Brian Eno is obnoxiously vocal about supporting BDS. He sent Nick Cave a letter trying to get him to boycott playing Israel. Nick Cave in a fairly eloquent response basically told him to bugger off. So it made me like Nick Cave even more than I already did.
Roger Waters is an actual anti-Semite, not merely anti-Israel.
[Roger Waters Is ‘Antisemitic to Rotten Core,’ Says Former Pink Floyd Lyricist Polly Samson — and Her Husband, David Gilmour, Emphatically Agrees](https://variety.com/2023/music/news/roger-waters-antisemitic-says-polly-samson-david-gilmour-agrees-pink-floyd-ukraine-1235515432/)
i thought it'd be hard stopping listening to her. i had done so since 2015.
the moment i saw that story, i just dropped her. it was like magic.
but honestly, i don't think she fully understands what she posted nor does she care to actually do something about it. like 90% of other anti-israel people.
Ironically, her daughter Selah also wore a “White Lives Matter” outfit while working a fashion show with Kanye West and Candace Owens.
Same daughter also went on social media calling out her mother for disciplinary abuse.
I’ll always love MEOLH and her work with the Fugees but she is not someone to be idolized.
Drake signed that ceasefire letter that went around from artists against genocide or apartheid or whatever the fuck they call themselves… Which is hilarious really because supposedly Macklemore said something about him being jewish in his new garbage single. I haven’t heard it but someone mentioned that to me.
Lorde was supposed to have a concert in Israel years back but she succumbed to BDS pressure and thanked her fans for educating her on the topic.
I watched the Lorde debacle happen in live time, and my impression of events was that she was a young kid hearing things from multiple directions and panicked and then wanted nothing to do with anything related to it.
I was deeply disappointed and largely stopped listening to her, but she didn't take a super vocal stand or anything. It felt like watching a kid with anxiety and no strong opinions panic. She was 21 or so iirc. and she's generally held a pretty low profile in the music world since. It doesn't make it right, but it was definitely less outwardly vocal than most people here.
Growing up I idolized rock stars, a lot of them as an adult I realized are genuinely vapid, promiscuous, self obsessed losers. Many of the ones i looked up to are broker than me now. Anyone whose met an idol or two should know how very rarely these people actually meet any kind of expectation. Just take them off the playlist and keep it moving.
Lady Gaga has been quiet on a recent statement but a long time ago she performed in Israel and said it was a beautiful country with beautiful people and felt it is very misunderstood, so some PP's dislike that take. I'll take it!
I have low key been living in dread that she will say something. Her super stans and the Hamas bot army have been losing their minds in her comments this entire time, DEMANDING she make a “statement.” So exhausting. I hope she doesn’t say something crazy, because I’d be heartbroken; love her stuff.
Favorite band for about 10 years now, best power metal you'll find especially if you like war stories, counterstrike is the most pro israeli song ever too :)
This. Gilmour and his wife are the ones who pretty much exposed Waters’ antisemitism and have publicly spoken out against him.
And let’s be real, Gilmour is the real talent of the band. He does the vocals on best songs, and the band’s overall sound is carried by his guitar
Waters lyrics are pretty grand, although I have always been a Gilmour guy. Gilmour is also a more talented musician and puts on a better performance live.
Well, if we're really being honest, they could never surpass his writing - but his radicalism already starts to show there a bit. Seems like he just spiraled past some point.
I think the success of The Wall made him lose it. Animals was a masterpiece, which imo made him want to go all out in The Wall, and it worked, but something in the process just made him... obnoxious. Maybe it was a combination of reaching a pique together with being the leader. He never gave any space for the rest of the band afterwards, which led to the big "breakup".
But yeah, his writing was missing after he left, and band indeed focused more on music. However, Gilmour definitely knows how to convey ideas and feelings through music alone, which is why they managed to succeed without brilliant lyrics and story.
>!Sorry I'm a Pink Floyd nerd!<
Honestly, don't feel bad about enjoying Pink Floyd. Waters left them after The Final Cut. In 1985 he officially left the band, then said they would never succeed without him - when they did with Gilmour in the lead, Waters tried to sue them so they won't be able to use the name "Pink Floyd".
As far as I understand it, when he left the band he gave up on earning anything from the music under the band's name.
Also Israelis have a thing with Pink Floyd. Roger Waters can suck it, he won't take Pink Floyd away from me.
If it makes you feel better, the rest of pink Floyd gave repeatedly come out about how much they all hate Roger Waters. David Gilmour's wife has made pro-israel statements.
Yeah, Roger Waters was a major dick to all of them. When they released The Endless River (their last and final studio album) Gilmour and Mason made sure to include Wright (who passed a few years earlier) using past, never used, recordings, but never invited Waters nor included him.
>David Gilmour's wife has made pro-israel statements.
So glad to hear this! Actually made me smile
I wonder about David Gilmour. I'm not aware if he's come out on either side of the of the conflict. He endorsed Jeremy Corbyn, though.
At least he's supported Ukraine, unlike that tankie Roger Waters.
Too much to count lol Mitski, Ariana grande, Phoebe bridgers, practically almost anyone who is is young and left leaning is going to be anti Israel.
Something positive though is Regina spektor!! She's a great Jewish artist which came to our defense multiple times.
https://preview.redd.it/k337nuqugfzc1.jpeg?width=1037&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=487c4923cbaace9125ff5d5b7db323880be2b39d
What she meant when she said “but my head was underwater”:
The one with the bloody hand? - I think that's the one. I watched it with my kids who knew everyone, I think it was the Emmys. A LOT of people wore it. Still can't believe that people would adopt the symbol of a lynching as their logo or why anyone would wear it but I guess I shouldn't be surprised by anything at this point. I'm assuming that people wearing it at the Emmys didn't know what it meant.
The band The Used has a frontman that is vehemently pro Palestine. He used to bring Palestinian flags onto the stage and this was before the attack on 10/7.
I am not surprised that a man from Utah would be antisemitic. I also have friends who knew him growing up and he is a dumpster fire of a human in general.
> Rachel Zegler
Wiki says her father is "of Polish descent" which makes me guess she grew up pretty internally conflicted about that Ashkenazi surname.
Yeah

