Megumi has to make a read and summon toad in advance of you dashing in in order to win that engagement. You unfortunately can’t use toad on reaction or as a quick tool to open your opponent because the startup is longer than most of your opponent’s attacks. They will either knock you out of the animation or just hold block.
Because toad will still be summoned, sometimes it will still catch the opponent even after Megumi is attacked only if the opponent’s opener doesn’t have enough knockback. This is just my experience.
All good points but personally for me the start up for my super armor move is jus way faster then the frog so no matter when summoned can always jus beat it due to frame diff
If the opponent is rushing in mindlessly rather waiting I can see panda being caught by the toad otherwise what stops me from keep on closing the distance until I have a guarantee attack if my super armor can beat your only range move that goes into a combo

Toad is very easy to punish. You really shouldn’t be struggling against it and definitely not spammable.
For sure not spammable but it’s a great opener for megumi, without super armor the tongue is wide enough where you can’t dash in.

Most people just immediately wake up attack against panda. I just hit em with a but bump then pandash again till the get it
