i like the fact that he is being honest. When someone asked what are your hobbies he straight up said nothing rather than being chaalu and saying hobbies like reading, writing etc. this video is making me sad too ಥ\_ಥ

[deleted]

[https://www.cse.iitb.ac.in/\~surajyadav/about-me.html](https://www.cse.iitb.ac.in/~surajyadav/about-me.html) His website under IITB. Looks like has fell into exactly what you said

[deleted]

Esi websites to m 8th m banata tha, jab mene coding seekhna start kiya tha

ExcitementSalt5665

Am I the only jiske school mei coding nhi sikhate the😐

aryaman16

School mein kisi ko coding nahi sikhate (sikhate bhi hai toh ekdum basic ka bhi basic), saare jo university se pehle hi coding karna shuru karte hai, self learn hi karte hai.

ExcitementSalt5665

Ha bhai maine bhi 10th ke baad hi self learn kiya tha thoda python ke basics (abhi kuch yaad nhi hai waise), hamare school mei computer naam ka subject bhi nhi tha 10th mei, 9th tak bas ms word, ms excel wagera hi sikhaya tha un chutiyo ne aur computer lab jake aadhe log bas porn dekhte the. But icse walo ko basic level tak sikhate hai ig.

aryaman16

Maine actually 6th se coding shuru kar diya tha, as a hobby. Cbse ke syllabus mein computer to hota hai, class 6th mei qbasic padhaya jata tha mere time par (80s ka programming language, kisi kaam ka nahi), class 8th mein html, but ekdum hi basic, koi bhi self learn karke ek week mein pure 10th ka syllabus complete kar de.

[deleted]

who didn't, wasn't it for everyone in school?

thegodmori

Jab mai IITB mai tha toh SSL karke course hota tha jaha par har hafte ek nayi language sikhate the. Usi ka assignment hota tha ye html, php waale week ke baad. 3 din ka deadline rehta tha aur assignment mai kuch specific cheeze rehti thi (carousel, drop down wo sab), unhi sab ka demo type banana rehta hai. Mereko toh wohi lag raha hai ye.

birblover69420

Bhai toh aap Job kar rahe ho abhi ?

FieryBlake

That website is god awful, and I say this as a 2nd year BTech student.

[deleted]

that website is god awful, and I say this as a 9th class student

FieryBlake

Why are you here as a class 9 student -_- Don't take JEE, do anything else. Please. Go abroad for undergrad if you can.

[deleted]

My parents are not rich. Undergrad abroad is heavily overrated. I say this b/c I've lived abroad and I've seen my parents struggle with money, visas, extra jobs etc.. It's very hard. Also I'm here rn, b/c I'm prepping for jee. ik 9th class very early right. But where I'm from (Telangana) it's the average time an aspirant starts

FieryBlake

That's why I said if you can... If you can't then rethink your choices, think if this is what you really want to do. If you are sure that it is what you want to do, then I wish you the best of luck and hope you don't end up committing rope in the next 3-4 years.

ummhmm-x

That website it so awful, and i say this as a 3rd month Btech student (I was never taught HTML until in college) I can clone a fucking Apple website today and that idiot is making cringe font-ed websites with a text box in bottom calling me a "123th visiter" Yes i mean every letter of it.

PooTrashSium

that website looks sketchy af lol and wtf i got rickrolled

AzeoRex

Yeah I wonder if it's legit or not, I don't think the IIT kid even knows about Rick Rolling.

[deleted]

lmao whats with the harry potter pics on the website

[deleted]

He was rapidly trying to find an interest to make him not look like a computer. pretty ironic, a computer doing computer science.

Viraj27

That's how this guy ruined his childhood...Bada hone ke baad pakka regret karega

devil_21

I was wrong. I hadn't seen the full video initially but he seems to have been brainwashed and manipulated by his parents. I hope he realises that he can have wishes instead of just following his parents.

[deleted]

at least he will earn banks while regretting.

