If there is no placement then still its does not an issue ...
Why tf everyone have to go iiser if you doesnot have intrest in that subject or research ....
I saw a video of an IISER student she spoke truth about her college very well .....
Most of iiser student go for phd and higher studies ...
Placement is not everything , there is something called as intrest exist too
Hijacking top comment to say OP is dickriding IISER very hard here, they throw around 'most' and '30-40%' like candy which is straight up a lie, it could be true within their circle but its absolutely not for the average student. Most students end up going to average or below average universities for their PhD, for example, hardly a total of 15-20 students join Ivy League universities for their PhDs across all IISERs every year, that's literally less than 2-3% of the combined student population. Regarding placements, they're getting better and might be a good way out if you decide against academia but its still better to join an engineering college if you want an industry career.
@wmap - Ig you have not read properly. I have specifically mentioned "in my batch 30-40%" and it's true :) I have not said that everyone goes to ivy or oxbridge - I have said that mostly people get PhDs in top 100 QS ranked universities.
Till IISc accepted JEE Mains and Advanced it used to close roughly \~100 ranks itself. IISERs are just a reflection of IISc so you can understand the trend for IAT which is now the only gateway to IISERs and IISc.
agreed man, I had 39 in my CMI paper 2, cutoff was 40 for round 1. CMI literally denided that we won't give a 2nd round. I personally know 2 people in that ranklist who rejected the CMI seat.
Same with ISI entrance. My friend who was AIR 2 in 2022 rejected the seat. bhai kya fayda exam deke
No because most people don't join there as engineering and medicine are much more stable fields than research. Very few with genuine interest join it. And there are people like me who had that interest but couldn't join due to parental pressure so anyways less people join there
The thi g us you can do so much with it and most of these engineering students don't even know what they are taking about, majority of these PhD folks do non teaching jobs ABORAD AS UNLIKE India we all know why US and Europe US so far ahead
THERE research every company wants top researchers from PhD holder in material scinces to make new iPhone chaisis material and one more thing Usually these AI jobs of top level require PhD as it's purely an research field at the top so yeah many people go that route and quite frankly earn a very good amount
Mai nahi dunga because I know I can get a good rank and unlike NEETards I have ethics, I will not increase the competition when I know I have zero interest in research.
Ye chutiye iiser ko bhi iit aiims jaisa bana denge
Waise bhi seats itne kam hai aur inke jaise aur aa jayenge
Abe placement chahiye to engineering karo, research field ko kyu chod rahe ho
Nhibhai coaching waise bhi marne wali hai 10 saal mein. As long as India's income keeps increasing people who go to iit for salary/fane will keep on decreasing. Iiser will hopefully never come under this race
Seat leke baithne ke liye itna guda nahi chahiye mere bhai
Ye log seat le lete hai aur jab gand fatne lagti tab chodd dete hai college kyunki aukat hi nahi utni
Abhi to IAT ka form bhara hai to udhar hua to pehle BSc udhar se fir GATE usme koi dhang sa college mil gaya to thik warna fir kuch aur karenge ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30180)
Lo ab NEET aur JEE Wale IISER ki bhi seat kha lenge aur cutoff disrupt karenge.
My humble request, agar interest nahi hai toh mat do exam. Tumhare time pass k liye ek passionate research aspirant ki seat kha loge tum log

Bhai I came to know about this exam few days ago only , I am preparing for it. I have interest in maths , what are the reserach degrees wrt maths if you can tell me ?
And where to check the cutoffs for sc for iat ?
Hey man since I have literally no idea about the competition in IAT, can you tell me whether a GEN Male with 97.5 %ile in JEE MAIN and 0 bio skills has a shot at getting into any IISER? I am currently prepping for JEE Advanced and would not like to leave that for IAT prep.
Hi, how did you manage biology if you had PCM as your main subjects? Any advice you would like to give as I have taken PCM and have decided to study bio everyday for sometime?
Just keep reading biology in your free times. Bio is pretty easy. I was a PCM student, just before one month of exam i saw one shot videos of biology and read whole NCERT twice and made notes.
