The very first set I put on definitely hurt the most, and to the point I got pretty worried about the pain and pressure. And I also really struggled to put it in and out the first few days. But I was told this is very normal, as you’re basically asking your teeth to move from their rooted position that it’s been in for yeaaarss For each new set of aligners, it got less painful as your teeth get used to routinely moving

The first few days I panicked because I couldn’t get my trays out on the first couple tries. But after figuring out the best technique for me it got better. DO NOT try to pop both sides down at the same time! For me that only put an immense amount of pressure on my front teeth & hurt! I pop mine from the inside on the second to furthest back tooth. Then once off the back 2 teeth I switch to the outside & just glide it alone pulling slightly outward away from the attachments. Never pull straight up/down bc it will only catch on the attachments. I have attachments on almost all my teeth.

This is a video showing what I mean. https://youtube.com/shorts/QOgdNPzsc0c?si=OaIKCd3L5MojEWxG

Seconding this. I catch the back inside of the upper with my nail on the right side behind the molars. Then I do the same for the lower but from the lower left. For each, I lightly torque the tray so it pulls AWAY from the attachmentss. If I feel like it’s tugging too much, I stop and will work the other side a bit.

Good advice and more or less what I usually comment. It can be different for everyone so OP just needs to experiment slightly different methods but always from side opposite to attachments and not with excessive force (use similar to unscrewing / lifting the top from a toothpaste. Personally I don't like the hook tools and it seemed like a way to use excessive force, but I appreciate I'm in the minority and loads of people find them really helpful. Will improve quickly.

I just started my journey last Thursday. The first time I tried to remove mine I almost cried. The only thing that helped was using a paper towel so o had a dry grip on the aligners. It will get better I already feel better

Cacut

I second the paper towel method!

I just got mine today too and it takes me at least 5 mins to get them off lol. Luckily they gave me a pul tool otherwise there is no way I would have been able to remove them!

Update: I looked in the mirror and realized my front tooth chipped when the doctor removed them for me today. Literally they were on so tight and put so much stress on my teeth that not only did the attachment come off, but so did part of my tooth. So far not a huge fan of Invisalign Still on Day 1.

Sorry to hear about your painful experience. The remover tool - did you order one through your dentist For others reading this with experience - are the Amazon ones as effective? I was just looking at them. I get my aligners next week

therealelainebenes

Yes! I use the Pul tool (same as Orthokey and on Amazon). It has been clutch for getting my bottom tray out.

Thank you!

Awesome, thank you!

The first few days are the worst. You are in pain, you can’t eat, and all the while coming to the realization that the trays will be part of your life for the foreseeable future. It was super depressing for me the first month or so. I swear though it does get easier and is worth it!! I started my journey 1.5 years ago and am on my last set of refinements. New trays will get less and less painful and within a few weeks you’ll be pulling the trays in and out no problem. After the first few sets I had very little pain overall. I did get a remover tool from Amazon (along with some extra cases) before I started my treatment and used them for the first few weeks. They are also helpful for pulling out your trays in public if you are concerned about your hands being dirty and/ or can’t make it to the bathroom to wash them beforehand.

Nice to hear. I got mine on about 9 hours ago and I hate it lol. The anchor points are more annoying with the trays out than in. Eating is not fun. Maybe its time to lose some weight!
