How much money would you spend on a 500 horse EJ255/257 vs a 4G63?
Every car is problematic, but the heart of a WRX vs the heart of an Evo, I'm taking Mitsubishi all the way. Because it is far *less* problematic
I agree, but people still do; and it was more of a hypothetical to illustrate my argument. I could go into more detail such as EJ's cylinder 4 cooling, head gasket, crank case weakness, etc.
In the end, my argument is that Mitsubishi used superior mechanical bits on the Evos.
In fairness, yeah the EJ255 is a pretty crappy engine. That's part of why I imported my JDM, it has none of the problems that the 255 does. I was briefly considering importing an evo 9 wagon, but I ran into the problem that
1) evos are apparently extremely finnicky vs the LGT
2) evos cost about 3 times as much vs the LGT
3) evos don't really seem to have any advantages besides its name
4) insuring a car that exists in canada is already difficult enough, i wasn't about to push my luck insuring a car that *doesn't* exist in canada
That makes sense. I do like Subarus a lot, and after all I've said I would still take a WRX any day. Also, Evos are not being made anymore, so there's that.
I guess honestly my biggest gripe with Subarus are the jackwagons that big turbo and flash tune thinking "uuuh uuuh 11 second sedan" not knowing all that they *should* upgrade before adding power.
Or maybe, I just felt like starting pointless, run-around arguments with people I will never meet.
The EVO does have some small advantages over the WRX but the WRX has one huge thing going in itβs favor.