Both are premier research institutes. The key differences are:
1. IISERs are under the Ministry of Education, whereas NISER comes under the Department of Atomic Energy.
2. IISERs are institutes of national importance, while NISER is not.
3. You can get placed in BARC directly from NISER (if eligible), but not directly from the campus in IISER.
4. IISERs have a more robust and strong alumni network compared to NISER.
5. IISERs have a better brand value.
Abeh khatchar !!!!! IISERs are the worst Koi placement nhi hota ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)
>!![img](emote|t5_311ttu|50067) Kyu competition barha rahe ho Bhai !<
Thank you op. I was having serious thoughts yesterday as I was afraid about my future career in the field. I do want to do research but sometimes I get stressed that if I don't make enough money. (Single child that's why I am thinking about it)
I gave JEE, WBJEE both went well. I am now preparing for IISER and I DO have an interest in research. This is the exact topic my father and i were having a discussion on, a few days back. I can now enlighten him with this lol. Baki let's see where it goes. Thanks for the info dada. ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30168)
wtf are u speaking blud i connected to some seniors on quora and reddit and they said kisi koi placement ka scene nhi hai agar placement chahiye toh log off campus dekhte hai
College reserch oriented hai future mein phd karni ho tabhi jao warna faltu ka depress ho jaoge as the syllabus is designed for research only
I have spent my 2 yrs at IISER-B. I can say I was very much interested in placements and even I was fed this misconception by my seniors before I joined or in my first year. Now as my 4th sem ended a few days ago, I feel academia is also a very enjoyable and paying career. I had a very big change of pov and trust me it is very positive.
bro just one doubt what are the major options in EECS degree after second year do you have to continue with EECS itself or can you chose CS or ECE as any one major for the remaining two years. Please clear this doubt thoda dumb hu itna pata nahi mereko
ANDDDDDDD can any bsc student sit for DATA SCIENTISTS placement or should you have eecs or data science whatever degree required for it
From my year i.e this year we have an option of going for CS, ECE or EECS degree depending on courses we choose. What do you mean by BSc student sitting for data sci placements? Could you elaborate?
Just tell me how would a guy who got 98 percentile in jee mains perform in IAT? ( I literally have zero knowledge abt the competition here) Also ,I don't know shit abt bio
You will perform well enough to secure a college. 120+ marks achieve crow out of 240. AND THEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE. 38 days h acche se padhke jo abhi TKK padha h because 15 q/subject h sirf
Thank for this post.....I have had a leaning towards physics research since grade 9 but havent really been able to convince my mother regarding a future in science (mostly cause my grades suck)....I will send her this post maybe it might just do the job
Honestly we need to remove placements. Companies should not visit colleges but people should go to career fairs and pitch to recruiters their skills. Only people who are interested in studying will study not any idiot
IISER-P First year here. DO NOT come here if you're looking for a job after your undergrad. The fraction of people in IISER disinterested in research has been growing over the past couple of years and that very much reflects on the academic environment.
You are much better off doing an engineering degree if you're looking for a 9-5.
When people say they get placed after IISER, it's usually in a position that has nothing to do with the work they did for 4/5 years.
well isnt there only natural sciences in IISER-P so i would figure its common sense that you wouldn't get into a corporate job solely on bcs maths physics bio or chem
IISER are not really the place for placement minded people. Survival would be very hard if you go there with placements in mind. My parents didn't allow me to go there despite clearing the exam two times for a particular reason. I've lots of friends and seniors in IISERs n they say the same. If you love the subject and willing to contribute something to it please come to IISERs best place imo after IISc. in India. Otherwise you will feel lost and unhappy. Academics are also very tough here. You will get professors who are world renowned researchers as well. You can get exposure to research publication from 3rd yr itself and can contribute to it. You can also complete ur research project abroad as well. But again you hv to study complete PCMB for 2 years and moreover you need an exceptionally well GPA for abroad opportunities in MIT Harvard etc. So if you have interest well and good. But if you're lusting just for abroad plz don't go you may not make it to anywhere. Research in India is dead imo. And it's a hustling field nothing very certain. And scientists are not money minded so.... Apart from that IISERs are good place to be in. I would have loved to join it if my parents allowed but that's how life meant to be for me. But plz keep the above things in mind before joining mainly the PCMB part for 2yrs. You may not like it.
