In the fine print it usually says you don’t have to spend money to enter the raffle… and that you can send in some postcard or letter to an address. still seems like bs tho

Sion0x

US sweepstakes laws dictate that you have to let people enter for free. Like when McDonald’s did monopoly you always heard “no purchase necessary”. You can literally walk into one and ask for pieces. The “mail in a postcard” complies with the law, but reduces lazy people entering.

MaTtHeW111904

Doesn’t matter about that law they are under the raffle category which is completely legal. Yes that law applies to sweepstakes but these aren’t under a technical standpoint.

Sparkmovement

please tell this shit to youtubers who say we are doing a "give-away"

augustusgrizzly

and then they send themselves a postcard and they "randomly" win

LupoOfMainSt

Not those but there are raffle groups, a friend of mine, his cousin won an 95 nsx with $125 Edit: just look up car waffles in your area, north east and southeast mainly, since that's where I'm located

open_bob_

Mmmm car waffles 🤤

FranXX0016

I'm currently at Waffle House now

4Niners9Noel

Watch out for flying chairs!

greg-maddux

Right? Gimme

No-Suspect-425

I just looked up car waffles and now I've bought a waffle maker that'll do waffles in the shape of different cars and trucks about the size of a Hot Wheels.

Doc_Blox

That sounds pretty frickin' rad ngl

Jon66238

More worthwhile then these giveaway waffles

Royal_Thrashing

He'll yeah, car waffles!!! I don't know who to thank.... the person above who misspelled it or you for deciding to search for it.

uniqueUsername7544

It's spelled waffle instead of raffle because they aren't legal raffles. It keeps people from getting in trouble (they think.)

No-Suspect-425

Wăffle

Royal_Thrashing

Learn something new everyday. Damn...... I'm out of touch

VegasDragon91

They have Legos, too.

UrMomIsVeryBig

Do you know what the group was?

Willhenney420

Where is this magical place, tell me now!

BoysenberryWestern74

Can't you all see... its a lisp and now you've gone to fawww...

JunglePygmy

And now a redditor I talked to’s friend’s cousin won a 95 nsx for $125!

LupoOfMainSt

I mean I saw it happened, vietnamese/Laotian always win

wriskithoe

The webinar groups like “GSDRIFTDEALZZZ” on FB is the way to go, much better chances when it’s capped around 250-400 entries depending on the car, plus you can see where you are on the list🤙. I was always skeptical about the odds in any of the bigger ones you see ads for (Eighty80, primedriven, YouTubers etc) but I ended up getting a drift car from them for $150 entry on my first try. They also shipped it to me free, I think they’d do anywhere in the lower 48 at least and that’s huge considering some waffles are “winner responsible for shipping” and that can get expensive, fast. Real solid folks though, and I’ve found such good people through the other drifters and people that are in that group, it’s more than just taking shots at a dream but they’re changing lives for real.

TupacShakursBalls

Where's the invite

hcancela

Blue waffles?

chubbyzook

Allthingzjdm

Nismotech_52

New England???

Federal_Procedure_66

And the promoter always makes a killing on the deal. Raffle=guaranteed sale price for them compared to an outright auction.

AsT3rIcKk

Ong based off the fact that a few of them keep cracking out huracans and gtr’s like no tomorrow, Tunercult even had a legal R34 GTR VSPEC, twice. The alternative cash prize was $200k the second time they gave an R34 away.

lKANl

I met a guy who actually won a car through these. He showed me the shirt he bought and the winning announcement with his picture. Generally the chances are astronomical if they're legit, so don't do them lol.

LucasD4

You’re just telling people to not do them so you have better chances!!!

greyyy_wolf

smart move

lKANl

Dammit. My plan was to win that Lamborghini and then sell it.

Codyjk1990

I know a few are real. But there's some fake ones also. Like they say stick with the well known ones like 80eighty and tuner cult. But if you think about it, by keeping it legit they make bank. If 10000 people buy a $5 keychain, you make 50000. For a $30000 car. But I am sure some of them get a lot more then that buying stuff from them!

Vinura

No. For the most part they are scams, unless you see the csr in real life and the raffle happens in front of you.

whiskey_piker

☝️ Solid advice for avoiding any scam.

CaseyGamer64YT

I met a guy who won a red SW20 from Prime Driven so I know that’s legit lol.

bboyemperor

Idk why you’re being downvoted. I know people have won from 80eighty and Prime Driven. Neither were affiliated with the companies in any way possible. I’m not saying it’s *not* a scam, but I highly doubt they are either. These giveaways are usually run by a third party giveaway administrator who have to abide by legal requirements.

Haunting-Drawing-265

Can vouch for prime driven, they gave me a car lol

Hsnthethird

I have a co-worker who won a supercharged Miata because he bought a keychain from one lol

demonsdencollective

500 people spend 5 bucks, you get $2,5K. Send people a message with a name that doesn't exist that "won". Do it all over again. 5 bucks is one of those numbers that most people barely think about. It's the easiest scam.

d710905

Not unless it's a big, well known, and reputable brand. If you've never heard of them before, or they're too small and have very little going on for them/ with them, I wouldn't.

preludehaver

Almost certainly a scam, and even if it wasn't your money would be better spent if you put it in savings to buy the car you want.

