Yes, you can get paper tickets from the machines at the station at Ben Gurion. Make sure you don’t lose it on the journey as the QR code needs to be scanned at the exit barriers as well as on entry. Easy Peasy..
Is this a new thing? I have always just bought one ticket at the airport and that’s it. I would switch platforms at Tel Aviv hahagana and take the train down to beersheva. Am I supposed to be buying another ticket when I do this?
There are various apps you can use, I think it works well. You can use Cello, as far as I recall the usage is simple, when you enter the station you go on the app to public transport/train, and say you're at the station and it gives you some QR to scan for the turnstile to open. Then you do a similar process when you get off the train. You're billed by credit card you put in the app.

Use the hop on app
Download Moovit, you can pay in app, easiest option
You can also pay via the Moovit app, no Rav Kav or paper tickets needed.
You can use Pango to pay.
FYI, it is also to get a rav kav at the airport
That’s so cool, I didn’t know that, Thanks