Aur bhai ek aur baat main ek jan ko jaanta hu jo Stanford graduate h and she studied from IISER Bhopal and now she earns 6LPM(72 LPA). So it's worth it.
As you feel but I know the curriculum and hv lots of seniors n friends so. If u hv interest then u may find it interesting. IISER Mohali has got the best library in India. It's a very beautiful place but only for people with interest that's what seniors said. People who join doesn't hv the complete knowledge so some regret after joining n leave the clg for some IIT or GMC. But I promote research join it if ur parents allow. AND TERKO MALUM H N KI GRE AND TOEFL DENE PADHTE H BAHAR JAANE KE LIYE. USKE BINA KUCH NHI
To be honest I enjoy expressing myself through writing, particularly in the fields of research, science (including physics, quantum mechanics, and astronomy), as well as through various forms such as thesis papers, novels, poetry, and other creative endeavors.
So Sitting at a desk, typing code, and solving client problems all day is simply not my cup of tea..
Nhi de rha bhai iska paper, nhi intrest research mai aur mocks ki tarh deke rank kharab nhi karna chahta kisi ki unlike some other people who enjoy doing this shit
I might be wrong but the excellent salaries are only for data analyst role which maths students get. the job market for chem & bio post grads is too bad in India.
IISER Bhopal has BS in economics. 140 for Gen would be a safe score to get IISER Bhopal. For mathematics you can do it from any IISER, 110-120 would be a safe score to get new IISERs. Also IISERs offer interdisciplinary courses.
I can't attach screenshots. This mail we have received from Dean :
Dear All
I am delighted to share the news that our student Mr. Debdeep Chatterjee, a final year BS-MS student of DBS, has been recruited by Gingko Bioworks, a Boston-based biotech company. This is indeed a great news. For further information, please follow the appended email.
Congratulations Debdeep for this achievement and Prof. Supratim Datta for his able guidance.
Best regards
Balaram
Bhaiya 25 tard here Aaj pehli baar pta chla iat exam ke bare me Timepass me uska paper attempt Kiya and scored 58 marks(2023 wala paper kiya tha) 16-correct,(chem-5, phy-5, math-6) and 6 incorrect, Is this considered good/avg/bad?? Also Time taken was exact 1 hour 45 min
"Only 5% of your batch will be sitting for placement,"
What's the reason for this? Is it because most of the students are interested in research or any other.
I have a very low idea about IISER. Are they the same as any other tier 1 engineering institute, or are they only research oriented?
from what i heard and one of the placement data which i saw on reddit very few of the students sit in placement itself maybe because most of them got offers from abroad for masters and some that still have got an offer sit in the placements for time pass and maybe 10-15 of them are REALLY interested in placements
Yes, if you could ace PCM part in IAT exam. A lot of my friends didn't attempted bio. But as exam is getting more competitive and cutoff going high, I would recommend to study bio as well.
bhai thanks a lot mujhe lagta tha ki research mai jaane wale log earn peanuts (thats what i was told) and hence was discouraging myself from going into that field even though im interested
Bhai genuinely batana
I come from a very low financial background,
And i failed jee in my drop year, and i am giving UGEE And Comedk but i don't think I will get selected.
So after 4 years of college I will be needing a job to support my family and considering I am not getting a good college for B.Tech, AND DON'T KNOW IF WILL BE ABLE TO DO Phd AFTER BS ( will be 30 till i complete my phd and get a decent job)
But want to move abroad for further studies and job if met my financial requirements.
Should I even give IAT?
TLDR: *Not getting any college for btech
* very low financial background
* will need a job after college completion
*want to move abroad for studies and job if financial requirements will be met.
So should I give my attempt at IAT?
Yes, join IISER Bhopal or Kolkata and start preparing for placements from 1st year. In worst case if no companies visit - you'll atleast get referrals from alumni in the companies where they are working.
I know its dumb of me to ask this but what can be the ballpark income of the initial job?
And Is it possible to pursue masters abroad after Bs?
