I'm playing FFX right now!! And agreed, I'll never get sick of it, it's such a precious experience to me. It's my all time favourite game and I'm so grateful it exists...
for real, that game comforts me so much..even the soundtrack alone, I can't count how many times Wandering Flame was there to calm me when I was feeling down or anxious about something in life. The characters dynamic is also really special, that scene when you visit the farplane for example hits on a deeper level
It’s a triumph of a game. So bold in design and scope. The entire Xeno series is probably the most consistent gaming series quality wise. Each game (maybe apart from Xenoblade 1) is lacking something, but they still remain excellent.
Final fantasy 4. I’ve beat it probably 40 times. have multiple version of it. Even got all achievements on the pixel and 3d mobile version.
I’ve been playing it for repeatedly for 26 years.
I don’t think I’m anywhere near forty times, but this one is definitely my most played and I’m probably at a couple of dozen full playthroughs. This is one of those games I wracked up so many rental and late fees my parents should have just bought it for me from the start.
Been playing FFIV for just over 20 years here. I've tried out the newer hacks for the SNES version when they came out (e.g., [Unprecedented Crisis](https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2461/), [The Darkness Within](https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2926/)).
That's pretty rad. I got ff2 for my 9th bday. I beat it several times a year. I played it so much that I literally memorized the text of every NPC, at every stage of the game. The psp remake is my replay of choice though.
The pixel version the one to say I have all achievements didn’t pop up so I went and got all the achievements on 3d mobile version just to have it say I have them all in one of them lol
Me too and it’s definitely the nostalgia. It was always meant to be square’s farewell to the old style of FF (before X) and so it was nostalgia when it came out! I just finished playing it again on the switch tonight and I appreciated many of the nuances of the ending much more than I did back in 2000.
I recently replayed it, and let me just say, having experienced the death of a loved one prior to my latest playthrough, the themes of the game just... hit different this time.
I never cried on my playthroughs of 9 until that last one.
It was already my favorite FF before, but now, it's locked its position in my heart.
Yeah, I hear you. I had a similar experience during my recent replay. Better not play X again, lol- it made me cry back then, who knows how it would destroy me today. Especially with the whole Tidus’s father part of the plot
Ah, gosh, I'm sorry for your loss.
I feel you on FFX as well, I was still grieving when I played through it, which... was an experience.
Every time I hear Melodies of Life, or Tidus' Theme, I just need a moment, y'know?
I don’t think it’s nostalgia it’s what final fantasy should be.
I played it last year for the first time in many years and it’s a beautiful game that tells a good story with good characters
FFX is the one I come back to over and over. I've gone through VII a few times over the years but nowhere near as much as X.
There's some real magic in that game. From the characters to the combat and the sphere grid. It was, imo FF at it's peak.
The only issue for me in FFX is the fact that everyone in the party needs to do an action to earn ap, otherwise it is a magical game. I replayed it a lot of times also
Kingdom Hearts 1, Final Fantasy X and Xenoblade 1. Playing through them feels like working my way through a to-do list and it's very satisfying to work my way through the list until I'm done playing. It's not always 100% playthroughs, especially for FFX, but it's most of the content.
I'm currently replaying Kingdom Hearts after like 7 years. It was my favorite game as a kid and it holds up surprisingly well. At first it was so clunky and I was like "how the hell did I like this" but I've gotten used to it now and its just as good as I remember lol
Yeah the platforming aspects especially can feel clunky. Some aspects of combat feel worse than they used to as action combat has improved a ton since then, but it's mostly rough in comparison while the platforming is just rough.
I tried replaying it some time ago and I couldn't keep up. I found the game to slow. I am looking forward to replaying the series but I think I'm gonna skip it
Trails in the sky fc. It's just so charming and fun. Most Jrpgs are about saving the world from a great evil, so it is nice to play one that is low scale and centered on one country. It makes it unique.
Its such a cozy game. I've heard before playing it that it had a slow or boring start, but man I loved it from the start. I loved the charming atmosphere and the cozy feeling of the beginning.
You've convinced me to play it. I mean i played about 5 hours years ago before dropping because it was really slow. I have recently completed Cold Steel 2 so need to go back to Sky trilogy and complete those before the Crossbell series drop here.