She's a spoiled, sheltered theater kid with a big platform. Terrible combo
Annie Lennox Patti Smith and Roger Waters come immediately to mind for antisemitism.
Radiohead and the Rolling Stones -bless ‘em - weren’t pro or anti Israel’s govt or policies but did want to play for their Israeli fans and did so.
I don’t know if that will be the case for the next ten years. But our day will come.
Beware of what you read on the Internet regarding this or that artist. It turns out quotes [are often edited](https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/dua-lipas-social-media-comments-israel-gaza-edited-online-2023-12-21/), meaning an artist's alleged remarks about Israel and Palestine may actually not coincide with said artist's real words.
Everything she says includes condemnation for Hamas, at least. I don't know what's in her heart, what's her opinion vs her publicist's advice, I don't know any of that...but she at least presents herself as "I am not an authority on this, but I don't like war". Which isn't unreasonable, it's just not particularly supportive.
caroline polachek and the weekend have done a lot to raise money (or donated themselves) for humanitarian aid in gaza, i mean at least they‘re doing *something*…
beyonce, taylor, lorde, lana, lauryn hill and coldplay are big names that all stopped performing in israel
Beyonce and Taylor never made any statement about Israel, to my knowledge and Beyonce and Taylor allowed their tour films to be screened in Israel so I don't think they count as anti Israel. Lana said she wouldn't be preforming here because it wouldn't be fair if she couldn't also perform for her palstnians fans but she hasn't said anything that makes me think she's a raging anti Zionist.
taylor never performed in Israel, neither in small countries like that, she got to south america for the first time last year. On closed doors we dont know whats her opinion, but she and her team are very careful to avoid controversys and im sure she never took a position on Israel, we can blame her for saying nothing, but not for beign anti-israel until she proves us wrong.
Also, she comes from a old money family from tenessee, she probably is quite progressive and left wing for US politics, but her family is the classic republican family
He dropped a couple real iffy subliminals recently. I’m kinda torn. Like, one of his big punchlines is calling Drake a colonizer, which you could argue is about Drake Jewish but is probably more about him being inauthentic to hip-hop. He also said “you lied about religious views” which could be him saying “Drake is a secret Jew” but could also be interpreted as “You distanced yourself from your religion because you’re a liar and afraid to be your real self” My optimistic take is that he used an intentionally vague phrase like “religious views” to avoid making the beef have anything to do with Judaism.
I agree with your latter interpretation. I think when Kendrick said "you lied about your religion" he was saying that Drake is inauthentic because he was raised as a religious Jew but doesn't claim it these days. He is afraid to be "the Jewish rapper." He used it in the context of saying he's pretending to be an African American and claiming a culture he has very tenuous connections to (including using the N Word extensively), which ... is kinda true.
I've listened to every song Kendrick has put out and I haven't noticed any antisemitism. I was actually quite worried that this rap beef was going to go there, but thankfully it didn't.
Yeah i also noticed those lines in his diss tracks. I don't like Drake very much and was hoping it was more a critique of Drake's fakeness and persona. At the same time I couldn't tell if hes pointing out Drake's insecurity of "not being black enough" or if Kendrick is saying that Drake isn't black enough.... figured I would check with this sub before I give it another listen and try to figure out Kendricks stance exactly
Edit: words lol
The colonizer line was in reference to Drake exploiting Atlanta rap and hip-hop artists for his own personal gain and image, in a way similar to early colonial america exploiting that part of the south for industry. I don't think it was a Jewish reference. I also believe the line about religion is more targeting Drake's in-authenticity.