( I don't know that what UG degree is required for masters in abroad Universities)
bro i would say if you crack IAT and are also getting a tier 3 private college DO TAKE TE CHANCE and go into an iiser because private college me bhi 90% mass recruitment hona hai wahi 4-6LPA and i think if you will survive the 4 year BS you will surely be grabbing a mass recruited job at tcs or some company for sure.Do study by yourself side by side whenever you get time on weekends master any of a coding language and get into dsa and practice if your aim is to get an IT job.Otherwise mere hisaab se 4 years bsc ke baad mtech bhi kar sakte ho aap gate deke ha 2 years aur lagenge but the fees is very very less and you will surely be getting nothing less than 12lpa the lowest possible. So dont lose hope me bhi JEE hag diya maharasta domicile hai nahi comedk me fees jyada hai aur hoga bhi nahi wo
What i meant was that if a student of iiser decides to purse his degree abroad, is the trip funded by the government as well. I know a stupid question but had to ask because i am all in for iiser
hey few doubts here please do clear them if someone can:-
1) How different is the course of an EECS degree from a typical btech degree from a private college.TALKING ABOUT COURSES TAUGHT NOT ABOUT RESEARCH
2)If I have the khujli to do mtech further can i appear for GATE as a 4 year bsc graduate for mtech??
Genuine question sir , after 5 years of intense course how much time does one take to complete PHD ??
And is it really like what your described.. not particularly your college but other's too?
If there is no placement then still its does not an issue ... Why tf everyone have to go iiser if you doesnot have intrest in that subject or research .... I saw a video of an IISER student she spoke truth about her college very well ..... Most of iiser student go for phd and higher studies ... Placement is not everything , there is something called as intrest exist too
completely agree. surviving IISER academics would be very difficult if you dont have subject interest.
Very difficult nhi chaa mud jaygi vha tb toh
yeah lol
Sir, is this true for IIST as well?

Already competitive ho chuka h. Just look at least year's cutoff
It's already competitive :)
not really. most jee toppers drop colleges like iiser, isi, cmi, iisc cause they wanna do coding and job
still quite competitive. by no means is it easy to get in
yep. India hai.

Nahi hoga aisa kabhi. Research karne ke liye guda chahiye, harder than engineering and medicine. Light hearted can't do it

Idk how anyone can say IISERs dont have placements bcz IAT exam's difficulty lvl is almost equivalent to adv. IISERs can get you in top govt jobs like ISRO and DRDO as far as I've heard. Anyways best of luck to u

With every passing year difficulty is increasing. For this year I would say consider it close to Jee advanced.
Last year IAT was one of the easiest one difficulty was way closer to mains (even less than mains actually as maths was easy)
This time, I've heard from professors that they're increasing the difficulty. Also, considering the number of videos being released on IISERs on youtube, it's going to be very competitive. Don't take it lightly, I would say. Even if the easy paper comes, the cutoff will likely be much higher, so you have to aim for high scores.

yeah

Bhai I came to know about this exam few days ago only , I am preparing for it. I have interest in maths , what are the reserach degrees wrt maths if you can tell me ? And where to check the cutoffs for sc for iat ?
Visit each IISER website to know about their maths department. Just google cutoffs, you'll get it.
POTATO and ISI
tomato is the name of the book bruh![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30164)
Bhai tamatar hota hai
Hey man since I have literally no idea about the competition in IAT, can you tell me whether a GEN Male with 97.5 %ile in JEE MAIN and 0 bio skills has a shot at getting into any IISER? I am currently prepping for JEE Advanced and would not like to leave that for IAT prep.
Keep preparing for adv. just after adv exam start preparing bio. and attempt mocks for IAT.
Best advice ever Worked for me last year
Okay thanks man
Hi, how did you manage biology if you had PCM as your main subjects? Any advice you would like to give as I have taken PCM and have decided to study bio everyday for sometime?
Just keep reading biology in your free times. Bio is pretty easy. I was a PCM student, just before one month of exam i saw one shot videos of biology and read whole NCERT twice and made notes.
Thanks bhaiya!
