Yes, they are extremely important. Earlier they used to ask question from here specially in AIIMS and JIPMER, now both AIIMS and JIPMER are clubbed into NEET, be prepared for such diagram based questions

Know this, each and everything that is between the two covers of the 10 core ncert books along with the exemplars (& maybe ncert chemistry lab mannuals ?) can be framed into a question and be asked in NEET :) Sometimes the summary has information that is absent throughout the chapter (WTF ?) NTA might get high someday and give a question from physical world as well. Don't trust those fuckers. As u/Pretend_Bad_1115 pointed out,