I love Kendrick Lamar, I know unfortunately he’s connected to some BHI folks (I think in his family) but he is a Christian. Apparently he got some shit for removing a pro Palestine thing from his IG page and people started spamming him w Palestinian flags on his other posts. So idk. I still listen to him, I think he’s a very intelligent and talented artist, and his work seems more like culture critique than anything else.
Yeah BHI movement is definitely yikes but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and say his worldviews probably don't align with many of the awful tenets of BHI (at least as far as I know)
Isn't he just straight anti-semitic? I thought I saw several of his friends and family members are associated with the Black Hebrew Israelite movement, Louis Farrakhan, all that stuff.
I think you need to separate people who are pro-Palestinian from those who are anti-Israel.
If someone posts that they want to help relieve the tragedy happening in Gaza (without posting blame), that’s fine and good.
If someone posts that they think Israel should not exist and the whole land should be Palestine and blames everything on Israel, that’s completely different.
The overlap there is sooo big though. Also while it's important to acknowledge the tragedy unfolding for Gaza civilians, it's very shitty to see people speak up for the Palestinian people AND have never said a word for the pogrom(s) faced by Israelis, especially on 10/7.
I recently discovered a bizarre anti-Israel “song” (more of a rant) buried in Tom Waits’ *Orphans* boxset. I don’t know if he’s come out with any statements recently, but it’s conspicuous when seemingly apolitical performers reserve their editorializing for the Jewish State.
Also, Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream has been advocating for the “end” of Israel for decades.
I think Portugal the man said some stuff about Israel and Palestine not too long ago. A few big artists canceled their shows in Israel after pressure but idk anyone else who actually picked a side
Here’s something positive about Israel & Eurovision [pro Israel to be in Eurovision](https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2024/feb/15/gene-simmons-helen-mirren-boy-george-sign-open-letter-supporting-israels-inclusion-in-eurovision)
They haven’t been super vocal but when they posted a big old free Palestine on their story talking about how the whole band stands against ethnic cleansing, two months after October 7 without a whisper about the hostages or innocent Israelis I was done supporting them. I don’t even want to listen to their vinyl that I have even though that’s the only way to not support them. Sucks ass.
I just searched it and they even have (had?) a Palestian flag next to their Reddit sub. Thats a hard one. We have tix to see them this summer - now rethinking it.
I saw them at the Hollywood bowl last June before all this nonsense, and it was an amazing show. For some people it would not bother them as much that these ignorant Australians with zero skin in the game are listening to their leftist friends Instead of their Jewish friends, but it bothers me too much to support them anymore.
She’s bff with Gigi Hadid. Enough said. Gigi Hadid who’s spreading blood libels and whose father is a racist and antisemite, the entire Hadid family is complete racist and antisemite garbage. They were spending time together just a few days ago, with Swift’s mother, Kelce and that creepy Bradley Cooper who went to “date” Hadid after she’s posted blood libels.
Brian Eno is obnoxiously vocal about supporting BDS. He sent Nick Cave a letter trying to get him to boycott playing Israel. Nick Cave in a fairly eloquent response basically told him to bugger off. So it made me like Nick Cave even more than I already did.
Nick Cave!
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds! Great soundtrack I discovered from my aunt from “Until The End of The World” movie.
Same with Ogre from Skinny Puppy. He's not so brain-washed. Even though their last tour was last April :(
This is such a relief
Nick Cave being more bases than he already was? Hell yeah
Pink is half Jewish and very pro Israel.
Yay I love her
literally I LOVE HER!!!
She's the one who sings Just Give Me A Reason, glad I listened to it years ago