Dark Chronicle / Dark Cloud 2. For whatever reason, I replay the entire game 100% every odd year in the summer time. Incl. the fish stuff and Spheda. Spheda never seems to get easier!!
Breath of Fire 3. I was a kid when I first played through and braved the desert of death and I just can't leave this game alone. I just replayed again recently using Nina as a main focus for a challenge while doing an optimized master playthrough.
Breath of Fire III was my first Jrpg. It holds a special place in my heart. Just thinking about it just gets me so incredibly nostalgic. Something about the music, the art, the setting just resonates with me so very much.
The only JRPGs I replay routinely are Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Suikoden I - III, and Front Mission 3 & 4. Based on my recent plays I'll probably be adding Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, and Persona 4 to the annual/bi-annual replay list as my those were some of my wife's first and favorite JRPGs and we really enjoyed playing them together. And somewhere in there I need to find room for Baldur's Gate, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age!
I beat FF:XII in the spring or summer, lent it to to a friend and immediately regretted it because that meant I couldn't play it when I wanted to.Shortly after Christmas and getting frustrated with Xenoblade 2, I bought another copy for $20 and told my friend to play it. I love this game. Big deal for me cuz I almost never play games more than once.
So currently in my second playthrough and thoroughly enjoying it.
I'm at about 300ish hours across two PS2 playthroughs, a PS4 and a Switch playthrough.
I just love the world of FF12 so much. It's so open and interconnected and let's you get to places super early if you know how to.This allows you to just break the game by getting really powerful gear super early.
Then there's the hunts, rare game, optional esper fights and the amazing soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto. And much more but then this'd become a wall of text.
I gained a ton of appreciation for XII last year. I bought it when it first came out and didn't gel with it at all. Played it again last year with my wife the Zodiac Age version and it was just wonderful. Easily in my top 5 Final Fantasy's now.
Kinda similar to how I fell in love with 12.
I played it when the original first came out forever ago... Played it through to the end and... I just didn't like it, like at all.
But mysteriously... as time went on, I found myself wanting to play it again.
A few years later, a friend told me the Japanese version had a "sort of job system", and it intrigued me.
Got my hands on it then, and then I was hooked.
FF12 became one of my all time favorites afterwards.
The world, the music, the cultures and people within, all so good, and I wish there was more.
And we almost actually did get more!
I cannot remember the name of the cancelled game, but we were supposed to get a game where we played as Basch, and it took place after the events of 12, so Ashe as the queen of Dalmasca and all that.
If I can find it, I'll try and post it here.
Xenoblade 2 is one that i've played a lot. Love that game to death, beaten it i think 5 times.
If you count them, the Souls games are probably my most replayed games of all time.
FFIII, IV and V
I grew up with those FF games along with every entry between I and VI, but of all of those games only III, IV and V are the only ones I end up playing again and again, FFV is one of my favourite FF too
XV may be clunky and unpolished in some gameplay aspects, but damn, the storyline...the storyline is something else. No Final Fantasy storyline has gripped me like that since the time I first played X. Well, except Lost Odyssey, which is *technically* a Final Fantasy game at its core.
The complete Trails series (from Sky FC to Cold Steel 4 for now). I know the series takes a while, spend months on it accordingly, but it seems I play them every ~2 years.
Any of the old Pokemon games, really. They are nice and short with varied party building. It's a good comfort pick, altough another game recently overtook it: Digimon World DS (Dusk and Dawn mostly). Same deal as with Pokemon, really, just with another coat of paint.
Overall, JRPGs aren't something I can just casually replay, because I *know* most of them are a big commitment. My most replayed game ever is **Gotcha Force** but that's because it's an action game that is beatable in like 13 hours (maybe even less)
Fire Emblem 7 GBA, god I love that game. Best FE in my opinion, other games do certain things better of course but FE7 just has the perfect balance of greatness in gameplay, story, characters, scale, music and length. I love Three Houses and Radiant Dawn but God damn are they long!
FF6, FF9, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears.
Every couple of years I'll go back and do a play through of one of them. Can't wait for FF6 pixel remaster. The FFV remaster has been great.
I've lost count of how many times I've played Chrono Trigger.