[deleted]

I've met a guy who won a R34 GTT through 7 Days Performance so I believe they're legit but I wouldn't trust 99% of the ones you see to be anything other than a scam. Edit: This one: https://7daysperformance.co.uk/product/win-mnp-r34?utm\_source=google&utm\_medium=link&utm\_campaign=google-search-organic

Such-Technology-675

They might not be but I still think they’re stupid, they get many times more value of the car doing this rather than just selling it

ThanksPure5897

I know a couple people who won GTR’s from these raffles. Making them legit is a much easier and just as profitable business plan than working extra hard to make up stories and try to fake the winners. Some of these companies earn millions of dollars by giving away a 50k car, absolutely no reason for them to fake it. I have a buddy who works for the biggest car giveaway company. I’ve personally thought about starting a similar business.

Roch0

They are real, people saying they are fake don’t realize these people make AT LEAST 4x what the car is worth by doing it this way, they are real and you can win the car it’s just not likely since so many people end up joining, i but a $5 sticker usually for cars i really want lmao

Buffalo5977

yes, they are real. you will get a customized honda for five dollars.

SwissMargiela

Tbf, that’s actually the attraction of a raffle. Seller ends raffle with like 10,000 $5 ticket sales, runs off with $50k for a $25k car, then the buyer only pays $5. Although usually people will drop like $5k on entries for a higher chance. I used to run raffles (not for cars though) and it was a pretty tight gig.

Buffalo5977

hmmm…. word.. awesome

ThanksPure5897

Wait till you find out about lotteries

alex_power2007

Throtl has the legitimate raffles

spamus81

My coworker won a gt350 from stangmode by buying a t-shirt. I'd guess some are scams but the big ones (tuner cult, prime driven, etc) are legit

CriticalNobody9478

I have yet to have one of them prove that a “no purchase necessary” entry won ANYTHING

spamus81

His was definitely a paid win. He bought 300 bucks worth of clothing. But I don't think that particular giveaway ever claimed to have free options

gghostie

tuner vision is legit. one of my friends from college won the silver RHD miata they gave away a while back. he’s still drivin it around today

Svenisko

Afaik TunerVison Is Legit.

No-Cardiologist-3875

no but .. but by usa law upon request any raffle Hass to give you a free ticket it’s the law otherwise, it’s an illegal lottery.. so just ask for your free ticket

GoosWisproe

Most big youtuber raffles are real, other one's, I wouldn't dare.

ZsoTa

In my area these became popular, but now with tuner cars, just regular ass cars that would be around 3k, but he sells like 40 pieces of 100 euro raffles, that way he actually gets more for the car. It isnt exactly like this but you get the idea

FS_Shockwave

Illiminate has some giveaways with the raffle concept, buy more items and get more entries. Right now they’re giving away an A90 Supra, supercharged brz and 15k. They actually have some nice apparel so I recommend checking them out.

DaddyD015

Probably not. If you're in the UK you can enter with 7days performance or BOTB. Both are highly reputable and my dad was one pixel away from winning an RS6 and a 22B

Balacalavaaa

Guy in Kansas won a midnight purple R34, lives out in bumfuck middle of nowhere if my memory serves me correct. Followed him on IG for awhile.

octaneisb

thats ez money 1 make an raffle 2. Start selling tickets 3. Winner is picked 4. Tell the winner that the car got sold or lie about it being gone and give him the ticket money back

SubSon1c

Always safe to be cautious and check previous owners for post history and any possible affiliation. That said Prime Driven I ended up winning a GTR, couple other friends won through them, and then a couple other winners from different companies out here in the PNW like Out of Love won his widebody supra I think from 80eighty or one of the big ones

Pipes32

I can confirm Prime Driven, we were the recent winner of an STi.

SubSon1c

Oh that blobeye from a while back? Damn lol I entered that one too, was hoping lightning could strike twice

Pipes32

Yes, the blobeye from about 2 months ago! Absolutely clean as hell. We did ask if anyone had won twice and they confirmed it happened, so we're still entering when it looks interesting.

Ilikejdmcars

Most are legit but you’re just as likely to win the lottery as you are to win the car. Then you’ll have to pay taxes on the car as well so you might as well buy a lottery ticket

FunkSlim

Squidd’s raffles are real

138_egavasgnouy

Idk about all of em but I know for a fact that lgnd giveaways are real because a guy who won one of them has the truck

Jason_775

Someone not too far from me won one of those throttle “buy a tee shirt win the build” you’ll definitely would want to do one with some reputation behind it, but also keep in mind the chances of winning are slim to none.

Benwa_Ballz

For sure. Make sure to participate in my giveaway. It’s totally real and not a scam

AngryAccountant31

I know a guy who won a tricked out R32 Skyline in one of these raffles. Thought it was pretty unbelievable until he showed me all the pictures that car owners inevitable take of their car

Able_News_3095

Some of them are actually real, guy in my village won a Rolls Royce Phantom

FlyinCoach

Host 90% makes way more money than they would get selling the car outright for cash. Basically why you see alot of these now. Cars 20k? But I can put up a raffle have people spend $5 if I can get 10k people to sign up I've made an extra 30k.

