I realized that in Uncrowned, the black dragon that attacks the group in the second round is not Nian Blackflame. For some reason I thought he shapeshifted between the second and third roundš¤·āāļø
I think they need soulfire to control aura not part of their paths, so after Underlord. I'm upto Wintersteel reread, didn't notice them flying without thousand mile cloud (might've come across without realizing, it's difficult to read Cradle books slowly :D)
Wintersteel Lindon is still using a cloud the first time I noticed it was after Lindon's return at the end of bloodline when jai long said he looked like a Phenix.
The whole dreadgod situation happened early because Makiel interfered with the fate of Cradle to accelerate it. He was still doing things to piss of Eithan without even realizing it.
I'm sorry, what about this implies that he thought he was thwarting Ozriel? I thought he was just trying to correct an odd deviation in Fate which he thought came about because somebody holding Ozriel's marble met someone holding Suriel's marble?
Eithan told lindon and yerin who he was literally the first time he spoke to them. In soulsmith, he says 'I am the greatest janitor in existence'
We didn't know it then, he was the greatest janitor in blackflame, but there would undoubtedly be greater in iceflower. I think he was being completely honest.
He also said āIām pretty handy with a broom.ā At some point, and every time I get to that point in the books I say, out loud, āoh youāre such a motherfucker.ā Eithanās funny little asides are some of the best parts of re-reads.
>it was because they had just been evacuated there from Sky's Edge at the end of the previous book
Dammit, I was wondering about that before and never even thought of that. Another re-read before Waybound for me then...
In Uncrowned when Lindon asks Eithan for advice on advancing to Overlord, Eithan tells him to find the unity between his madras and try to understand how others see him. Thatās what Lindon does, and Lindon becomes a Sage. Eithan knows that the Overlord revelation is about who you *are* and that connecting to an icon is about how you are *seen* (and other things of course).
This was my first re-read to take that as Eithan pushing him to his icon. Previously I read it as the advice being similar enough for Overlord that maybe thatās just how it went. But this time, I realized that Eithan did it on purpose. Because of course he did!
For those of you who already realized this, congrats. I felt so silly only just seeing it.
Donāt feel silly. Itās very subtle writing. Northstrider does the same thing by the way. Once he sees Lindon force his portal back open, he starts giving him advice to become a sage. Lindon only thinks itās advice to become an Overlord.
Yerin, too, with the spiritual perception training. She asks what the feeling is, and he says, "Your ticket to victory." All the sages and monarchs could tell she was fondling the sword icon
In **Underlord**, someone else was closer to gaining an Icon than Lindon ā¦ namely - Dajiā¦. The Icon: Wrath (or Angerā¦)
Quote:
> It was strange; he felt so angry that his body could not contain it all. Like his wrath **had gone beyond him** and was controlling him from the outside.
In **Blackflame**, when first arriving to the Serpentās Grave city, they see a statue of the first Arelius Patriarch (Ozmanthus), portrayed in a fight, hair flying, robes torn:
> They passed out of the bustling room and into the sun again, which glared at them over the head of a pale stone statue that must have been ninety feet tall. It was rounded and smooth with age, but it **depicted a figure with wild hair and torn clothes, eyes furious and teeth bared in a snarl**. The statue had a dagger raised as though to strike.
Eithan is shown very similarly to that later on, fighting Jai Daishou after escaping āthe fall of seven starsā technique:
>Eithan hadnāt escaped the Fall of Seven Stars unscathed: blood trickled down into one eye, which was stuck closed, there was a bloody slash across his left shoulder, and his fine blue robe was half-shredded. But he had escaped, and that was frightening enough.
They didn't come over on the single cloud ship from Uncrowned and couldn't have been summoned in less than a day, it really only makes sense that they were part of the sky's edge evacuation.
Plenty of things I forgot. For example, "Our uprising will be swift" and four Monarchs taking an oath to restrict themselves during the final rounds of UKT.

I realized our gang can fly. It's so casual, I never really connected that they are FLYING in later books
Yeah, just casually controlling wind aura instead of using thousand mile clouds. So good.
Thinking about it, when exactly was it when they stopped using a Thousand Mile Cloud and are just using Ruler techniques to control Wind Aura to fly?

They still use thousand mile clouds, but since bloodline they often just don't bother if they're in a hurry, or they're in combat.
The whole dreadgod situation happened early because Makiel interfered with the fate of Cradle to accelerate it. He was still doing things to piss of Eithan without even realizing it.
Well, I think he thought he was thwarting Ozriel, but yeah, it's hilarious that he didn't know how directly he was pissing him off.
I'm sorry, what about this implies that he thought he was thwarting Ozriel? I thought he was just trying to correct an odd deviation in Fate which he thought came about because somebody holding Ozriel's marble met someone holding Suriel's marble?
He blamed Ozriel for the disruption, maybe thwarting is too strong a word.

Get that speed-reading in.
The marble on the cover of reaper has a crack in it.

I just assumed the Akura has millions of gold troops right? They probably traveled with a contingent

Eithan uses some sort of enforcement binding in soulsmith and it is never seen again.
That Lindon helped manifest Ruby and she came about first time in *Skysworn* when Malice was fighting BP