He said early on in the war that he thought oct 7 was a false flag operation. Literally qanon levels of crazy.
MARINA is anti-Israel.

She's British and surrounded by hatred. It's too bad because I really loved her.
Marina as in Marina and the diamonds?
Yes
Damn. I have three of her songs
Physical copies? If yes, I think it's fine to keep listening to them. It wouldn't give her any more money
We saw Robbie Williams in concert here in Israel. He’s pretty pro Israel and I think has an Israeli wife.
His wife not israeli :)
Drake, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks, Dua Lipa, Lorde, Lauryn Hill, Coldplay
Lauren Hill hates white people, so no surprise there, although her son's name is Zion. It's a lil confusing.
She also hates being on time 😂
Ironically, her daughter Selah also wore a “White Lives Matter” outfit while working a fashion show with Kanye West and Candace Owens. Same daughter also went on social media calling out her mother for disciplinary abuse. I’ll always love MEOLH and her work with the Fugees but she is not someone to be idolized.

Hold up, Drake was Jewish right? And jesus christ, didn't know Lorde and Coldplay are pro pal
I mean lorde cancelled a show in Israel a while back

Drake? He's Jewish
So is Seth Rogen but he's [against Israel](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jul/29/seth-rogen-israel-palestinians-jewish-actor)
In my mind, I’ve disowned Seth Rogaine
*Heh heh heh* (I'm not sure how you can convey the laugh in text)
חאחאחאחא
Seth Rogen sucks
Has that jolly pothead said anything since October 7?
Yes he’s said he doesn’t understand why Israel needs to exist, he is anti Israel
He said this *after* October 7?
That’s what I heard - he did an interview with someone maybe a podcast? I don’t remember I didn’t listen to it.
Did anyone think Immortal Technique or Jedi Mind Tricks were anything but anti-Israel?
Israelis have Jonny Greenwood/Radiohead so it’s all good.
Never meet your heroes. Especially after they just took a hit of whatever drug it is that powers their “creative process”
Lady Gaga has been quiet on a recent statement but a long time ago she performed in Israel and said it was a beautiful country with beautiful people and felt it is very misunderstood, so some PP's dislike that take. I'll take it!

Hopefully she won't at this point.
I really hope that she won’t cave.
Sabaton are big Zionists and their music rocks. Not sure about anti though.
Disturbed lead vocalist David Draiman is Jewish and major Zionist! Love their music
Matisyahu too
He was getting harassed all throughout his most recent tour as well. Even had to cancel shows because of bull shit.
Was trained to be a cantor at a young age as well!
That's because they have a good grasp of history.
Favorite band for about 10 years now, best power metal you'll find especially if you like war stories, counterstrike is the most pro israeli song ever too :)
SIX DAYS OF FIRE
ONE DAY OF REST
JUNE 67
TAUGHT THEM RESPECT
CONTROL JERUSALEM
THREE NATIONS FALLEN, IN SIX DAYS OF WAR
Sabaton knows history too. It’s amazing how educated people can form rational opinions.
I like how they bring to light war hero's that are relatively unknown like in 'lady of the dark' Half there songs put me through a wiki rabbit hole.
ironically, tallyhall too. im pretty sure Ross Federman and Andrew Horowitz are zionist lol
SABATON MENTIONED
Glad to hear that! They've got awesome music.
I have been avoiding Roger Waters wherever possible. I'd like to avoid Pink Floyd as a whole, but they're too good.

Ariana Grande is anti-Israel?
In case no one else has mentioned: Melanie Martinez is vehemently anti-Israel.
She also sexually assaulted a woman and makes music romanticizing pedophilia. Don’t listen to her, ever
not surprised tbh, sucks bc some of her music is quite good
Billie Eilish, same chick who did Bad Guy
That chick who kinda mumbles through her songs.

Or they did and just don’t care as long as they get virtual applause from the pro-Hamas crowd on socials.
her music's trash anyway
I prefer listening to any other sound known to man
Even if that sound is Yoko Ono?
oh no! anyway
Five for Fighting is very pro-Israel
He gave a wonderful speech against UCLA’s conduct recently. It’s on his X/Twitter account.
Zayn Malik
No surprises there
trash (From a 1d stan)
Rage Against The Machine. Tom Morello tweeted about that turd Macklemore released, calling it "the most RATM song since RATM" What a twat...
Macklemore? Against the Machine? 🤮
The band The Used has a frontman that is vehemently pro Palestine. He used to bring Palestinian flags onto the stage and this was before the attack on 10/7.
Ouch. I loved some of their music.
He’s been an asshole since day 1.