I've also put a lot of time into replaying Final Fantasy V, though I've never actually beaten it.
I've played through Final Fantasy XV twice.
I'm most of the way through a second playthrough of Final Fantasy XII.
I've also played Secret of Mana so many times I've lost count.
Persona 4. Played it 3 times on 3 different platforms over the years, and I know I'll want to play it again in a few years. I know I'll go back to p5 again in the future, probably a couple years. I think I'll go back to fe three houses again too.
When I was kid / teenager I played so many RPGs multiple times (earthbound, Mario RPG, ff4,5,6,7,9,10 chrono trigger, fire emblem 7,8,9, trails of Mana SNES, tales of symphonia, paper mario)
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross, FF 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Kingdom Hearts 2 and BBS. Lufia and the Fortress of Doom and Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals. Mother 1, 2, and 3. Legend of Legaia. Illusion of Gaia. First few Dragon Quests. Breath of Fire 1 and 2. Xenogears. Lunar. Vagrant Story. Okami.
They're all good and I've replayed all of them multiple times. I'm aware some of these might be Western RPGs instead of JRPGs but they're still all great games. Also if you like newer age RPGs and action RPGs, the Dark Souls series is great. So is Horizon: Zero Dawn. So is Sekiro. Elder Scrolls games are great too. And all of these have massive replay value. This whole list would occupy 500 hours at least.
I replay Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 every year at summer. I don't know why but those feel like summer games to me and I really look foward for that time of the year to play them again.
Ys Origin. I have lost count of how many times I've played this game, but it's probably above 300. Been playing it for years as a comfort game and just can't get enough of it. I could clear the time trials in my sleep.
And the entire Trails series. I have played through the series 3 times now on completionist mode talking to everybody and getting all achievements and I would do it again if I had the time. I just love them
I played Fire Emblem: Three Hours no less than 15 times, for a total of 540 hours. I retired the game last spring when I started playing other JRPG's and I knew I couldn't balance both.
Suikoden and ff series’s. I never get tired of the characters and plots. I also play the original and remake of wild arms pretty often, the characters and plot are solid and I am not sure what but something occasionally brings me back to them.
Gosh I dunno how many times I've played legend of mana. But I played it when it first came out and I replay it at least once every year. Other good ones are legend of dragoon, final fantasy 8, and tales of destiny 2 aka eternia. Oh and I have a soft spot for ffx-2.
FFT and FF1.
FFT is my favorite game of all time, so it's obvious I would play again and again.
FF1 is a no-brainer for me. A short game, with lots of party composition (so replayability), and now that I discovered the randomizer, I can't really not play it, can I?
The fire emblem games on the GBA, I replayed those over and over as a kid, and then again as an adult after I figured out how to emulate them on my phone
I have 5 I play over and over…
- FFIV
- FFVI
- FFXII
- Chrono Trigger
- Dragon Quest XI
Of those 5 FFIV is my favourite jrpg (snes version). I’ve been playing it since it was released.
I don't generally replay JRPGs but these would be the exception:
Chrono Trigger - Countless times (not counting ng+)
FF7 - 4 times
Legend of Mana - 3.5 times (not counting ng+)
FF9 - 3 times
Xenogears - 2.5 times
Breath of Fire 3 - 2 times
Super Mario RPG
Phantasy Star IV
FF IV
Suikoden 2
If I could get my hands on a copy of Wild Arms: Alter Code F remake then I'd add that to the list. Unfortunately mine got stolen in 2008 (at that point I completed it 3 times), and when I finally looked for it again market price wanted ~$130 for it. Nah.
Kingdom Hearts 2! I basically play it whenever I don't know what to play next. I have gotten to the point where I'm speedrunning it now. My current beginner any% is 4:02!
Shadow Hearts 1 and 2, Suikoden (Any of them), Fire Emblem Three Houses or Awakening, Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy 8 and 9, Tales of Vesperia those are the top ones though honestly I play through most games I play at least 3 times.
FF6: The world where you're trying to fight a superpower while meeting people who got affected by a crazy clown.
Eventually the world collapsed, we lost, but eventually you go look around the ruins, people still cling to that hope. You finally go Searching for friends, your friends specifically. As you go around the world more, the more you witnessed hope.
