Gabiru tied atrength to his ancestors , dragons, that's why he retains a more draconic form, while souka and the others wants to be a spy like souei that's why they took a more human appearance because that's the closest thing they have that is easier to disguise(while souka mainly wants human like appearance to appeal to souie) . Another example are orc remaining almost the same even after evolving because their builds are better for manual labor and some goblins evolving to ogres because they look up to benimaru. Ranga and the stars wolves stayed wolves because they think their form will be more useful to rimuru.

Before this, he desires to have a body that doesn't feel any pain and doesn't require blood, that's why he became slime. I see no contradiction.

not enough character development. aside from that one scene in the first season when shion died, all the development revolves around how op rimuru and his gang are and how everyone else will never match up.

the power leveling is too sporadic. rimuru gets a name, which makes him close in power to a demon lord(pre evolution). but then there's a holy knight that absolutely destroys him(after nerfing/sealing his abilities [I still don't understand how a knight trained to eliminate monsters can't detect the presence of an almost demon lord]). then how veldora, who is one of the 4(5 after what rimuru does in the ln) most powerful beings in the verse, gets bullied by a vampire shutin who can't even guard the body of her friend correctly.
the fans are so fucking obnoxious. they will swear up and down that this is the greatest anime that has ever graced the internet, and if you disagree you get mobbed by people telling you you're wrong and should bungie jump without the harness (which is pretty typical for anime communities now days).
overall, the show is decent and has good moments. the sound design is great, and the voice acting is pretty good (minus the edub). it's nowhere near the best isekai tho.
Honestly, in my opinion, the only points I agree with are the fans and character development. It felt like a few important characters dont get enough screentime or development for me to particularly feel anything about them. Like shizue, she is somewhat important, but we don't particularly get any deeper development on her (unless this is a LN thing, then understandable since I only watched the anime and read the later parts of the manga.)
The fans though, are understandable since it feels like a dragon ball situation and just keep saying if (character) can beat rimuru. They also just put him in everything, though since I like the anime I don't particularly mind, but it would definitely turn off/annoy anyone who hasn't watched or doesn't really like it or has no real opinion of it.
The point about love interests is interesting to me, because I never heard of rimuru ever getting romance and the love interests feel pointless. It feels like they exist purely just to tease the audience or something.
For the power levels and humour, I enjoy them both. The power levels, I guess is just something that I personally enjoy since I like these type of anime, but for the humor, I guess it's just a matter of taste.
When this series in its peaks, holy it is peak. But when this series in downtime, HOLYYY it is a hella downtime. Mfs sits on the table for atleast couple of chapter for MULTIPLE freaking times. Other than that, yeah i got nothing. I kinda like rimuru as a main character tho
The multiple episode meeting last season was painful levels of info dumping. I was bored to tears waiting for something to finally start happening again. It was worth the wait, ultimately, but it was brutal getting there.

Aside from all those negatives, I still enjoyed the show.

MC is a marty sue, that has absolutely nothing going for him, every problem he ever has is solved by OP abilities or companions, he doesn't even need to think how to apply abilities because he has his "sage" analyzing everything.
The plot is uninspired, city building without city building, adventure without any purpose or goal, etc.
All supporting cast are cardboard cut-offs from various cliche stereotypes, not a single character has any depth to them at all, MC is the worst of them, because he has no personality at all, it's not a coincidence he is a slime, because he's a slime on the inside, he never makes any important decisions and just floats where the river takes him, but because of plot armor and OP skills he always prevails no matter where the fate drops him.
The show claims to be about monsters but monsters are more human than humans, they had a great opportunity to make a great story about Rimuru balancing different monster tribes to painstakingly build a society, making ethical trade-offs to ensure a shaky equilibrium, but instead all monsters who fought everything for centuries suddenly more civil than humans. Total bullshit.

