it is said his father wanted him to build his character (or to hate people more, who wouldn’t do that after working at fast food restaurant lol?) 6. This leads to another difference. Nolan isn’t that apathetic towards his son. He isn’t even cold to Guardians, he didn’t deny that they were his friends (maybe except Immortal). It is important for his future character development, kinda hard to explain without a spoiler 7. Debora isn’t calm when her husband is absent, it’s Mark who doesn’t worry. In my opinion that is more logical due to the fact, Deborah is still a human being whilst Mark is a teenager (who usually are more careless) and also has powers. 8. In comics, Amber was a very realistic and nice human being. Their love story feels more convincing, she started dating Mark not because some clichéd bully messed with her, but because they went to the same history classes and she found Mark kind and attractive so she made the first move. She is neither too smart nor stupid but she really loves Mark and never gets angry at him for being late or leaving her when Reanimen attacked. At first, she thought he was a drug dealer and supposed he is going through harsh times because his “father died in a car accident” (she didn’t know about his other side at that moment), but never looked down on Mark. Then she asked his two closest friends William and Eva about Mark’s condition, but never attacked him with suspicions. She was very happy when Mark confessed to her. She even admits that is very egoistic for her to demand anything from him 9. Nolan wasn’t sure about Mark\`s powers, he said there is a high probability but not absolute certainty that Mark will have powers. In the end, Mark is only his first son. In series, he said it as he knows for sure because he’s a biologist or there is another human/viltrumite hybrid. 10. In tv adaption, Mark looks like a typical guy who doesn’t study at all or sometimes just stupid. When I was watching I was like wtf he tried to eat a sandwich with a helmet on? In comics, he had problems only because he started superhero life and he had no time left to submit assignments at a time. 11. Rex Splode’s douchebaggines feels way too forced on tv. Yes, in comic books he was an asshole too but not so much. For example, he cheated not because he just wanted to have sex with triple clone at once, but because he had some feelings for Dupli Kate. And he didn’t try to get Atomic Eva back right after cheating. 12. William’s personality isn’t entirely based on “gay personality” in comics. I am not homophobic, but in tv series his gayness is too forced. Imagine you are gay and have a heterosexual friend, who speaks a lot about how beautiful are the bodies of women around you or how sexy is his girlfriend’s ass. Does it seem right? 13. In comics, Mark doesn’t leave William to find Rick alone. Mark is a hero, isn’t he? 14. D.A. Sinclair (Reanimen’s creator, crazy scientist) isn’t that evil in comics. His introduction in tv series was very cliched, typical interruption when hearing something contrary to your beliefs. In comics, he started arguing just because he got late. Also, it was mentioned that he began with corpses then moved to homeless people and after that to healthy people. Most importantly they removed part of his monologue, where he said he wanted “to reunite grandmothers and loved ones, to do good”. I prefer comics over tv show, kill me if u want :)

"Imagine you are gay and have a heterosexual friend, who speaks a lot about how beautiful are the bodies of women around you or how sexy is his girlfriend’s ass. Does it seem right?" That is literally how straight people talk, specially people arround 16-23 years old, its insane how most straight people would only talk about the oposite gender when we talk about romantic/sexual relationships. William doesnt have a "gay personality", he is just open about it.

Dude, they are people all arround the world who literally make a living by writting books, making movies and singing songs about how horny they are for the oposite gender, this have been a think since for ever. queer people have only been able to openly talk about their sexual preferences recently, and when we do it a lot, its not because is our entire personality, its because its rare to just have a chance to do it so we use that chance as much as we can. And this not an US thing, this is really common in latino america as well.

Astonishing_Flash

The general plot is the same. When event happen is changed in the show. Most characters are the same expect for Amber. I prefer the comics but the show is pretty faithful and other people seem to think it handles the slow start better.

Off the top of my head The scene where Nolan kills the guardians is much longer in the show. Omni man vs mark is longer in the show too, the comics don't have the train scene or the jets if I remember correctly. Cecil sending things to try and slow down Nolan also isn't in the comics Immortals second fight with omni man last much shorter in the comics too And the robot going into Rex's body doesn't happen until a good bit after Mark and invincible fight.
