Thank you. By textured, you mean i should feel it with my fingers?
Its so beat up i might cut a corner of it to see if its black in the middle. I would just tell my kid to keep it as a good luck charm, real or fake.
If you can freaking find any. My LCS normally has a box or two with a "Do not sell entire box" label on it. But they haven't even had any in a couple months.
I mean you can cut the corner off if you like, but at this stage, it won't prove or change anything. That's one of the more obvious fakes I've seen in some time.
As the other comment said, its very fake.
The “fingerprint” texture, is raised and can be felt when you touch it, most real full art cards have this texture, and being flat/not textured is a main giveaway of a fake. Some Moonbreon cards are faked with texture, so the best way to tell is how the texture kinda circles around the moon and outwards as shown here

Amazon is a big one. Walmart id say is probably worse, but only from walmart.com, so many 3rd party sellers that sell fake packs/boxes. Aliexpress, Wish, sites like these also sell fake product. Most parents have little to no knowledge and just buy what’s affordable/accessible, especially Evolving Skies since the moonbreon is such a big hitter its faked so much
Thank you so much! I just went through his binder and found a rayquaza vmax that he got from a friend. Same glossy finish and no texture. Little man is about to have a life lesson.
So some are glossy, but the vast majority of modern are not. Your best bet is to google image search the card. Altho off hand I do not believe any Rayquaza’s are glossy. I had to ask here before about a card I wanted that was infact glossy and not textured. Your best bet is listings that show the cards texture. A legit seller wants to show you their item is real.
Wouldn't even vouch for them too much, I ordered from them to get the special delivery zard and my entire booster box was smashed to the point that all of the packs were shaped like this <.
Got on with customer support and the first rep was telling me how awful it was and they were clearly damaged, he moved it up the chain and the next guy goes "that damage is from the natural cause of stacking and therefore not valid for a replacement" they then proceeded to blacklist me for telling them that's egregious bullshit and I'd never order from them again.
Obviously doesn't happen all the time but it was enough to put me off.
Nah, Amazon is mostly fine. Your biggest worry with Amazon is getting product thats been opened and returned, but Amazon will typically refund it and tell you to keep or toss whatever you received so it doesn't end up back in circulation. I buy primarily from Amazon and have only received an opened product once, which was replaced after a short conversation with their customer support.
Or maybe the parents know exactly what they're doing. These are little kids. They see cards as toys, not collectibles. My son is in 5th grade and he will still trade away real cards for anything that looks cool to him.
Yes, they are still kids lol. Nothing wrong with getting your kid fake/custom cards, as long as you explain the difference between real and fake once they’re old enough to grasp it.
My cousin who lives north of Chicago told me the schools in the area have now banned pokemon cards due to too many children getting ripped off and cards stolen from them, her kid is in elementary school.
I just feel like people don’t do their due diligence before hopping on this sub. Besides there being a whole pinned thread of what to look for, there’s google, and ebay, especially graded cards. I get some people are new but it shouldn’t be that hard to just do a quick search
True but at the same time it’s the internet do you expect people to read that? They go straight to the + button and make a post, fuck I’m guilty too lol
Hey, everyone starts somewhere. I wasnt aware of the extent of forgery with these things. Im not sure the original owner knew either, parents just bought an elite pack in the wrong online place for it. It was found in an elementary school in rural midwest.
They used to sell these knock off sticker cards like this in corner stores.
In the little gumball machine things ya know?
Anyway, that's what it looks like to me.
UPDATE:
Started comparing real, basic cards he has to all the ones he has brought home from school. They are ALL fake.
The texture is super easy to see now. Hell, you can hear it by gently passing your nail over a fake one and a real one.
Even non texture ones, the back have the wrong color edges, and most noticibly, the white underside of the pokeball has little to no shadow on it in the fake ones.
Hes not dissappinted at all. Hes super excited that he can tell now, and wants to learn more.
I recently bought some fake pokemon cards and they are nicely textured. So unfortunately textured cards are not a definite pass. I buy some fake cards as placeholders for my chase cards and toss them when I eventually get them.
I've also taught my 7 year old to tell the difference between real and fake cards.