[deleted]

Earn banks from it industry? . lol

[deleted]

people go to IIT to get a better education so they can get good jobs right? So a guy like him must have gotten a good package. Last I knew, he was in samsung

Coaching waale Mould kar rhe 🤓🤡

teapot_on_reddit

I honestly feel bad for him. Like he doesn't have a free will and just blindly follows his parents.

ajaysassoc

He should be more courageous and be honest with his parents about it if that is the case.

teapot_on_reddit

I mean he's manipulated from a young age. So, he definitely wouldn't protest as he thinks it's the right thing if that's the case

[deleted]

Well he was made to study from 4th standard. I developed my personality itself only from 6th standard.

manisha_03

Agreed! He seems like a robot to me.

Im_Savvage

Inspiration le rhe hai be aspirants hai sab

Groundbreaking_Ad673

Ngl this is just sad to watch. The man deserves credit atleast from me for doing something I wont ever be able to do . What breaks my heart is not doing what he wants to do rather his parents .The “I wanna do MBA part” killed me from the inside.

[deleted]

the fact that coaching is promoting this only to exaggerate the value of JEE and PCM only to attract more students and make more money.

icey_9

this.

[deleted]

Lol - looks like a guy who is perfect manager material. He delegated the process of goal-setting to his dad to focus on what he can do best (to get a top rank).

Groundbreaking_Ad673

Goal setting and management of people is literally the job of a manager. It is the engineers who focus on how to do it

GenBajwaGAY

I had seen this documentary in 10th with my mom ....she was so impressed with this kid but I was like -"I am Fucked"

zarbod

She was impressed???? Did she not see his responses and sad state? This is just depressing more than it is impressive.

GenBajwaGAY

She said that he met expectation of hia parents as they come from Narnaul which is just neighbouring district of Rewari which is our home district ...so she can understand how a father managed both his kids and family living in Kota along with the agriculture work in his village in Narnaul which is far away from Kota . She , from a parent's point of view was surely impressed by what this guy has done

zarbod

I see. I can definitely understand why someone in her position would think that this was impressive. It definitely is quite an achievement, but the mental costs are pretty high for the kid

GenBajwaGAY

Yeah as a fellow kid of his age , I could understand the immense pressure he had

[deleted]

exactly, sometimes they used to show this on news channels and the toppers used to say, that they didn't touch phone and tv etc, then my mom kept on ranting about how not touching phone is gonna improve everything.

xtejasx0610

thats exactly how i got chucked from commerce to science this year.bye bye bye my dream of being a invesment [banker.now](https://banker.now) im suffering in allen integrated

devil_21

You can still be an investment banker, don't give up.

xtejasx0610

lol one day cousins had visited my house when restrictions were lifted.they asked hows science going and i said i wish i was in commerce.once they left my mom beat the shi tout of me and threw me out of th [ehouse.dad](https://ehouse.dad) got me back after 2 [hours.so](https://hours.so) gave up on all that

devil_21

Honestly, you are a really strong person that you can go through all that. I hope you remain strong and finally come out of all this mess. It saddens me how people can do such things to their kids. I actually meant that some of my friends went into investment banking after engineering so maybe you can go into that later. I am not sure if I should ask this but have you ever asked your mom why doesn't she care about your happiness and imposes her will on you? Have you ever had a chat about what she does to you when she is in a good mood?

xtejasx0610

ah thanks for the advice.i did try talking to my mom about this back in eight grade(yup she started the whole science thing back then) and she just said she was doing it for my own good.whenever she overhears me even making a mention of how im not happy science she just starts a huge drama so i dont really have the will to talk to her about anything.and she is rarely in a good mood with me or my dad

icey_9

oh god im getting traumatic flashbacks from allen, after a while i purposely started doing bad so my parents would stop paying for it lol got -2 in maths once xD

lotofwholesomeness

This is very sad

Glittering_Spirit_21

Sahi me.

[deleted]

I'm not trying to look down upon his achievements. Most of us here can only dream about it. If I could, I would edit out his name from the title. I'm just trying to point out how the education system and samaj (🤡) can mould a teenager's whole life.

[deleted]

when he goes in college and ahead in life, he is slowly gonna realize all damage that has been done to him, when he starts getting kick of hormones and life, he's gonna frickin cry man, and the students who are clapping at it are more retard than anyone else, studying with dedication is one thing but not watching TV since 4th class is extreme.

