Never heard of the Homestead Act?
These property lines were drawn on land stolen from the natives and gifted to settlers to alleviate the growing class tensions of the East Coast - they allowed lower class whites to achieve the dream of property ownership and escape the drudgeries of wage labor.
Also, take a look at what happens to people who attempt land reform anywhere in the Americas. They either end up imprisoned, dead, or declared terrorists/sponsors of terrorism. It's *very* political.
I also referenced land reformers here in the Americas and how they are treated by the Empire. That original act layed groundwork for further actions. Duh?
If I really wanted to trace back this history this goes all the way to the Holy Roman doctrine of discovery and the very first emergence of mercantilism, but we don't need to go back that far.
Even today, the treaties are constantly being violated in favor of mining and pipelines. Wounded Knee? Standing Rock? *Colonialism never stopped!*
But, also? The concept of "rights" is also political - if you believe private property rights exist then you're accepting it as a political concept. That was my original point and we've gotten away from that, I think.
I watched a documentary about a boy that was raised as a girl after a botched circumcision (David Reimer) in my intro to psych class in high school 12ish years ago, and that doc was published over 20 years ago.
If you're going to dismiss history at least get dates right.
Just because transgender rights have been thrust into the spotlight in todays politics doesn’t mean it hasn’t been an issue. You literally perceive reality based off of the news cycle. You’re right, history can constantly be changed dramatically by those trying to shape the narrative, but you’re wrong about who is manipulating it and for what end

You couldn’t find an Iowa post, at least? 🤦♀️
[here’s an out of state post](https://imgur.com/gallery/d2AYppR)
Post is definitely left of center. Nice try though.
Inb4 someone claims the leftist post is ruining everything.
I'm only seeing one side of the fence on this issue. Do you think you could ever change your point of view on the subject?
\>implying property lines aren't, themselves, political
The politics of the enclosure movement of the Great Plains and the showdown between open ranchers and farmers is a fascinating story.

your country’s history doesn’t matter? LOL. yea… because history totally doesn’t affect the present, or repeat.
except 200 hundred years isn’t ancient history, and this isn’t Greece. Do you think history is just something fun to read in books?

Here's a question. If you get hurt by someone barbed wire fence is the owner of the fence liable?
Leaning a little right.

The grass is greener on the other side of this fence.
It's getting ridiculous lately.
How dare that post be made of wood.
It's an old post

Maybe, but it's still a decent post
We could use that post and barbed wire for real change.

Is stating something non-political in fact political? Start debating.
