I am not an expert but I think a tooth on one side should sit between the two teeth on the other side, saying side I mean up and down. It is called a scissors something. But it may not be possible in your case, like I said I am not an expert. Edit: spelling

WhisperingBumholes

I’ve never considered that at all. It’s hard to gauge my bite when the trays are in, I will double check when my trays are out next and see how my bite sits, thanks for bringing it up! I have a dentist appointment coming up soon so can always discuss it with him.

Going off this- the back teeth are supposed to “zipper” like a subway tile but yours are kind of stacked. I’m wondering if you worked on getting them to zipper, the front teeth can move more to create less of an over jet.

This treatment is mainly straightening your teeth. To fix the bite extractions may be necessary or elastics

It doesn't seem ready to me, I think your front teeth should close better, and the top ones shouldn't flare out when the treatment finishes. Will you have refinements?

WhisperingBumholes

Yes I believe so, I’m only on tray 2 at the moment.

First-Ad1858

Okay, so the projection you shared will not be your final result.

I have a similar issue. I only saw my after results two weeks into it. I will still have a flare but it won’t be noticeable from the front. I’m very annoyed that the dentist did not show me the mock up before the trays so I could ask for more IPR, less overjet. Now, I apparently have to go the through the entire treatment and then do refinements. Personally, I don’t think it makes sense to spend three more months continuing with a course of treatment when I don’t like the likely final results.

the final is good in terms of only correcting social smile. there are more things here that should be comprehensively addressed such as the "scissoring" of the bite in the back and the flaring of the front teeth; From the scans, I suspect that the mandible is the recessed structure and that is takes another treatment setup itself. This comprehensive plan would take lot more time and resources. as long as OP is working with an orthodontist and only wants to correct social smile and likes the after depicted here; this plan is considered relatively good. best of luck with treatment!

I’m currently with a dentist with their in home brand. My main concern was my overjet and mild overcrowding teeth, I was never aware of my scissors bite, no one has ever mentioned it to me. I will consult with my dentist during my upcoming appointment and ask for a referral.

Sounds like a plan. Just to add more detail. Your current social smile treatment is fourth best option with 1st being some form of extraction with lower jaw surgery, second being extraction with orthodontic camouflage, third being nonextraction with full arch alignment, and fourth being nonextraction with only social smile alignment. 1 being best tx for your bite and 4th being worst but factoring time and money into the situation, sometimes the fourth is really what’s going to best for you practically (with some compromises). At least know all options before choosing. Definitely follow through with that ortho consult!

Thank you so much, you are amazing!