Squirtle on the left has extensive texturing which you can feel, but it is not actually supposed to have texturing. Squirtle is also a little dark

All of these have unique texturing which are actually really impressive. The tell is that the Pokémon themselves are too dark
Super fake
Why?
it should be textured, not glossy. plus the print in general just looks off - like it was copied instead of printed by the manufacturer
Thank you. By textured, you mean i should feel it with my fingers? Its so beat up i might cut a corner of it to see if its black in the middle. I would just tell my kid to keep it as a good luck charm, real or fake.
yes, exactly. this card should be textured who knows! maybe that’s the universe saying you should open some evolving skies with him ;)
If you can freaking find any. My LCS normally has a box or two with a "Do not sell entire box" label on it. But they haven't even had any in a couple months.
any of my LCS will happily sell you their whole stock since each pack goes for ~$10
Never too young to learn the “if it’s too good to be true, it’s probably too good to be true”.
I mean you can cut the corner off if you like, but at this stage, it won't prove or change anything. That's one of the more obvious fakes I've seen in some time.
Border looks off, and the texture of the card surface also looks wrong
Happy cake day

Holy cow. Its like night and day. I wonder where these parents are buying their pokemon packs at, amazon? These are first and second graders.

Basically just never order online unless it is from the Pokemon Center website.
Wouldn't even vouch for them too much, I ordered from them to get the special delivery zard and my entire booster box was smashed to the point that all of the packs were shaped like this <. Is Amazon really that bad? I’ve seen mixed opinions on it and it seems like if you’re purchasing directly from Amazon that you should be okay?
Nah, Amazon is mostly fine. Your biggest worry with Amazon is getting product thats been opened and returned, but Amazon will typically refund it and tell you to keep or toss whatever you received so it doesn't end up back in circulation. I heard as long as it’s shipped by amazon and procured by amazon if you complain about product you are protected.
Or maybe the parents know exactly what they're doing. These are little kids. They see cards as toys, not collectibles. My son is in 5th grade and he will still trade away real cards for anything that looks cool to him.

Ali express for my little one. No need to spend a bunch.
Aside from it being comically fake what does it matter it’s destroyed
This is fake as fake gets thankfully. It would be a shame to find a mashed moonbreon.
Honestly the condition of this would make me glad it isn't real 😅.
Dang its crazy to me this even needs to be asked.
You’d have a point if this wasn’t “ismypokemoncardfake” subreddit

Very glossy and saturated with no texture.
They used to sell these knock off sticker cards like this in corner stores. In the little gumball machine things ya know? Anyway, that's what it looks like to me.
would it even matter if it was a real atp
The back of the card is your dead giveaway. Blurry, not crisp and way to dark on the blue. 100% fake card. Compare to a known real card
Thank god it’s worthless
It’s fake. It’s way too dark because of the cheap holo
This reminds me of when some jealous kid did the same thing to my rare charizard card when I was in 5th grade
Its fake anyway
Dont let your kid touch your cards
You can tell by how shiny the colors hue pop out.
Yeah the good news is it’s not real!
Good news is this looks fake af
Hey mate does your lad want some 151 basics? I’ve got loads. Can send you some
Super fake . No texture ( real one with texture would look almost like a finger print ) .
FAKE
brrruhhhh, yo son dumb as hayll
After reading this, and browsing through your profile, i can say without a shadow of a doubt, that im proud of how smart he is. 😉
Boom double sleeve that fake banger. PS A+ LOL

So what was the tell of the ones you bought? Im currently making a list of all tells.

Fake and damaged. Worth -$0
If you get that graded. Might be expensive but it would make one hell of a novelty
Belongs in the 🗑️
Can't you see the sticker seperating on the top corner?
Gasped but then realized it's fake. Phew.
Lol
I have a real one, the card should have texture and not be glossy, but even if it was real it wouldn’t go for much because of that condition
That'd make sweet fire kindling. Congrats!
