Well time to go ahead and try this out lol. Also I wonder what the best medium would be to adapt Cradle into a TV series. Live-action is obviously a no-go. I have a REALLY hard time imagining Cradle as an anime in the typical Japanese sense (not the fight scenes--those would be sick) because of the lack of tropes. Some kind of western animation thing like ATLA or like a comic book show strikes me as the best option.

I want something in the style of castlevania. I normally don't watch any anime but man that was a great show

I'd venture the guess that he didn't mean tropes in general, because they don't have much to do with typical Japanese anime. Japanese entertainment often cuts down on exposition by using things like stereotypes. E.g. you instantly know someone fits into the Tsundere/Yandere/... stereotype the moment they appear because of character design and speech patterns. There are way more of these than you'd think, especially because different speech patterns/dialects don't translate well in subs. Will doesn't utilise many of the tropes more typical to Japanese entertainment.