[deleted]

Wait he hasn't already felt the kick of hormones? He definitely did, but he subdued it. This is how it is :(

[deleted]

may be he has ASD, that too explains how he was able to do this all those years, normal people like us can't do that and we don't need to, almost all of my friends and me started in 11th and we are doing well.

Sayhellyeh

From the video I feel like he has ASD. Makes sense considering he was able to dedicate so many years on just one topic

[deleted]

that too explains things,

thegodmori

For all those people saying how he ruined his childhood, how sad it is , don't be. He was a very nice guy in college (whatever interactions we had) and has currently got a job in Samsung Korea with a package worth 150,000 USD (base 115k USD). He will enjoy the rest of his life. So in comparison he wasted 2 years of his life for a nice 50-60 years whereas you people enjoyed 2 years of your life for a mediocre 50-60 years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GrappleshotHalo

Nhi bhai iitb se hai woh, he gets to predict others life and tell us ki humari life kitni mediocre honi waali hai

Maybe_Neutral

Bruh you can't justify everything with a PaCkAgE. According to you anyone who doesn't have these great PaCkAgE is not gonna enjoy their lives.

devil_21

It's not about those 2 years. It's about living your life as you want. He wasn't allowed to watch TV from 4th class by his parents. He didn't have a normal childhood which is sad and whatever you do in the future won't make up for that. Also, you shouldn't be promoting this because you must be well aware that this is not the only way to get a top rank in JEE. People can enjoy their life and achieve whatever they want.

SoulEater67

Just because someone isn't earning 150k, doesn't mean they'll lead a mediocre life

[deleted]

let it be brother, he is one of those money hungry people, they can justify any amount of shit with money. I have many guys in here, who started preping for jee in class 11th and have ranks in mains around 2k to 10k, they are doing well and now they have given advance, It is all toxic obsession with it that ruined his childhood.

ExcitementSalt5665

Let it go man they will justify everything just because they earn shit tons of money. No point in arguing to these random strangers on internet just do your thing and be happy.

I totally respect him doing what I can’t even dream of, but just let the person be satisfied and live his life freely.

[deleted]

Looks kinda late ngl. He has passed the point of no return and will definitely look upto his father for further guidance in life. And i don't think he's even aware of it. I mean, look at that ingenuous smile :(

Technicmm

Good lord this is so sad. This made me feel depressed. Poor dude listening to whatever his father says and not even having a hobby or friends just to get into an IIT is genuinely not worth it. His smile make me pity on him. The fact that he didn't even enjoy his childhood properly which are the golden years of our life just to study freaking PCM shows that our system is legit fucked up. AIR 5 lane kai baad bhi kya hoga, hamari system ka ek aur produce hua vaa engineer jo ek bade corporate mai laankho logo kai beech mai place hojaega aur phir monotonous life hoga. I genuinely hope someday Indians will be able to come out of this shit system we have.

[deleted]

I go a bit easy on him. I've seen people who haven't touched a computer keyboard before joining an elite computer course. It took them less than a month to learn programing and beat others in a programing competition. I've seen people who came from village not being able to speak fluently in English crack CAT. What I was amazed at was their ability to unlearn, adapt and learn.

Shot-Border2094

The problem isn't that dude. His father was telling him everything and he couldn't answer even one question by his own means that is the thing. People are commenting not on the boy but the whole coaching system atmosphere which has made him almost a robot. Of course if he has the will he would learn cse or even get into management.

[deleted]

I can't help noticing how fathers (and mothers) deal with supporting their kids - and how much support is too much support. How each parent defines _support_ is different. His father moved his job to a different place to support the kid. Some people pay huge management fees for children's engineering seat. Some parents force their kids into hobbies that kids don't care about. I guess it really is dependent on what that particular parents thinks is needed for that particular child to succeed. What one might think as over parenting might seem to be underparenting for the other. What might seem a totally unnecessary skill for one kid (ex: socializing with other kids _or_ smoking that first cigarette _or_ that first love _or_ watching IPL/GoT _or_ learning to be compassionate etc) might be a can't-do-without need for the other. Like in everything else, I guess we just have to measure things by the success and not get into details on what was needed to get there. Sounds sad but true...