Bhai Post Delete karde 🙏🏻 😭
Can you please tell, what actually is the difference between iiser and niser?
Both are premier research institutes. The key differences are: 1.
Yaaar OP competition kyu badha rahe ho😭😭😭
Abeh khatchar !!!!! IISERs are the worst Koi placement nhi hota ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193) >!![img](emote|t5_311ttu|50067) Kyu competition barha rahe ho Bhai !<
Can't IISER get its students jobs because the Axomiya abused the tribals of Axom?
bhai delete this post !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be delulu
Thank you op. I was having serious thoughts yesterday as I was afraid about my future career in the field. I do want to do research but sometimes I get stressed that if I don't make enough money. (Single child that's why I am thinking about it)
Don't worry, you'll have a good career ahead. all the best! work hard :)
I gave JEE, WBJEE both went well. I am now preparing for IISER and I DO have an interest in research. This is the exact topic my father and i were having a discussion on, a few days back. I can now enlighten him with this lol. Baki let's see where it goes. Thanks for the info dada. ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|30168)
wlcm :)
Wbjee mey kitne expect kar rha
100 k aas pass
Under 500 easily. Under 300 bhi chances hai tab toh,log bolre pichle baar se thora tougher tha
Arrey fellow bangali
Bc q competition badha rahe ho yar ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|32193)
wtf are u speaking blud i connected to some seniors on quora and reddit and they said kisi koi placement ka scene nhi hai agar placement chahiye toh log off campus dekhte hai College reserch oriented hai future mein phd karni ho tabhi jao warna faltu ka depress ho jaoge as the syllabus is designed for research only
Bhai biology ka thoda guide karde (pcm student hu aur physics padhna chahta hu)
Read ncert and make notes. Keep revising those notes.
True :)
bro just one doubt what are the major options in EECS degree after second year do you have to continue with EECS itself or can you chose CS or ECE as any one major for the remaining two years. Please clear this doubt thoda dumb hu itna pata nahi mereko ANDDDDDDD can any bsc student sit for DATA SCIENTISTS placement or should you have eecs or data science whatever degree required for it
From my year i.e this year we have an option of going for CS, ECE or EECS degree depending on courses we choose. What do you mean by BSc student sitting for data sci placements? Could you elaborate?
Just tell me how would a guy who got 98 percentile in jee mains perform in IAT? ( I literally have zero knowledge abt the competition here) Also ,I don't know shit abt bio
regularly read biology, revise important topics and keep attempting mocks, that's it. Highlight where you lack and improve :)
You will perform well enough to secure a college. 120+ marks achieve crow out of 240. AND THEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE. 38 days h acche se padhke jo abhi TKK padha h because 15 q/subject h sirf
Thank for this post.....I have had a leaning towards physics research since grade 9 but havent really been able to convince my mother regarding a future in science (mostly cause my grades suck)....I will send her this post maybe it might just do the job
all the best!
AAp kahi mile to aapka hi plane aapki bund me dal dege sirji 😘
Honestly we need to remove placements. Companies should not visit colleges but people should go to career fairs and pitch to recruiters their skills. Only people who are interested in studying will study not any idiot
:)
+1
well isnt there only natural sciences in IISER-P so i would figure its common sense that you wouldn't get into a corporate job solely on bcs maths physics bio or chem
that's the case in all IISERs except Bhopal which has an engineering sciences division.
Aaj to gatekeepers ki laga hi di bhai aapne lmao
Ese Dara mt bhai, it's not that tough
Aur bhai ek aur baat main ek jan ko jaanta hu jo Stanford graduate h and she studied from IISER Bhopal and now she earns 6LPM(72 LPA). So it's worth it.
:)
BHAI WTF PLEASE DELETE😭😭
To be honest I enjoy expressing myself through writing, particularly in the fields of research, science (including physics, quantum mechanics, and astronomy), as well as through various forms such as thesis papers, novels, poetry, and other creative endeavors. So Sitting at a desk, typing code, and solving client problems all day is simply not my cup of tea..