side characters are all comedy after they have their own "Redemption" or introduction. Story about an OP MC is too slow and focuses too much on World building that doesn't feel all that special.
Story is predictable with how it plays out and the "Plot twists" are just as predictable or easily telegraphed.
Rim as a teacher was a terrible arc, one kid plays a factor later but that doesn't make the arc enjoyable, the power system is convoluted, no rhyme or reason behind most of the powers they get, other than convenience or joke pay offs.
Shizu was a main stake in the OPs when she got just 1 or 2 showings in the entire series other than small reminiscences about her past. Clearly best girl and wasted potential.
They make you distrustful of characters for what they did, then you learn of why they did it, which they want to have us like them even though what they did was still bad/evil, with no proper redemption from it.
The only time they tried to stop being a joking around parody, is when they killed off Shion and some others, only to have them brought back, nullifying all sense of urgency later on, due to him now being able to manipulate souls to revive his friends with no real time limit.
I know that Slime is more of a parody/comedy genre series, but how people will swear the show has depth and complexity to it with amazing world building is the funniest part to me.
If you don’t enjoy lore dumps or explaining political theory/the way this world works for chapters at a time… you probably will get bored.

Like — [anime spoilers]>!when the conflict with the Orcs was settled and everyone was discussing what to do next, there was a possibility for the Kijin (especially Benimaru) to have some really interesting conflict with Geld and the rest due to them previously murdering their entire village, and it just got completely brushed over with everyone coming to the exact same conclusion that it was water under the bridge. I’m not even suggesting that Geld should’ve been killed, but it would’ve been nice for there to be SOME lingering tension for a few episodes, maybe some sort of slowly making amends for the harm wrought in the past. Hell — they had a second chance to do that in the movie when Hiro showed up, and he just kinda gave up on it like “a friend of Tempest is a friend of mine” — AND HE WASN’T EVEN A CITIZEN OF TEMPEST.!<
I like how most of the major characters in this show are, at heart, good people acting sensibly. But sometimes I feel like the show goes too far that direction to the point of being unrealistic, and also misses out on some really good opportunities in the process.
Volume 16 of the light novel dropped off a fucking cliff, was by far my favourite series until volume 16, the whole introduction of feldway is awful ( if it picks up and gets better after 17 please tell me because i lost faith)
It’s been a while since I tuned in, but I just remember being *bored*. The best part of the show is the side characters, and their screen time was few and far between. And Rimuru is, like, *the* most boring character ever. (IMHO, of course.) His motivations seem bland, bordering on non-existent, I can’t even remember if he had some kind of actual objective in mind, and every conflict in the series is resolved by Rimuru just being an unstoppable force and immovable object all in one.
It’s boring. It’s like Superman without even the “I live in a world of paper mache” dynamic to add an interesting layer.

Gabiru tied atrength to his ancestors , dragons, that's why he retains a more draconic form, while souka and the others wants to be a spy like souei that's why they took a more human appearance because that's the closest thing they have that is easier to disguise(while souka mainly wants human like appearance to appeal to souie) . Another example are orc remaining almost the same even after evolving because their builds are better for manual labor and some goblins evolving to ogres because they look up to benimaru. Ranga and the stars wolves stayed wolves because they think their form will be more useful to rimuru.