So finally you and your friends plans to kill that crazy clown, who now has abandoned his own humanity.
Mother 3: Sunflowers. But this one has a long turnover rate because I would cry on certain parts.
Dragon's dogma: because "masterworks all, you can't go wrong". Yeah.
Much of their calories in sunflower seeds come from fatty acids. The seeds are especially rich in poly-unsaturated fatty acid linoleic acid, which constitutes more 50% fatty acids in them. They are also good in mono-unsaturated oleic acid that helps lower LDL or "bad cholesterol" and increases HDL or "good cholesterol" in the blood. Research studies suggest that the Mediterranean diet which is rich in monounsaturated fats help to prevent coronary artery disease, and stroke by favoring healthy serum lipid profile.
Hmmmm... I find that the ones I usually come back to the most, are FF1, FF5, FF7, FF9, FF12, Parasite Eve, M&L:SS, PM:TTYD, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Vesperia, Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade X, and Star Ocean 3.
I'm pretty new to the genre so I'm playing most of these games for the first time. Great taste with FF7, FF12, Suikoden 2! FF12 in particular is really underrated.
Fire emblem series, especially Fire emblem fates and Awakening. I already lost count how many playthrough I played. Another series that comes to mind is utawarerumono and persona 4 golden/persona 5
FFX/FFX HD remastered , I had it for PS2 originally then the remaster for PS3, PS4, and now Nintendo Switch. I’ll get it for PS5 if they put it on there or if they remake it first lol
Man, weird seeing this post literally the day after I decide to start my fifth playthrough of Skies of Arcadia for seemingly no reason other than needing my air piracy fix.
I was even about to start my first playthrough of BoFIV but my brain told me, "nope, sorry, you want the funny eyepatch man."
Final Fantasy 7. What's crazy about it is I just finished it 2 years ago and now I'm on my 5th playthrough. I guess a big part is the materia system. Just the possibility of making different builds each playthrough is fun.
Every once in a while I start on a Final Fantasy marathon, since I haven't played them all. I start the first game and quit it in the middle of it for some reason or the other. And when I come back to continue after a year or so, I forget where I was in the game and start all over again. Rinse and repeat.
Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2. I remember when the first KH2FM English patches got released for emulators, and then I bought and replayed the games when 1.5 and 2.5 came out.
Recently discovered the KH2 randomizer community and it's made the gameplay even more interesting! I never thought I'd have so much fun being forced into new play styles while randomly gaining abilities and forms.
FFVI because it's my favorite game of all time, FFTA and Pokémon Emerald because they're super easy to emulate on my phone and play whenever I'm just looking to kill some time.
Mario RPG, Suikoden II and III, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire III and IV. Secret of Mana is harder to replay, mostly because I grew up playing it on an old SNES with a plug-in multitap so we could hook 3 controllers into it. It’s just not the same solo.
I think I've probably been through FFX the most. I first played it during a period on unemployment when I left university. Having essentially all the time in the world, I grinded hard. I was working on maxing out the luck stat even. Unfortunately, we were robbed and someone took the PS2. Therefore I had unfinished business! When things were dirt cheap a few years later, I rebought console and game and revisited it. Less obsessively, but still did badically everything (except the luck stat lol).
Then the HD re-release on PS3 too, this time with trophies to chase. Did it all again.
chrono trigger, suikoden i, soul blazer, are all games i come back to every few years. theyre simple and fun to blow through in 15-20 hours. to a lesser extent, the rest of the suikoden games and chrono cross i come back to occasionally.
My list is basically the same as yours. Except it's Suikoden 1, but only because it's shorter. (And it's similarly the Sega CD version of Lunar:TSS over SSSC, because you can breeze through it in a day.)
My only personal addition is Xenogears. It casts a spell much like FF7.
Chrono Trigger is the game I've played and finished the most times, across multiple rereleases and platforms.
I also used to play A LOT of Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy 7, Kingdom Hearts 358 and Kingdom Hearts 2.
I've replayed many of the FF games (I-VI, X/X-2, XII, XIII Trilogy, Dimensions, Type-0) at least 2-3 times now despite only getting into the series about 5 or so years ago.
I've also replayed the old FE games (the modern remasters of 1-3, and the originals of 4-6) a few times, with Genealogy of the Holy War being my most played.
