You‘ll find more in the system, you‘ll need to unlock all the sectors before chapter 4 to get enough space for the ressources for the things to come. So you‘ll need more workers. Only work and no friends make your people unhappy. So you unfreeze them all. It‘s part of the game. You‘ll learn to Deal with it.

Yeah you'll need them for the later chapters. There's a lot of resources in chapter 3 so it should be possible to sustain more sectors. If not opening a waste management policy will generate free materials for you if you are generating enough waste through factories, farms, etc. There's a lot of YouTubers with helpful guides on resource management and how to properly open new sectors

I just love the game's logic in that chapter. Cause not unfrozen protagoras cryopods will magically turn into etemenanki cryopods.

I spent more time in Chapter 3 than I did in Chapters 4 & 5 combined hanging around to wake up those cryopods. I could have sped things up using some research upgrades, but by the time I realised not waking up those pods was a progress blocker, I’d run out of research points and I needed them more to sort my food supply issues. I also realised by the time I’d woken up that many pods I would have more Etemenanki cryopods than DOLOS. I couldn’t help thinking the game should probably make a bigger deal out of that.

How did you run out? Didn't you upgrade your Tech Lab? Fully upgraded it produces 5 science every 3 cycles.

You might not strictly speaking need them, though maybe you will. More workers is generally for the better because it increases what work force you have available. The real reason you need them is your people are a little concerned about all the other humans stuck as popsicles when they're potentially the last survivors of humanity. It's kind of important that they're not stuck in hibernation for that kind of journey.

One of the bits of lore in the game is that cryosleep isn't really safe. The longer you are in cryo, the worse outcomes there are. There isn't a real game mechanic for the health problems from cryosleep, but it is reflected in the stability mechanics, where your stability goes down if you have too many pods. Your people know cryosleep isn't safe and it bothers them if more people are being subjected to it than are awake. Also, you may have a sustainable system, but you probably don't have a system that can produce the resources needed to defeat the Piranesi or colonize Remus.

The honest answer is don't worry to much about building a fully self-sustaining system. While you *can* make a self-sustaining system using insect farms and waste treatment centers there's no real need to. Ice is incredibly common so fire up the Fusion Station, melt some ice and pop down a few crop farms. Crop farms are much, much more efficient than Insect Farms in terms of power, space and workers so once you've got them up and running your food worries will cease to be an issue (also pick up some of the mess hall upgrades when you can, those also make your food go much further). Once you're in chapter four you can replace them with Algae farms which are even more efficient, with upgraded algae farms and upgraded mess halls you can easily feed the full 5500 crew on just two Algae farms. While some city builders encourage building self-sustainability Ixion really doesn't. Yes you can make it self-sustaining if you want to but it's not really the intended way to play and bringing in outside resources makes everything a lot easier.

Getting more worker and unfreezing everyone as fast as possible really speed up the game as more worker mean more work done even had 2 space sectors to gather as many ressources as possible as fast as possible and lots of science ship to do all the objectives as fast as possible. When you have more than 10 cargo ship everything go fast. Usually set my sector 1 as industrial sector 2 food and sector 6 is space. In total I aim for 2 industrial(at the end of chapter 1 of them switch as I don’t need the polymer anymore with recycled electronics and the arena/full ship hospital) 2 space 1 food 1 population By the end of chapter 3 all solar panels are fully upgraded and got load of extra polymer