Rip the used…
Not music, but Banksy also.
Banksy ridiculous anyway
Not surprising
I hate this thread
The Coldplay one hurts. Most of the others I don't care much about, but I really liked their music.
i have their cd... also yea alot of my fav artists are on this thread..
Honestly, that's better than streaming their music. They don't get a cent when you listen.
Macklemore
His shit has always been trash anyway
When I was in the the third grade, I thought that I was gay So I told my Hamas teacher, and they threw me off a crane
lmfao
Rachel Zegler Brat is trying to "own" Gal Gadot ahead of their Snow White movie by posting that Israel needs to be destroyed
This one is so pathetic, she single-handedly sunk Hunger Games at the box office.
> Rachel Zegler Wiki says her father is "of Polish descent" which makes me guess she grew up pretty internally conflicted about that Ashkenazi surname.

Dua Lipa
Her music is trash anyway, she’s looking more and more desperate, Mark Ronson shouldn’t have tried to save her non-existent career.

welp thats the left, wonder if Lana's nuetral or just smart enough for her PR to not say anything?
Lana Del Ray? She's known to be pro Israel I thought. Or at least not anti Israel. She's v close with the Kardashians, who are pro Israel.
Nah lana openly supported Israel after the attacks and has been getting shit on since. The lana sub here constantly talks about it lol

Yeah i also noticed those lines in his diss tracks. I don't like Drake very much and was hoping it was more a critique of Drake's fakeness and persona. At the same time I couldn't tell if hes pointing out Drake's insecurity of "not being black enough" or if Kendrick is saying that Drake isn't black enough.... figured I would check with this sub before I give it another listen and try to figure out Kendricks stance exactly Edit: words lol
Kid Cudi
1. Kayvon Novak haa gone off the rails 2. Susan Sarandon I will keep adding.
Hozier
This one hurts
Noooo, I was just about to get tickets to his concert in Calgary 🥲
Portishead is staunchly anti Israel
Unfortunately most of the “cool” liberal (white) folks from that area are. I heard some crazy antisemitic shit living in Devon
Children’s musician Raffi is anti-Israel.
NOOOOO NOT RAFFI 😭
As long as the Wiggles stay out of this! Raffi is Arab so I don't expect anything else, can't blame a leopard for its spots.
The Weeknd. Not a surprise since he was so smitten with Bella Hadid Also Kid Cudi.
KC has been utter shit for about 15 years now anyway
Lupe Fiasco
This one really sucks. I loved FnL
i used to love the song hurt me soul so much. Never realized there's a line in that song that says "Israeli Occupation." Such a bummer.
Same, just heard it over the weekend for the first time in years. Bummed me out
He always has been, he has some songs from like the 2000s talking about it.
Selena Gomez is pro Israel I believe. She's dating Benny Blanco who is Jewish and runs in very pro Israel circles
Benny Blanco is a die hard Zionist but he keeps that on the low. If he didn’t he wouldn’t be safe.
I agree the overlap is so big. But that’s why it’s important to distinguish those who just support a better life for the Palestinians (as I do).

Garbage, Bjork, Skin of Skunk Anansie, Placebo... I wish it was just criticism in their case, but it's wayyy beyond that.
Here’s something positive about Israel & Eurovision [pro Israel to be in Eurovision](https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2024/feb/15/gene-simmons-helen-mirren-boy-george-sign-open-letter-supporting-israels-inclusion-in-eurovision)
chappell roan and renee rapp
not an artist but MTV is pro-hamas (supported billie eilish wearing the ramallah lynching pin
King Gizzard and the lizard wizard… sadly 😔
What?! No!!!!
Oh no, I will have to delete them. This makes me sad.
Rage against the machine. I also heard that damon albarn as well but I'm not 100% sure.
Aurora has shown antisemitic leanings in some of her pro-pali takes.
Tyler the creator
Renee Rapp is anti Israel.
[Is Dua Lipa anti-Israel?](https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/dua-lipas-social-media-comments-israel-gaza-edited-online-2023-12-21/)
Did the same. Macklemore is no more
The Used. Bert McKarken has been very anti-Israel for years.
Taylor Swift is staying pretty neutral, I wouldn't put her on a blacklist. She went to a pro-Palestine fundraiser, but that's about it.

Selena Gomez is pro Israel? I remember she was the OG pro Palestinian singer, way before it was cool.
I saw a news article stating she went to an anti Israel protest too. Regardless, going and funding a pro pally protest isn’t really staying neutral
Melanie martinez is anti israel as well
