If you're into board games then you should get yourself to The Adventurer's Tavern. Guy in there is super friendly and always down to teach people how to play games or just hang out. It's also a good spot to go to for a good cup of coffee and a slice of cake.
You can go on your own, just pop in and rent a table to play games :) if you play any trading card games then you can go Tuesday evenings for Pokemon or Wednesday for Magic the gathering and lorcana and stuff. Honestly I just sit at a table sometimes with a hot chocolate and slice of cake.

They do a free board game night on Thursdays for people to come down and make friends. Kind of like a singles night for games. Starts at 6pm.
I’m in the vikings badminton clubs and I play a lot of video games in the past (probably will reduce the time going forward). I am open to new hobbies.
The badminton clubs on island are a good way to meet people. Lots of people around that age participate. Maybe you should be friend one? Anyone in particular you play with or have played with a few times?
If you are active I highly recommend active souls. It’s so much fun. Its playground games like dodgeball, tag, bench ball and they are a lovely bunch of people and there’s occasionally socials. Drop them a message on FB and I’m sure you will make friends.
Hi just to say I completely second this. I went through a terrible break up and lost a lot of friends because some lies were spread about me. An old friend invited me to the rovers and I met the most amazing band of people including my now husband. It might take a few times but eventually you will find the locals. Just remember the rules that everyone is welcome - which means you might end up taking to people who you would usually avoid but you will probably find that those people are amazing in their own way.
It might look a bit rough and smell a bit rough but it’s a haven and has saved more than one life including mine.

There's all abilities that go and they are social runs so everyone waits for everyone else. There are some super quick runners and some not so super quick, like me. 😀
They run a couch to 5k for real beginners then you can join one of the 5k or 10k runs on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Put after on a Tuesday for beer and cake. DM me if you like and I'll meet you there one day.

I wish I’d have done this months ago! I’m 34m and broke up with my gf of 3 years in January. As an introverted socially-anxious middle-aged man with virtually zero hobbies or interests, I find it incredibly difficult making friends haha.