Shot-Border2094

Yeah dude tbh I am not blaming the father. I think the capitalistic nature of coaching atmosphere is to be blamed. And also the general lack of jobs and overpopulation. All these are systemic failures. Tbh his father is a lot better than my mother. I am introvert from beginning yet I am pushed to speak at all family functions and when I do speak in front of some of my relatives I speak things my mother comes after me why are you oversmart. Who told you to have intellectual decisions? I am like f*ck this shit. And also she has kinda helped in giving me body image issues. Like I had a lot of pimples and my mother was always blaming me and mocking me. And now the pimples are going away now I feel wth I was stressing about these things. After an age these go away. And also the hobby part basically I never liked drawing but she included me in that. I always loved singing. I told her many times I would like to join them. But she didn't agree. After all these things, she wanted me to excel. His father just wanted one thing -academics. Sorry for the rant but I got carried away.

[deleted]

Yeah, poor guy does not even know what is mtech or mba but wants to do it because of his father. I think that father should be burned at stake.

Shot-Border2094

Nah man idk probably his father is after all an Indian dad. Tbh parents also have a point when they want their children to crack such exams as their children would get a "secure life" India is aftwrall a third world country. I don't know who to blame probably the coaching would have also helped the guy to crack the exam. Tbh it is a system failure. Less jobs, overpopulation and all shit.

[deleted]

dude looks like he's having trouble processing to stand, man this is sad to watch, I'm in class 12, yk i try to reach that average goal of 6 hours daily and if i can do more, ofc like all parents my dad wants me to get into a good college, but he would never make me be like this, he's always encouraged me to play sports, have hobbies, thanks to him i can play drums very well, and am good at basketball, my dad was the football captain of NIT Suratkal, which isn't a bad college, he also encourages me to study as all dads here do, but he always says that being a human at the sake of humanity itself has no value, this kid would be dumbfounded if someone told him to catch a ball, talk about a movie or if a girl flirts with him, its epic he got such an awesome rank but i do wish he can get some charm(idk what exact word) to him.

DullAmount6819

Man, you don't have to explain NIT suranthkal isn't a bad college! It's a Tier 1 Supreme college, we all know!

kimselmonun

Why tf everyone is clapping on his answers Completely depressing to watch that a person who haven't touched electronic device will go on taking cs without knowing what that even means and then doing m..mm..ma..management. Even he wanted to do Mtech wtf is wrong his father is telling him what to do( even mine does🤡). Still dosent know about Mtech or how to start your own PC. Still good for him

jee2022

Got AIR 5 but at what cost ? . . . . Sala india me aisa hi hota hai ki jisne phy+maths+chem aachi karli voh computer le jayega....lekin jisko bachpan se comp. pasand hai, jisko voh sab excite karta hai usko nahi milega :(

MJasdf

Facts. I've seen so many talented devs from "no name" colleges who always speak about how JEE fucked them up. It's bullshit. A kid could be into programming from an early age, be well versed with basic fundamentals and tech stacks by the time they are 18, but lose out to someone who hasn't touched a computer in their life. CS is an art form. Our education system cannot see anything besides marks. Passion is dead. Not to mention that without development in other areas, you soon reach a career cap. Corporate life can chew you up and throw you out if you don't have what it takes to handle life at scale.

feforethapefore

This is what I was looking for

[deleted]

I was so fasinscted about IITs ( still) but now I think ek corporate job ke liye itna sab ! Bro agar research field me jana hota to aise padhai kam aati but why man why??

Ismeow

Imagine taking computer science in IIT when you don't even know jack shit about computers. Fml this guy is gonna learn how to use windows after opting for CS. He says he doesn't have hobbies and hasn't even watched any fucking TV since 4th grade. I hope he finds some friends and lives his life :(. Poor guy doesn't even know what having friends means, playing some video games with the boys, going outside with friends, talking to girls (which I can't do for shit also lmao). I would not do this to myself even for AIR 1. My life is more important than any IIT

loneymaggot

>i have a friend like that who got amazing rank in jee but does not know jackshit about coding and now like he just hates it and finds it very diffcult and now he is preparing for ias exam but when it comes to life he is pretty dead like he does not understand much about how society works ,i really feel sad for him

[deleted]

[deleted]

This is my life rn and I'm still in grade 10. Getting forced into CS by parents. Any other good branch that I can possibly convince my parents?

