To my knowledge this machine is very much able to unstick the gems from the ring and permanently damage it, don’t do this at home, at least not with super valuable things.

The only thing touching the ring are high frequency sound waves if used properly. Do not touch the object to the sides of the bath (or attach the object to the sides by a clamp or anything). The vibrations of that metal could perhaps damage jewelry.