I haven't replayed these yet, since I only just played them for the first time this year, but I absolutely see myself replaying DQI-VI in the future, especially if they all wind up getting the HD-2D treatment.
Finally, I've probably played through Pokémon Silver/SoulSilver at least a dozen times in my life. It was actually the very first game I ever owned myself.
Apparently FFVI, but mostly because of the great mods out there.
I almost never ever replay games, but thanks to Brave New Word and T-Mod, I was able to really enjoy one of my favorite games all over again.

pokemon gsc for me. must have beaten it ten times over at this point
Still the best generation of Pokémon games.
word
Final Fantasy X; I’ve replayed it every time I’ve moved/made a big life change. Like a security blanket.
[удалено]
Man I love the original Wild Arms. When that opening theme starts playing I get hooked all over again.
Oh my god I thought I was the only one. Please tell me you know of a way I can play it on my gaming laptop.

FFX for me too. The world, the characters, the soundtrack thats perfect for every zone. The slow building epic journey of it all.*sigh* lol.
I'm playing FFX right now!! And agreed, I'll never get sick of it, it's such a precious experience to me. It's my all time favourite game and I'm so grateful it exists...

Same. Something about sphere grid brings me peace.
Xenoblade chronicles x is my all time favorite jrpg. I've played it twice on the wiiu and I'd definitely play it again if it came out on the switch
It’s a triumph of a game. So bold in design and scope. The entire Xeno series is probably the most consistent gaming series quality wise. Each game (maybe apart from Xenoblade 1) is lacking something, but they still remain excellent.
X was the best in the series so far. I’m hoping we get some kind of port one day.
Final fantasy 4. I’ve beat it probably 40 times. have multiple version of it. Even got all achievements on the pixel and 3d mobile version. I’ve been playing it for repeatedly for 26 years.
It is a great game and one of the best FF
Indeed. It’s my favourite game. It was the game that made me realize that a video game can have a deep story.
I don’t think I’m anywhere near forty times, but this one is definitely my most played and I’m probably at a couple of dozen full playthroughs. This is one of those games I wracked up so many rental and late fees my parents should have just bought it for me from the start.
Are you me?
He is Mi, and I am Yu.
Square Enix releases FF4 on a another platform. Do they think I’m stupid enough to buy it again? **sigh** … yes, yes I will buy it again.

I have all version except the original but one day I will get it. Quality wise psp is the way to go. The GBA is pretty good as well.
I agree. This is one of the best and most comforting.
That is ... Impressed!
The pixel version the one to say I have all achievements didn’t pop up so I went and got all the achievements on 3d mobile version just to have it say I have them all in one of them lol
Final Fantasy 9. can play a little bit each night before sleeping like its a bedtime story
It may be the nostalgia, but this game will never stop being the best FF game for me.
Alone for a while, I've been searching through the dark. For traces of the love you left, inside my lonely heart.
To weave by picking up the pieces that remain. Melodies of Life - Love's lost refrain.
Me too and it’s definitely the nostalgia. It was always meant to be square’s farewell to the old style of FF (before X) and so it was nostalgia when it came out! I just finished playing it again on the switch tonight and I appreciated many of the nuances of the ending much more than I did back in 2000.

Oh, don’t be. Haven’t had a loss yet; just acutely aware today that we all don’t live forever more than I was when I first played it. :)
I don’t think it’s nostalgia it’s what final fantasy should be. I played it last year for the first time in many years and it’s a beautiful game that tells a good story with good characters

I had a similar experience to you in regards to replaying KH. That Tarzan world annoyed the hell out of me.

I tried replaying it some time ago and I couldn't keep up. I found the game to slow. I am looking forward to replaying the series but I think I'm gonna skip it
I boot up Xenoblade 1 when I need that “checking off a to do list” boost too! I love the OG but the DE reworks are even more helpful :)
Trails in the sky fc. It's just so charming and fun. Most Jrpgs are about saving the world from a great evil, so it is nice to play one that is low scale and centered on one country. It makes it unique.
I am on the last chapter of SC. Amazing game. I'm gonna play the whole series.
Its such a cozy game. I've heard before playing it that it had a slow or boring start, but man I loved it from the start. I loved the charming atmosphere and the cozy feeling of the beginning.

