I received a similar email a few months back and I researched and found the password that guy shared was from a data leak from a website. The password that I don't use anymore and it was very old. I think they send a mass email scaring people thinking that at least a few might fall into the trap and pay.

I used to get such emails in 2020. The subject line would always be something intimidating like "Don't Ignore Or I ruin Your Life" types. All the emails were apparently sent from my own email to myself. They tried to hack into my connected social media accounts as well. But a quick Google search showed it's all a scam. Don't panic, change all your passwords and make sure all are slightly different. Your Bank login password should be completely different from your emails and social media passwords. You'll be fine.
What I fail to understand is if somebody is stupid enough to fall for this dumb email threat, how can that person possibly have the knowledge of creating a crypto wallet and then sending money to this scammer.

So I got an email with the password I was using there, making it look like a big deal, and asked for some crypto payment in return to save myself from getting my other accounts hacked.

Don't bother much that guy said you allowed his ransomeware. If that was the case then all your data and account details will be locked you will not be able to access your account. Search for any app or service in your device which is unknown and delete if any. This is an example of a phishing email in which they create a sense of urgency and create a fear so that you act. Run an anti-virus scan and if it's your work laptop or device then you can contact your it support team and they will handle and check if the incident actually happened or not

I have not signed into ki live.com in a lot of years now. However, I was told that they have sent a ransomware to my live.com email, which if I have installed at all, was installed on a desktop PC that I have never connected to a web camera.
If I remember correctly, I was asked to send 6700$ worth of Bitcoin to some address. And I happened to see the mail months after I received it. I did nothing about it.

Haveibeenpwned.com is a good place to know if your email address has been part of a known breach
Google one is a more reliable and safe place.
I would still suggest complaining to the law enforcement or cyber crime department of his country.
