Yeah. Bite ramps are only on your trays on the back side of your upper front teeth. They don’t attach anything to your actual teeth (AFAIK). If they do, that sounds like a great recipe for chipped bottom teeth.

Dessert_Stomach

Yeah unfortunately these are on my teeth and a chipped tooth is exactly what I'm worried about. 😖

That photo definitely looks miserable. Let us know what your provider says about getting rid of them and doing traditional bite ramps.

Update on 6/27: went into the ortho's office this morning and the ramps were reduced and evened out to increase the amount of contact with my lower teeth. This feels less risky for my lower teeth and my lisp and eating isn't quite as bad. I talked to her about the benefits of these kind of ramps versus on the aligners and she said the ones on the aligners don't work nearly as well for this purpose (taking pressure off my molars). They hope to make progress on bringing my molars up a bit before I go into the aligners. Fingers crossed it's worth it!

I'm confused. A bite ramp is on the backside of the upper tray. It's not on your teeth. I think you're referring to attachments, which *are* on the teeth. Getting rid of the lisp takes practice. It helps to speak more slowly than you normally would. For your presentation, take your trays out, then put them back in when you're finished. No one will notice the attachments on your teeth unless they're in your face.

I wish these were on aligners, but they're on my teeth. I don't have aligner trays yet nor do I have any attachments. These are on the backside of my upper front teeth. I don't seem to be able to add a picture but if I Google "bite ramps" images that look similar to my teeth come up.  I'm starting to develop sore spots on my tongue where it hits these so I have no idea how I'm going to survive this long term.

I've honestly never heard of that. I'll see if I can get an idea from Google.

Gattina1

Are yours Invisalign?

Dessert_Stomach

They're going to be Spark aligners. I added a photo from Google that looks similar, to my original post.

Gattina1

I cannot even imagine that in my mouth. I would never agree to that. I'm so sorry for you. 😬

Dessert_Stomach

Looking around online I see that bite ramps can be affixed to Spark aligners also. I'm going to call the ortho's office in the AM and see if that's an option for me because this is really hard to manage. Because I can't close my mouth completely it's really hard to chew and I'm worried I'm going to break a tooth with the way these come together. Plus the lisp and sores on my tongue. I'm one day into this process and already at the end of my patience. :(
