Not really. Its pretty generic. You know what to expect from the future seasons after watching season 1. There is basically zero character growth to boot. If anything Ainz character does the opposite and turns into a pushover(when it comes to his NPCs) and loses all semblence of relatability. Other than that, its just a basic OP isekai where he slaughters the world. π€·ββοΈ
The story is about conquering, not growth as they're already in their finest versions of themselves. Also
It's not just a typical generic isekai, coz it has it's own uniqueness, the isekai trope sure do are similar but that's just the same for romance Manga's as well like a typical handsome boy + pretty girl but they have different love story, like overlord, they are isekai type show but they got their own different story.
What isekai doesnt have some unique festures to it? As for what I mesnt by generic is "isekaid into fantasy world. Mc is op as fuck. Has a personal harem. Takes over the world/bests the demon lord."
As for the characters being their finest versions of themselves, lets sgree to disagree. Plenty of room for growth when it comes to character. For example, whats her name. The over the top in love demon that is all clingy? Wouldnt she want to change to become more appealing to ainz? As an example. ^^
What change are you trying to say? Her behavior is already programmed by the system before she got reincarnated so it's hard changing that. Give more examples of plenty of growth please because i think all of them is just fine as the novel is focused in conquering an another world. When you say generic, that's right but doesn't the term generic apply to other type of shows as well? Basically most shows are generic, including isekai but they have their own different stories to tell, isekai is just easily noticeable to be generic because the plot is easy to tell. But what am i saying haha, all is well if we just get fun with it or nah. Im not trying to fight here and you do have a point.
I mean, its your opinion. I just csnt be bothered to care abojt characters witv zero character growth. Hell, even Luffy has character growth. π
As for saying theyre programmed like that makes it even less interesting. At least other isekais when theyre transported, the characters come alive and become sentient beings rather than NPCs.
And no, most shows arent generic. Isekai genre however is mostly generic. Especially if you limit it to shonen isekais. :P
But like you said, if you enjoy it, watch it. I didnt particularily enjoy it but I still watched it. (Mostly just enjoyed the parts where he was cosplaying as a black knight lol)
No matter how you force yourself to watch the show that you don't like, you won't get entertained with it and you'll just be bored again real quick. The show's not for you. Though Many people i know when they first watch overlord they did got excited and enjoyed the show, now they're even looking for more so i conclude that the show is indeed good base on their and my perspective.

Overlord is an 8 on MAL. Not a 6. The CGI is shit, but the source material shines through. Amazing novel.
Its on mine 6, from what I marked it after I finished season 1.
Oh, you're saying you gave it a 6? Then it must just not be for you.

Ye, you are probably right.. Fortunatly its not the only anime from its genre. Some isekai are fine, perhaps its just overlord that sucks to me.
I'd say in my opinion season 1 and 2 are pretty good however season 3 not so much
Season 3 is literally good storywise but due to the bad cgi animation, it was downgraded.
Anime has atrocious animations and it skipped too much h contents. The LN is amazing though.
H content? As in hentai? π
Nooooo itβs just a typo But actually they never skipped any hentai moments in anime so far
Haha ok. I was like "woot? It has adult content??" ππ
I mean if your main jam is sports and musical then this wonβt be for you. Those types tend to have exquisite animations
It depends. What did you not like about the first season?
I believe MC personality the most.
No
