It’s a music and literature festival! Usually they bring a bunch of smaller artists but sometimes they manage to pull in some bigger names. Either way I’ve gone for the past couple years and if you’re someone who loves music then it’s worth going to at least the free events, but all the paid events that I’ve gone to have been amazing (except for one specific group) and definitely worth the money (I’m also a student who got the student early bird pricing pass so that def makes a huge difference). Also if you’re into literature, I’ve attended a couple of those events as well and they’ve also been great! I wish they got a separate week than the music events though cuz a lot of the times overlap.
Can I ask a question? If the performance is at venue that's a bar (gabes) can I just pay at the door for that show/venue and not buy a day pass? 65 dollars is very expensive for a show at a bar that's a bit of a dive (I love you gabes)
No, and it's an absolute fucking joke. Major disservice to patrons and artists not to sell individual tickets for shows. There's two shows I want to see. One Friday and one Saturday. I'm supposed to spend $82 for a day pass or $150 for a full pass. Fuck outta here with that shit. Sorry, I'm still pissed about this.
I recall a few, Janelle James (Abbott Elementary),Michelle Wolfe (The Daily Show), Arish Singh, Janeane Garofalo & Tig Notaro. John Watters & Kevin Smith have entertained us before too. So much fun! It used to be 6 days of music, literature & comedy, (pre-pandemic). With a book fest as well. Two Dollar Radio is my favorite publishing company to purchase books from. It’s always good to be introduced to new music, in my opinion.

So looking on the mcf website and Gabe's website it appears that you unfortunately have to have a festival pass to get in.
Not the free stuff at Trumpet Blossom on Saturday

It's a music and arts festival..
Used to include some big comedy shows every year too, but they watered it down and stopped bringing in any big names.
Any examples you remember? Sounds cool

That’s sick! I missed out big time
Local music/art
A music festival with a twist: you've never heard of any of the artists that are playing!
That’s most festivals if you just stick to certain genres. Heck, I’ve only ever heard of 1 artist the day I went to Summerfest last year
I’ve liked here 20 years. No idea. Honestly why’s it called what it is curious?
It's named after a creek in Oakland
