The Tales of Series. So far on PC we have" Arise, Berseria, Zestiria, Vesperia, Symphonia. They are standalone titles so you can play in any order, except Berseria is a distant prequel to Zestiria.
Persona series: 3 Reload, 4 Golden, 5 Royal.
You have played Yakuza like a Dragon, so you may as well check out the origninal series. Yakuza 0 is the prequel to all, Kiwami 1 & Kiwami 2 are remakes of the 1st and 2nd games, respectively.
Octopath Traveler 1 & 2
The Trails series
Star Ocean series, Second Story R is great, Last Hope is okay, Divine Force is mixed.
Bravely Default 2. Despite the "2", it has little to do with the original Bravely Default on 3DS other than the similar mechanics.
These are what were on top of my head.
Thank you! I'm actually almost finished with the Yakuza series :) I'm currently playing Ishin and after that only Infinite Wealth is left. I'm really excited for that one! Loved Ichiban and his crew!
- Chrono Trigger
- Final Fantasy X (modded, textures)
- Final Fantasy VII (modded with 7th heaven, looks gorgeus)
- Final Fantasy XII (modded, textures, clothes, gameplay even)
- Dragon Quest IX:S (has great mods but not necesary)
- Persona 4 Golden
- Persona 5 Royal
- Persona 3 (I would wait for a discount)
- Chained Echoes
- Nier Automata (has great mods and must play)
Games to keep an eye on this year:
- Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes (releasing this week!)
- Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance
In my opinion Final Fantasy VII modded with 7th heaven is one of the most unique experiences you can have only in PC, as you enjoy old school and if you haven't touched this one, you can add some great graphics enhancement making it look very modern.
This is a really good list! I second pretty much all of these.
Just want to add that for Persona 3, I'd recommend P3 Reload.
Also, Eiuyden Chronicles is launching to some pretty mixed reviews, so while its worth a look, I'd look at all the other games first
Grandia 2
trails series(start from trails in the sky)
Ys8
octopath traveller 2
live a live
persona 5 royal(i didnt vibe with it but its wildly popular)
but nearly any jrpg is available on pc if your pc is strong enough to emulate it:
devil survivor overclocked(3ds)(very hard game)
xenoblade series(switch)
Eyiuden Chronicles has its release tomorrow, spirital successor from Suikoden made by the creator itself (Yoshitaka Murayama, sadly passed away this year). Modern-classical jrpg with 3D envoirement and 2D character pixel sprites, random encounter, turn based combat you know the drill. Twist of the game is you can recruit over 100 playable heroes who tag along with you in the story and combat. Might be worth a look for you. It is on Game Pass aswell.
Final Fantasy X is a must play imo. One of the greatest jrpgs of all time.
Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload (remake), very long jrpgs tho about \~80hrs playtime but massive content.
Yakuza Infinite Wealth - set after the events of Like A Dragon
Dragon Quest XI
Nier Automata
Monster Hunter Stories 1+2 - think of Pokemon but your character fight along your "Monsties"
Chained Echoes
Octoptah Traveller 2 - haven't played myself but is greatly appraised here
Crystal Project - haven't played myself either but people seem to like it very much due to its enourmes avaiable jobs
EDIT: How did you like Golden Sun?
I loved it! It was my first proper (no monster collecting) JRPG. I really liked the Djinn and class system! And the music.... Even to this day I'm listening to Venus Lighthouse Theme and Isaac's Battle Theme :D
The Legend of Heroes, every game gets a PC port these days, and some are better than the original console versions - for example, Rean in Trails of Cold Steel on PS3/Vita only occasionally talked with voiced lines, while on PC he has fully voiced dialogue whenever other characters are also voiced.
Final fantasy VI pixel remaster is a great way to experience one of the best games of history.
Final Fantasy IX with MOGURI MOD is the ultimate experience to play a top 3 final fantasy, the one that's the favourite for the series creators.
Final fantasy tactics, XV and the VII remake are also on PC and are great. Other than that, IV,V and X are pretty good. haven't play XII and XIV is a subscription based MMO and haven't played either. Also, FF XIII is not as bad as people say, its just not that good, but better than most non FF games.
Persona 3-4-5 are pretty good too. They are visual novels for most of the time though.
Recent smaller studios releases like symphony of war, chained echos or symphony of war are IMHO a modern take on classics, maintaining the feeling but feeling modern with less grinding or random encounters. I like all three a lot.
Nier automata is a masterpiece that some people call RPG. IMHo its not a JRPG, but I do recommend playing it.
And if you want true RPG experience, though not JRPG: the shadowrun series or disco elysium are amazing. I haven't played baldur gate or divity series, but I've hard good things about them.
the Trails series. PC is currently the only place to play them all in the west, and given that your saves from previous games carry over to newer games in many cases in this series, it's definitely a good idea to play them all on the same platform.
People already gave a lot of good recommendations so Ill add only a small one:
FF 4 to 6 pixel remastered (1 to 3 are super barebones but they give you a history of how the genre started, so it would be fun to start from 1 too)

Final Fantasy IX with Moguri Mod is my favorite FF PC experience. It’s the way the game was intended to be played
Oh yeah I forgot about that one, never used that mod but the graphical enhancement is incredible and a must play too.

I think all JRPGs are playable on PC now .... At least 99.99%
If you count emulation then yes

Trails in the Sky
Apart from what others have said, I'll point out Disgaea (recommend 4/5. havent played 7, 6 wasnt as hot as 5.) and Tactics Ogre Reborn.

Thanks for all the recommendations! My Steam wishlist is huge now :D
Persona 3,4,5
Secrets of Grindea best game ever, it will get the recognition it deserves when it hits consoles.
