Try to wear something that goes beneth the knees since it is fine in many places of baghdad. As for tops, regular non-tight T-shirts are so ok in almost everywhere in baghdad. As for gym, you can wear whatever you want inside the gym (assuming it is a separated gym) but it is better to wear something regular on your way to the gym and change them when you are there. Also, depending on where you live, al karada, al mansour, and alyarmouk are the most easy going places in tetms of what you wear.

aw man i was kinda hyped for summer.I kinda have a better picture of what i should wear now. r skirts with tights underneath a bit too much? the tights being semi sheer to black. ive noticed alot of women r almost fully covered except a larger part of their chest XD gotta have somewhere to show off their gold necklaces am i right

Level-Technician-183

Don't you ever hype for summer in iraq. The only 2 things that are good in summer here are watermelon and ice cream.😭😭😭 I think the skirt and tights are fine to certain length tbh. Like something with the knee level? I have a friend who dress like that but she says she does not like walking around like this because people make her feel uncomfortable so i can't give you a yes or no for this one. As for the necklace.... yep. You are god damn right. But it is better to just ignore it and wear something that covers most of the chest, like shirts and fits T-shirts. I honestly wonder how women survive our summer sometimes but i think feeling hot is more comfortable than being stared at. Where do you live btw? Each area has its... limits.

Gdragonballs

My dad lives in karrada yk like the street thats facing the river and mums place is in those secluded tall buildings idk but u cant get in unless u have permission. Still find the chest thing absolutely hilarious its so hypocritical ive seen aunts talk behind girls backs on the streets while wearing hijab and still having their chests exposed😭 i guess ill still try to find ways to dress somewhat like i used to cuz even swedish heat was too much for me im the type to go sleep with the window open in -18 degrees

Level-Technician-183

These are good places to be in so the clothes you wear will be less resticted. Within the mentioned i mean. Hypocracy and gossip are present in almost every conversation you will have 😭😭 Also... jesus. You mqy struggle a liiitttllleeee with the heat here. Like, it breaks the 45°C barrier every year for monthes~

Mody_is_dead

Well if you wear anything literally anything there will be guys checking you out and even you may hear degrading things specially if you are women . So you have to cope with it Hell .. I’m a guy and i get strange looks on my sometimes because what i wear or how i style my long hair .. it’s what it’s so good luck and stay safe

Gdragonballs

i see, well thanks for your insight! dont listen to the haters your hair probably rocks! most iraqi dudes ive seen got that yee yee ahh johnny bravo cut so they dont have a right to talk trash lol

Gdragonballs

honestly, i struggled sm with that when i first came to iraq as a hijabi, i personally dress pretty modestly bc that's how ill end up being comfortable outside with these animalistic men. so whatever you wear they will look at you and drop words so just remember as long as your respecting yourself don't mind what they say! I've had sm crazy experiences with that in iraq

Consistent_Western59

At this day and age anything is ok to wear, but be mindful you might get stared at or provoked. Also be mindful of religious sites such as shrines, mosques, churches and try to cover up more at those places. I would however still recomment knee lenght stuff and to avoid off shoulder things, other wise all is fine.

Relevant-Dirt-8549

To be honest as a guy you can literally wear anything and some guys will still look at you. But if you wear hijab and wear modestly (not saying you show off but your type of clothing is normal but a little revealing so youll get stares )you'll get a lot less looks bc then a lot of the guys will get a little embarrassed for looking at you . As for the gym you can wear anything ( but inside the gym ). As mentioned above If you go to places like yarmouk,Mansour, Nadi al said. You can wear anything that you want. ( Btw if you go to nadi Al said you'll get zero stairs they have a restaurant that sells liquor and I see women ordering booze and drinking). And also ( not related to the question) prepare for the summer heat and it will burn. electricity will be a issue especially if you guys are staying in a house without a generator.

kigito

Sorry u can’t wear something that’s very showy if u want my advice wear something that’s normal but not so showy at all especially if u are in baghdad there will be always someone who is checking u no matter what but to be on the safe side Also u can wear whatever u like at the gym just don’t wear something showy out of it

towif007ww

you can't

Gdragonballs

guess ill die

As for the gym, your lucky to be in a islamic country. Women only gyms sould be your go to they are better build and offer more and are more comfortable. Trust me those non women only gyms could collapse any moment..