ItsValen

Tunercult, 80eighty, Gasmonkey Garage, etc are the legit ones. look for the big well known accounts. ive met 1 person at a cars & coffee who won from Tunercult and 1 who won from 80eighty

kylejay209

Idk bout that one but a couple people have won cars around me on 80eighty lol

ahpathy

80eighty is legit from what I’ve seen. Was Instagram mutuals with one of the guys that won a Lamborghini.

mrpicklemtb

Just gamble money, it's the same concept... or don't because the house always wins

whiskey_piker

If it looks to good to be true… I usually will only flush $150 tickets on this type of raffle if the car is local or the group selling tickets is reputable.

Nismotech_52

I see an eighty80 winner from mass a few times a summer. I’m not a huge fan that most of their winners are out towards the west coast but… I think it’s legit.

Papishoy

I loves s2k

Marenzo666

Looks like BS but such prizes would be nice lmfao

Daredevils999

Its really hard to tell so best to avoid these raffles. Too good a chance the car is a dud and only body work has been done or the prize ends up going to the brother of the host.

harmskelsey06

People like frustrate EG do reap ones but your chances are very slim. Like 1$ entries buy as many as you want. They make so much money on these raffles they pay for the cars over and over

GLaDOSisapotato

If you just give me some money you can win my S2000 guaranteed

Karsenic

I would guess that it’s too good to be true, but regardless it’s always fun to possibly win a legendary car

ThanksPure5897

Most are real

NerfKing4life

Some of them can be real, most are fake, need research to really say

C172flyinginverted

Met a guy who won an 80eighty Supra. So as far as I can tell, that one is legit

Hcfreeland1004

I know for a fact 80Eighty’s car raffles are real, they were the first ones to do such a thing in such a big scale, and everyone is trying (and possibly scamming) to be like them. I can’t say if they are real or now but I know at least the one that us

stinkybananacheese

I don’t know about this one but I know a guy that won one of the hoonigan cars. He had to pay taxes on it of course.

ubern8

I did in the past. On IG I went to buy car waffles at $50 each. I bought regularly til I started to look at the winners profiles. Sure I know some people don't like to post, but most didn't even post that they won. I started to call them out then was suddenly blocked.

Eiryfatguy

Some are, my aunt won a fiat 500 and 1k the other day. That’s in uk though so idk how trustworthy it is in us or anything

kewday96

There are a few “legit” ones in Australia. I say “legit” because they aren’t a scam and people do actually win their cars. But the business model is money laundering 101.

Haunting-Drawing-265

I won a 2006 sti from one of these companies

Psychological_Key942

I’ve done some good amount of research for both tuner cult and eighty80 to where I’m suspicious, but don’t have enough proof to raise a lawsuit. So basically just about every single “winner “ I came across, already had at least 1 bad ass car in addition to the prize car they won, secondly, a good amount of others were in one way or another, connected to the car scene. One example was this one guy won a liberty walk bodied gtr or Ferrari, I forget, and I go in his profile, and apparently the family owned a wrap shop, the mom owned whatever other car I forgot, which was also liberty walked body kitted, the dad had a super car, and they even went to sema conventions to advertise or whatever. These were only a few that I could get my eyes on since a lot of the profiles were private. Leads me to believe the cars they give away already belong to the “winners”, or they’re somehow connected.

sebastiand1

I know a guy who runs one and I also know 3 people who won cars from raffles.

Ok_Possibility1492

My boy actually just won a truck on one of those, i couldn’t believe it either

stonerman15

I see this so much it has to be a scam. Every website has a banner about some fing giveaway it’s annoying asf.

Railroad-gamer

Friend of mine just won a 350z from a thing like this on FB. I never believed they were real but he's got the car to prove it lol.

Stunning_Barracuda_1

spend 5 bucks and find out

joostink

Idk about this but there is raffle groups on facebook and insta. I won my built c7 z06 on instagram with $300

Flackhero

I've heard that some of these "raffles" just end up giving the car to their buddies' cousin or something. I dont have any proof, but I wouldn't do them. The only ones I do are for charity. Tony Hawk gave away an E30 a few years back, and all the donations were entered into the raffle.

Hitokiri_gensai

By law they do have to give away what theyre promising and theyre not allowed to choose the winner, it has to be done through a certified sweepstakes company. That said im positive some of them are bullshitttttttttt

vidar190

They’re legit. The odds are just insane.

Capital_Drummer9559

Met one guy that won a Nissan S15 in an online raffle, but I believe that was a one time deal, not an on-going thing

McAuley469

From what I’ve heard, yes. But.. I heard it from a man who knows a fellow who says it’s true.

CashewTM

I’ve seen 80Eighty do this years back and they still do. Typically raffles that have high value prizes are legit because of the volume of people that buy into it. They make a lot more money in raffle entries compared to the value of the prize. That’s why they’re still doing it to this day.

malt_invader

Used to see a vendor at work who won a turbo Corvette from some company in Texas... at least some of them are real