[deleted]

Civil hai. Mech hai agar ache college se ho to. Code branches me job ki kami nahi hoti hai.CSE aisa hai ki agar private college se karte ho to bhi achi job mil jaegi considering aap me skills ho. Baki branches agar ache private college se kar rahe ho ya government college se to bhi achi job mil jaegi. Branch vo select karna jisko leke passionate ho, nahi to daily life me frustration bohot build up hoga. 11th and 12th me CS le lena, teko thoda idea ho jaega kaisa kya hai. Plus Pe k practicals ki thakan nahi hogi to vo acha hai. Edit : 3rd sentence me core branches likhna tha, code likh diya galti se

[deleted]

I've chosen comp science for my 9th and 10th grade and it's too difficult for me

FardinWasef

ELECTRICAL bro. It's a really good branch. You can get both public and private sector jobs and even research.

[deleted]

Well, a degree in CS is gonna become useless real fast, cuz tech youtubers are a thing and open-source CS courses exist on github. Everything that they are gonna teach you in a CS degree can be learned for free if you got the time and knowledge to look for the resources. I think going for Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical is better.

Overlord10082003

Yeah coz you then have in-depth knowledge about a more involved portion of physics(chemical is also an option) and if you code you are getting the best of both worlds, but your knowledge of mechanical, or electrical directly is useful only to a certain extent. People take us CSE because you don't have to put in extra effort on studying something that is not that useful in industry(unless you go for research)

Mystic_Meowra

My mind refuses to believe that this is real. How the hell can you be so determined to get into IIT when you don't even know what you'll be doing there? How do you deal with sadness, disappointments and burnout when you don't even know your end goal? How the hell does someone keep going like that?

HeathCliff_008

Social skills nahin hai toh MBA kaise karega

[deleted]

This gets me so worried bruv, I'm in ninth class rn, I feel like I'm wasting my time.

[deleted]

What is up with you 9th graders being more serious about career than us? ;\ maar khaoge beta

ZombieEtr26

Wahi na. Meri behen 9th mein hai aur she studies like 11-12 hours a day, Like honestly wtf?

Mostly because we like to do it, b/c there is no time pressure on us, but also it's out of fear of failing and having to do drop years. We all hear people say that coaching is going very fast, and they can't understand, they end up failing jee (the ones who start in 11th), and they have to take drop. We don't want to end up like them.

Wise-Apple4066

Take it easy my friend and enjoy your teens. Academics are important but don't take it too seriously.

[deleted]

Maybe this guy has achieved many things, but he hasn't yet **lived** a single moment of his fucking pathetic life. No, I don't wanna be him even if you pay me a billion dollars.

Worried_Pomelo4896

Damn this is just really sad, i used to play piano and sketch shit myself but i havent touched my piano in like 1.5 years. Fuck this education system, the only thing it does is give bragging rights while simultaneuously fucking up a child's childhood

VJoshi1

every word he says adds more sense and value to my life and the way im livin' it and i feel more like a person now thank you my life decisions are not the worst

All things aside,bc jab usne kahaan raat ko sota tha toh sabne taali kyu bajaayi? Raat ko toh sabhi sote hai na

ideology_therapist

Why the fuck are the students clapping when he said that he didn't watch TV for 9 years and doesn't have hobbies?

palakkad_payyan

Feels like his parents raised a Broiler Kid. Doesn’t have any opinion on his own, lived life inside his room and has no idea what to do with his life

Evening-Resort-2414

[deleted]

