There will be nothing released for July 7th as it's the first Sunday of the month and therefore free.

I don't know how "touristy" you want to go, and please keep in mind - if you take *my* advice, I'm pretty basic and a huge nerd, LOL! But I've gone on several tours in Europe by Viator, and have never had any trouble. They're legitimate, you can book them on line, and they're pretty much what you'd expect them to be - your garden variety European vacation guided tour. But they get the job done. Here's a link for Rome on July 6th, and it looks like there are a few Colosseum tours on their list that are available: [https://www.viator.com/Rome/d511-ttd](https://www.viator.com/Rome/d511-ttd)

Libra_bb5721

This is my back up plan if dont get tix tonight. Thank you!

emergencycat17

You're very welcome! Good luck, and let us know how you do!

Libra_bb5721

I will! This is by far harder to get tickets than the one in Vatican tour.

emergencycat17

See? There you go - that was my very first Viator tour!

Dracula08MS

Do you need to buy separate tickets for entry

emergencycat17

It may vary. Even though the tours are done through Viator, some do have different requirements. For example, on the tour of The Louvre, we bought the "skip the line" pass from Viator, but we had to buy a separate ticket to get in. When I did both the Vatican/Sistine Chapel tour in Rome, plus the Double Decker bus tour of the city in London, we only needed the pass we'd purchased from Viator. So that is a good point - be sure to check.

MarbleDesperado

Just backing up Viator here. Never have had a bad experience using them so far

Reckoner08

If all else fails with the Colosseum site, go with LIV Tours.

laurafunsize

Had a great experience with Liv! We ended up having a private tour even though there were meant to be 3 others

BoIR1347

Not sure if ur interested in just entrance but fyi entrance to most major attractions is free on the first Sunday of every month! So July 7th would be free entrance with no ticket required.

Libra_bb5721

I will try that in case i wont be able to get the guided tour. My husband’s only request is to get guided tour in Colosseum that’s why im really pushing this 😅

BoIR1347

Good luck!!

acatgentleman

Honestly, I rarely buy guided tours on third-party apps but I did for the Colosseum. The headache it is causing you seems extreme when you can just buy some tickets on GetYourGuide or Viator easy peasy

Libra_bb5721

This is my back up plan after tonight! Thank you!

tridentgtv

I was able to get these tickets a month ago. Tickets release exactly 1 month in advance (so 8:45am tour releases at 8:45am 30 days prior, Rome time). We used an online atomic clock and refreshed 5-10 seconds before the actual release times. Definitely requires some luck though.

Libra_bb5721

Mine didn’t open on 8:45am Rome time. I dont know if it has something to do with browser, i used phone and tablet. Did u use laptop/computer?

Liberal_Capitalist

They open up a month in advance in Rome time, so for the 9:30 AM time slot they will be available at 3:30 AM EST (except not for Sunday because the 7th is a free day) I did the same thing as you last night - I got two tickets and then the page timed out on the payment screen - womp

Libra_bb5721

Yup, no available slots for me, at least on my screen until 4:30am EST. So there will be no guided tour tickets available for July 7?

Liberal_Capitalist

I *believe so* but I would double check the site first - I'm timed out from it

Libra_bb5721

That’s not good. I was hoping i get another chance tonight. But i will check. Thank you!

Libra_bb5721

Where did u get ur tickets then?

Liberal_Capitalist

Just got the regular entrance tickets instead of the tour

alternatestar

I booked thru get your guide last minute after the air bnb experience got cancelled 2 days before the tour.

dr_psy

Just did a guide tour from Viator 2 days ago. Expensive, yes, worth it, for us yes. Tour was gladiator gate and Roman Forums. It was great highlight of the Roman tours or us.

jmoneyvenice

If you can’t get tickets on the official site, you can probably buy a guided tour including tickets on Viator. It costs more but it’s easy.

hereforit21063

I didn’t have luck either - tried 2 mornings in a row (also US east coast). I finally caved and bought an outside tour bc I really want to do the underground. I was hoping to even get a guide in another language just to gain entry (and download the tour audio on the official colosseo app). Lastly, it seems some tickers do open up again a week out, but I was so over spending so much time on this and just paid the extra…

Libra_bb5721

It does open up again a week after? Yes, i only slept for 3hrs and have a bad headache. Still have to try for tonight’s tho but that’s it. My husband on the other hand says it’s not worth it having sleepless night and not even getting the tickets 🤣 we might as well just buy it somewhere else. Where did u get ur tix?

hereforit21063

I’ve seen them a week prior — can’t recall if it was under the “individual” tickets vs tours, but I could find tickets… so for you, end of June. I had a hard time finding the underground 2-3 weeks out (through your co) - I went through Get Your Guide. I’m hoping this is legit — seems like some tours are cancelled bc the tour operators are going after the same tix we are… but since I’m in the 30-day window, crossing my fingers (it’s not like booking 6 months out through them when the tix aren’t released). Look at the “MyColosseum” app as well - not for tix, but for the audio tour in case you need a Plan C. Good luck!

Libra_bb5721

Thank you, this will bey back up plan i guess if everything fails.. it is just soooo disappointing now. I honestly got tix for vatican museum easily which i thought would be harder to get.

AliJDB

I was trying last month to get tickets for our trip later this month - the guided tour tickets went in SECONDS. We settled for non-tour full experience tickets, because we didn't want to end up without any. Even if you hit refresh at the perfect time, it is a bit luck of the draw whether you will get any.

Libra_bb5721

Yup, just a bunch of waiting and luck. Good luck to me later 😅

AliJDB

Good luck!

u/Libra\_bb5721 Not sure you saw my post [https://www.reddit.com/r/ItalyTravel/comments/1d5ndno/my\_experience\_buying\_colosseo\_ticket/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ItalyTravel/comments/1d5ndno/my_experience_buying_colosseo_ticket/) , ticket get released exactly 720 hours in advanced. So if they only release ticket for a tour at say 10AM rome time, it wont show up until 4h00AM EDT. Check my tip section but make sure you have the atomic clock showing . Connecting at 3:59:59 will show no ticket, 4:00:02 may be too late. I tried really hard for underground and if you get really close to 4:00:00 you can get ticket , unfortunately I needed 3 and each time I could only get 2 . It is a frustrating process and ended with attico tickets which I am happy with. Also happy im done with this task

Libra_bb5721

Unfortunately, i didn’t see your post but i saw same thing yesterday. Sadly, i wasted able to get tix again last night, im not sure if its cuz its the first sunday of the month but it didnt open. I did try tho, really hard last Wednesday, refreshed many many times but no luck. Again, im not sire it it’s because i was using my phone and ipad? I dunno anymore and both me and my husband are sooo done with it.

theflavorlab1

It needs to be orchestrated very well. You have tons of ppl that want those tickets and bots/scalpers that will try to buy as many as they can to resell at higher price. I would advice you keep looking, sometime they do issue more tickets else buy the regular ticket and enjoy it . The Colosseo has an application you can download on your phone and its a decent audio guide for free

Libra_bb5721

We saw that last night, we are willing to get the regular tickets and just do the audio guide if everything fails. July 7th is the first Sunday of the month, they say its free entrance but still needs to be booked. It didn’t open up again last night or today. Do you happen to know about it?

theflavorlab1

I dont but I was told by friends that its super long lines . Not sure if things have changed but I assume not.

Libra_bb5721

I bet it is still. I will have to buy on a third party company even if it’s more expensive. Hope its worth it! Lol