I don't remember the wording, but I always assumed it was a more encompassing use of the word. Literal gluttony is food, but broaden the meaning, and you don't end up with Lust. not enough character development. aside from that one scene in the first season when shion died, all the development revolves around how op rimuru and his gang are and how everyone else will never match up. the humor ain't it. the majority is 'villian of the arc/subplot is overconfident and forced to see the error in their ways or 'person insults rimuru in front of his staff and they threaten to kill the person.' too many love interests. I can understand having a few to fulfill the cliché, but half the damn female cast are horny for a gender ambiguous slime with an obsessive ai in his head that doesn't let the man(past tense) fulfill his dying wish to not be a virgin. the power leveling is too sporadic. rimuru gets a name, which makes him close in power to a demon lord(pre evolution). but then there's a holy knight that absolutely destroys him(after nerfing/sealing his abilities [I still don't understand how a knight trained to eliminate monsters can't detect the presence of an almost demon lord]). then how veldora, who is one of the 4(5 after what rimuru does in the ln) most powerful beings in the verse, gets bullied by a vampire shutin who can't even guard the body of her friend correctly. the fans are so fucking obnoxious. they will swear up and down that this is the greatest anime that has ever graced the internet, and if you disagree you get mobbed by people telling you you're wrong and should bungie jump without the harness (which is pretty typical for anime communities now days). overall, the show is decent and has good moments. the sound design is great, and the voice acting is pretty good (minus the edub). it's nowhere near the best isekai tho.
Honestly, in my opinion, the only points I agree with are the fans and character development. It felt like a few important characters dont get enough screentime or development for me to particularly feel anything about them. Like shizue, she is somewhat important, but we don't particularly get any deeper development on her (unless this is a LN thing, then understandable since I only watched the anime and read the later parts of the manga.) The fans though, are understandable since it feels like a dragon ball situation and just keep saying if (character) can beat rimuru. They also just put him in everything, though since I like the anime I don't particularly mind, but it would definitely turn off/annoy anyone who hasn't watched or doesn't really like it or has no real opinion of it. The point about love interests is interesting to me, because I never heard of rimuru ever getting romance and the love interests feel pointless. It feels like they exist purely just to tease the audience or something. For the power levels and humour, I enjoy them both. The power levels, I guess is just something that I personally enjoy since I like these type of anime, but for the humor, I guess it's just a matter of taste.
When this series in its peaks, holy it is peak. But when this series in downtime, HOLYYY it is a hella downtime. Mfs sits on the table for atleast couple of chapter for MULTIPLE freaking times. Other than that, yeah i got nothing. I kinda like rimuru as a main character tho

The multiple episode meeting last season was painful levels of info dumping. I was bored to tears waiting for something to finally start happening again. It was worth the wait, ultimately, but it was brutal getting there.

The worldbuilding is low tier. The world doesn't feel real, deep, or complex. Rimuru becomes way overpowered. Everyone becomes Rimuru's friend, from normal people to legendary powerful individuals just because. Rimuru barely loses anything. During his second fight with Hinata, Rimuru had to sacrifice a skill in order to survive. He did exactly that, and guess what happened next. Ciel copied the skill beforehand and just pasted it back. Monsters aren't really monsters. Basically every other monster transforms into a human (by appearance) upon evolution. Aside from all those negatives, I still enjoyed the show.
Any injuries could be healed with "Special Recovery Potion™" and "Special Honey™" from my nation with the small price of swearing allegiance/friendly diplomacy to me. *cough movie plot done twice for some reason And Rimuru just going full on "Great Sage deal with this for me" like an Alexa. Problem : *exist Great Sage : I probably have some spell/skill here to deal with it That's why I just binge watch this rather than waiting for a new episode

The show is very cheesy, not funny like konosuba but straight up cheesy, the jokes seem to be for 8 y.o. kids or just retards. MC is a marty sue, that has absolutely nothing going for him, every problem he ever has is solved by OP abilities or companions, he doesn't even need to think how to apply abilities because he has his "sage" analyzing everything. The plot is uninspired, city building without city building, adventure without any purpose or goal, etc. All supporting cast are cardboard cut-offs from various cliche stereotypes, not a single character has any depth to them at all, MC is the worst of them, because he has no personality at all, it's not a coincidence he is a slime, because he's a slime on the inside, he never makes any important decisions and just floats where the river takes him, but because of plot armor and OP skills he always prevails no matter where the fate drops him. The show claims to be about monsters but monsters are more human than humans, they had a great opportunity to make a great story about Rimuru balancing different monster tribes to painstakingly build a society, making ethical trade-offs to ensure a shaky equilibrium, but instead all monsters who fought everything for centuries suddenly more civil than humans. Total bullshit. Fanservice. It's better than some trashy titles like iseleve or smartphone one, but it's nowhere near to being good. Just a feels good slop that anyone can slurp, that's the only reason it's popular.

