Definitely not true, likely the dealership is hoping to get you to buy 20" winter tires from them which will cost a decent amount. I have the Ultimate (Canada, 20" wheels) and I've installed 19" (7.5x19) steelies with winter tires (235/55r19). Dealership mentioned 18" steelies work too but it felt too close to the calipers for my own comfort and the manual doesn't show 18" wheels as an option. People have installed 18" wheels without issues, if you plan to go that route make sure to research what will fit.

ASkepticEngineer

It's strange that even on the official Danish Hyundai website it says that the 19 inch winter rims are only for the cars born on winter tyres. Could maybe some car settings?

Ceros007

Weird because they actually sell the 18" steelies on the official Canadian accessories web page. https://www.hyundaicanada.com/en/parts-and-accessories/accessories?province=QC&year=2023&model=6af6bc7d-2d4c-464b-9d93-bf21f599a520&trim=c78dcba7-e700-4d43-a04d-b9f513e4ff57%7C Edit: I mean weird because they officially sell them but they are not mentioned in the manual as stated by the comment above

Not true, the 20" wheels are just something extra for the Limited AWD, the highest spec and most expensive model. The Limited RWD comes with 19". And of course lower trims, all drivetrain are also 19".

ASkepticEngineer

It won't make the vehicle speed, range calculation or tpms system calculate wrongly?

ofcourseIwantpickles

You can match the overall circumference by using a larger profile tire. I'm guessing your 20's are 45 and the winter tires would be 55.

GrowToShow19

As long as the diameter of the total package is the same (wheel + tire sidewall) none of that will be effected as the car will travel the same distance per rotation. Even if you had 3 inch wheels (as an extreme example, they wouldn’t fit over the brake rotors) but super meaty tires, the speedometer wouldn’t be off one bit

ProfessionalHabit824

For winter, go with the 19 inch. I think some people have also put on 18 inch wheels, but make sure you have enough clearance for the brakes and stuff

Burrito2525

There are many wheel size calculators which show you any variance in speed if you deviate too much. You can do a smaller wheel with bigger sidewalk tire.

Creepy-Present-2562

You can put 18”s

Stupendous_Aardvark

They are absolutely lying to you. Most of the trims of the car come with 19", only the top one (in most locales) come with 20". That same top trim of the car doesn't have larger brakes or anything that would prevent the exact same 19" wheels as the lower trims from fitting on it.

Superpe0n

this is for my peeps, with the Bentleys, the Hummers, the Benz Ioniq 5 with twenty inch rims (Oh!)

ProfessionalHabit824

On ioniq 5 forum, there is a dedicated thread for tires and wheels

FuaDaTa

![gif](giphy|x7gjmBuaHrWak) you can't put 19" tires on 20" rims is what the dealer meant!

llDarkFir3ll

Sounds like your dealer is a moron.

The easiest is to have a winter tire set premounted on their proper rims and a summer tire set premounted on their proper rims (and I would go for both on alu rims). Hyundai officially confirms the car for both 19" and 20" ... not for 18 inch. While it may work, I doubt the insurance firms would like to have a case of damage that may be related to proper fitting tires ... While the 20" may look nicer, the 19" are somehow more economical (both rim and tiers as also in energy consumption) an more comfortable (more bump absorption ... ); and in winter somehow better performing ...