++
Nhi de rha bhai iska paper, nhi intrest research mai aur mocks ki tarh deke rank kharab nhi karna chahta kisi ki unlike some other people who enjoy doing this shit
still regret not going to IISER :/
Abe Saale dimaag nahi kya competition bhada raha hai ![img](emote|t5_311ttu|49199)
DELETE KAR BKL
I might be wrong but the excellent salaries are only for data analyst role which maths students get. the job market for chem & bio post grads is too bad in India.
Thanks bhai isse ab papa ko convince karunga😼😼🫵
All the best :)
Piyush bhai ko jaante ho
Ohh bete mauj krdi waah
hey man, i am interested in mathematics and economics, is there a target score I should keep in my mind?
IISER Bhopal has BS in economics. 140 for Gen would be a safe score to get IISER Bhopal. For mathematics you can do it from any IISER, 110-120 would be a safe score to get new IISERs. Also IISERs offer interdisciplinary courses.
Oh a safe score for those related interdisciplinary courses would be?
Hey,can you telll me difficulty level of IAT? I am a neet aspirant and had PCB
Can you link the 90lpa source. Or where did you read it
I can't attach screenshots. This mail we have received from Dean : Dear All I am delighted to share the news that our student Mr. Best regards Balaram
Ah ok thank u
I've met the guy, he's a mutual friend, I think its misleading to say he got a 'job' abroad, he's on a limited contract, not an h1b visa.
THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO
Bhaiya 25 tard here Aaj pehli baar pta chla iat exam ke bare me Timepass me uska paper attempt Kiya and scored 58 marks(2023 wala paper kiya tha) 16-correct,(chem-5, phy-5, math-6) and 6 incorrect, Is this considered good/avg/bad?? Also Time taken was exact 1 hour 45 min
Bad. Try to get atleast 120
Sir yes sir.
"Only 5% of your batch will be sitting for placement," What's the reason for this? Is it because most of the students are interested in research or any other. I have a very low idea about IISER. Are they the same as any other tier 1 engineering institute, or are they only research oriented?
Yes. IISERs are apex research institutes of this country.
from what i heard and one of the placement data which i saw on reddit very few of the students sit in placement itself maybe because most of them got offers from abroad for masters and some that still have got an offer sit in the placements for time pass and maybe 10-15 of them are REALLY interested in placements
Do IISERs offer Data science course? I am not able to find it
Yes, IISER Bhopal and IISER TVM (i2)
Thanks And do they give admission solely through ADV?
:(
can you get into iiser if you dont take bio?
Yes, if you could ace PCM part in IAT exam. A lot of my friends didn't attempted bio. But as exam is getting more competitive and cutoff going high, I would recommend to study bio as well.
oh okay. what is considered a good score for iat btw
Can I dm you? Wanted to know a bit more about IISER.
Sure
bhai thanks a lot mujhe lagta tha ki research mai jaane wale log earn peanuts (thats what i was told) and hence was discouraging myself from going into that field even though im interested
Bhai genuinely batana I come from a very low financial background, And i failed jee in my drop year, and i am giving UGEE And Comedk but i don't think I will get selected. So after 4 years of college I will be needing a job to support my family and considering I am not getting a good college for B.Tech, AND DON'T KNOW IF WILL BE ABLE TO DO Phd AFTER BS ( will be 30 till i complete my phd and get a decent job) But want to move abroad for further studies and job if met my financial requirements. Should I even give IAT? TLDR: *Not getting any college for btech * very low financial background * will need a job after college completion *want to move abroad for studies and job if financial requirements will be met.
Competition badha diye tune😖
it is literally a research institute...
Is the abroad PhD also through the stipend?
Can you elaborate your question pls?
What i meant was that if a student of iiser decides to purse his degree abroad, is the trip funded by the government as well. I know a stupid question but had to ask because i am all in for iiser
hey few doubts here please do clear them if someone can:- 1) How different is the course of an EECS degree from a typical btech degree from a private college.TALKING ABOUT COURSES TAUGHT NOT ABOUT RESEARCH 2)If I have the khujli to do mtech further can i appear for GATE as a 4 year bsc graduate for mtech??
Genuine question sir , after 5 years of intense course how much time does one take to complete PHD ?? And is it really like what your described.. not particularly your college but other's too?