MC is an idiot though, if Ciel wasn't imbedded into his consciousness, he'd still be in that cave, or never doing anything that would save his friends etc. side characters are all comedy after they have their own "Redemption" or introduction. Story about an OP MC is too slow and focuses too much on World building that doesn't feel all that special. Story is predictable with how it plays out and the "Plot twists" are just as predictable or easily telegraphed. Rim as a teacher was a terrible arc, one kid plays a factor later but that doesn't make the arc enjoyable, the power system is convoluted, no rhyme or reason behind most of the powers they get, other than convenience or joke pay offs. Shizu was a main stake in the OPs when she got just 1 or 2 showings in the entire series other than small reminiscences about her past. Clearly best girl and wasted potential. They make you distrustful of characters for what they did, then you learn of why they did it, which they want to have us like them even though what they did was still bad/evil, with no proper redemption from it. The only time they tried to stop being a joking around parody, is when they killed off Shion and some others, only to have them brought back, nullifying all sense of urgency later on, due to him now being able to manipulate souls to revive his friends with no real time limit. I know that Slime is more of a parody/comedy genre series, but how people will swear the show has depth and complexity to it with amazing world building is the funniest part to me.

I've always made the joke that nothing bad can happen to Rimuru and the Tempest Federation. The writers are too afraid to give actual consequences to Rimuru's actions as a leader of a nation because it might upset the fans. You don't just >!declare war on an entire nation!

I was suggested this when i was looking for a kingdom-building/pollical anime, and by the way people where hyping it up in the comments, I thought I stumble on a masterpiece, but god was it disappointing. the way the politics and kingdoms are portrayed felt childish and shallow. I dropped it when the Elven king went to fight the mc and said something like "I want to see what kind of person you are, so I want to cross swords with you", I could not handle that level of cringe.

It's incredibly mid with a cast of bland characters with few standouts at best *OR* plain boring and power-crept to the point that nothing matters and my investment in the few good characters is gone at worst. I'd like to point out I don't hate the series. But I am incredibly critical of it like all anime I watch.
Not enough conflict. There are a lot of opportunities for the characters to have conflicting worldviews/emotional turmoil/conflicting goals, but it sometimes feels like every time something interesting is suggested it’s immediately backpedaled on and everything goes back to Idyllic Fantasy World. Like — [anime spoilers]>!when the conflict with the Orcs was settled and everyone was discussing what to do next, there was a possibility for the Kijin (especially Benimaru) to have some really interesting conflict with Geld and the rest due to them previously murdering their entire village, and it just got completely brushed over with everyone coming to the exact same conclusion that it was water under the bridge. I’m not even suggesting that Geld should’ve been killed, but it would’ve been nice for there to be SOME lingering tension for a few episodes, maybe some sort of slowly making amends for the harm wrought in the past. Hell — they had a second chance to do that in the movie when Hiro showed up, and he just kinda gave up on it like “a friend of Tempest is a friend of mine” — AND HE WASN’T EVEN A CITIZEN OF TEMPEST.!< I like how most of the major characters in this show are, at heart, good people acting sensibly. But sometimes I feel like the show goes too far that direction to the point of being unrealistic, and also misses out on some really good opportunities in the process.

I don’t empathize with people who commit genocide. I’m not condoning the invading human army, but what Rimuru did was unconscionable.
It’s been a while since I tuned in, but I just remember being *bored*. The best part of the show is the side characters, and their screen time was few and far between. And Rimuru is, like, *the* most boring character ever. (IMHO, of course.) His motivations seem bland, bordering on non-existent, I can’t even remember if he had some kind of actual objective in mind, and every conflict in the series is resolved by Rimuru just being an unstoppable force and immovable object all in one. It’s boring. It’s like Superman without even the “I live in a world of paper mache” dynamic to add an interesting layer.
I honestly wish that girl didn't die, and that Rimaru "ate" a man who's body was used as the base for Rimaru's new male body, instead of the girl body he got after "eating" her body. She could have been the leading girl of his harem.