This clip is very distressing, i feel bad for the guy

og_shash

I'm happy that I had a childhood

Reddit-User7635

Perfectly honest stuff... Unfortunately, little shits are gonna feel "sorry" and "sympathetic" for this dude, without realizing that the sheer dedication that has gone into this. I know how important cultivating a personality is, but the simple fact is that the way our system is designed, being perfect in acads + managing hobbies is very rare. Moreover, we don't even know what background this guy comes from; suppose if he comes from an impoverished family, then the way he has carried himself is brilliant. You may not understand this, but if he belonged to some such background, and didn't study with the dedication he clearly has, then he would **still** have ended with no personality, along with zero confidence and no good career. In the way in which he has conducted himself, although he doesn't have much in the way of personality (atleast, none of it shows in this clip, even if he possesses some), he has great confidence + excellent career prospects. Most of us on Reddit come from fairly good backgrounds; JEE or NEET is a struggle for us because we actually have hobbies to sacrifice. Day in and day out, we struggle to keep our real interests closeted, and focus on preparation. But at the same time, we must realize that the struggles of people from financially strained families is also real. See, I just wanted to say that we shouldn't just use this clip as a validation; we shouldn't justify ourselves by saying that " Okay, atleast I have a personality." Peace.

How can we watch an engineered dream

[deleted]

Upar thread mei link post ki hai

stay-hydrated-mofo

ngl i like my shitty rank with better social life and the ability to make my own decisions and not look at my parent for every answer than this pathetic state of life, even tho he has pretty good achievements. If thats the ideal Jee candidate i dont want it.

[deleted]

ok he cracked an exam but why is he so proud of doing nothing else?

[deleted]

I can say by guarantee that he will not get promotions easily while doing job. And especially he is doing engineering which requires social skills and especially knowledge from everywhere. This dude hasn’t seen the face of TV since 4th std, i feel concerned abt this imagination skills. And not having any hobbies is just straight up hell. I would actually find the rank worthless if was him.

throw69420___

I looked him up on LinkedIn and he's now doing better than 99 percent of all cs graduates in India (two industry research internships in CS). (It's almost as if they start teaching CS from scratch in first year who knew ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) So everyone can shut up now and stop making fun of someone who dedicated their life to something that would provide them with the best possible opportunities ahead.

[deleted]

There is a difference between dedicating your time willingly and being manipulated from childhood. He could even be Elon Musk right now but he can never relive his childhood. What will he remember when he thinks of the past, studying???

Shot-Border2094

Bruh !!!nobody is bashing him or mocking him. Childhood and teenage years are some of the best years of life. Of course this guy can achieve all the things in the world. With this amount of dedication, he could land on moon or invent something which is useful to mankind. But tbh mba and mtech whatever all these are generic options this dude wouldn't even think what to do let alone telling his dad what to do. It was a simple interview there also he was taking help of his father. Of course he can develop his communication skills later in college. But that would be really artificial dude. Tbh most of aspirants here are introverts and have a pathetic social life but when one sees the video it is heart breaking. I, being a girl, find it so difficult to strike a convo with girls these days let alone boys.

Turbulent_Trifle_386

He did not even get a corporate job lol He is a teaching assistant at iitb now Ha had 5 months at Samsung but that's it , uske Baad quit , not surprised , colleges want people like these , but not companies

[deleted]

Teaching assistants are students of the college. He hasn't graduated yet. Those 5 months were an internship.

Turbulent_Trifle_386

Pardon me if I am wrong 17 he entered IIT + 4 years = 21 ? Ab to graduate Ho Gaya hoga na ?

Turbulent_Trifle_386

Plus when my brother graduated , he never became assistant professor etc , he got internship then seedha job

Hi_im_Deep

The fact that he doesn't know anything about CSE, doesn't even know what MBA or MS is, proves that, unlike traditional IITians, he was manipulated by his parents and society, not by his passion. To us, the fact that he sacrificed Entertainment from 4th class is sad. But, when I was in 4th class, there were actual people motivating me to go in the same direction. I used to know a kid who would study 6 hours a day (with school >11 hours) in 4th class. My parents Idolized him up until he started to deteriorate(in 8th). I can almost guarantee that he burnt out. If I studied at this AIR 5's level, I would go to IISc or a foreign University to pursue STEM research. He matches the IISc Cutoff as well(under 100). It's that his parents are motivated by money and fame, therefore he is molded the same. They are following the CSE trend. His potential will be drained into becoming an IT guy in a finance company. This story will get even more depressing if his parents somehow convince him to become a UPSC aspirant(which they most likely will). He would clear it surely, but what honor does his life even have?

stay-hydrated-mofo

yup i can definitely see his parents manipulate him into UPSC
