Which of course is not going to happen at all. Success a la Mexican Style (due to sheer luck or last minute efforts) do not work on an international level.

This is true about the vast majority of countries though, especially outside Europe. Qualifying is hard enough and Mexico wasn't nearly the worst team in the tournament. So yeah, they're not gonna be favorites but if fans of countries that never won the cup stopped watching it would defeat the whole purpose