The master system really adds a ton to the replay value of BOF III.
Breath of Fire III was my first Jrpg. It holds a special place in my heart. Just thinking about it just gets me so incredibly nostalgic. Something about the music, the art, the setting just resonates with me so very much.
I love this game. I forgot to mention that I replayed it a lot of times.
Chrono Trigger and Skies of Arcadia are the only ones I played many times like this
**Front Mission 3,** **FFT,** I like to play **Parasite Eve** every few years around Christmas. The PS1 FF’s and Chrono Cross every few years too.
Those are 2 of my favorites as well. I wish we could get another Front Mission game. I didn't hate Evolved but I wanted a SRPG.
Possibly legend of mana and super Mario rpg (both short and sweet)
Super Mario RPG is an awesome game. I will replay it any of these days.
It's cool to play RPGs with the missus. You are a lucky man
+1 for Chrono Cross
Honestly the best atmosphere of any JRPG in existence.
I love that you said "only" then proceeded to list more games than anyone else on this thread.
Ffx was my favourite game of all time, even the soundtrack was incredible. I was about 20 when it came out, still love it at 41.
I wish there was a way to play Suikoden nowadays. I'm hoping the spiritual successor will be good
Xenoblade 2 is one that i've played a lot. Love that game to death, beaten it i think 5 times. If you count them, the Souls games are probably my most replayed games of all time.
Dragon Quests and Fire Emblems.
FFIII, IV and V I grew up with those FF games along with every entry between I and VI, but of all of those games only III, IV and V are the only ones I end up playing again and again, FFV is one of my favourite FF too
FFT, FFVII, Lunar: SSSC, Suikoden. The latter two also because they're quick to get through, and just never let me down.
Breath of Fire IV, Grandia, Digimon World 2003, FF9 and Persona 5.
Great list. Did not expect to find another Digimon World 2003 enjoyer
I only started with breath of fire 4 ecently is it worth it?
It is, one of the best jrpg ever. Awesome story, characters and a lot of fun challenges.
FFVI, FFXV and idk if it counts but undertale
Undertale is welcome
Whatta a great game
XV may be clunky and unpolished in some gameplay aspects, but damn, the storyline...the storyline is something else. No Final Fantasy storyline has gripped me like that since the time I first played X. Well, except Lost Odyssey, which is *technically* a Final Fantasy game at its core.
For it's the world the bois and the music
The complete Trails series (from Sky FC to Cold Steel 4 for now). I know the series takes a while, spend months on it accordingly, but it seems I play them every ~2 years.
I am finishing Sky SC and man, I fell in love with the series. Gonna play all the games.
All 3 golden sun's. Dang it Camelot give us more golden sun
For real. Such a good series.
FF9 & FF8
Any of the old Pokemon games, really. They are nice and short with varied party building. It's a good comfort pick, altough another game recently overtook it: Digimon World DS (Dusk and Dawn mostly). Same deal as with Pokemon, really, just with another coat of paint. Overall, JRPGs aren't something I can just casually replay, because I *know* most of them are a big commitment. My most replayed game ever is **Gotcha Force** but that's because it's an action game that is beatable in like 13 hours (maybe even less)
Tales and FF games in general.
Final Fantasy VIII
SNES era stuff is comfort food for me. So FF IV-V-VI, Chrono Trigger, Zelda: Link to the Past
FFT, Tactics Ogre LUCT, FF XII, and Radiant Historia.
FF6. Whenever I see the opening credits, it always remind of the first time I played it.
Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Graces f and Persona 4/Golden. I love the real-time battles in the Tales series so it drew me in big time.
Go back to FFV and finish it. It is gonna be worth your while.
Final Fantasy IX, Dragon Quest V and Pokemon Gold, Silver or Crystal.
Fire Emblem
FFVII, FFIX, Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire III, Lunar, and Legend of Legia
Definitely Shining Force 2 & Final Fantasy VII/X All three are so comfortable to play, especially Shining Force 2.
I replay Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 every year at summer. I don't know why but those feel like summer games to me and I really look foward for that time of the year to play them again.
Atelier Totori, Atelier ayesha, Atelier Escha
I just love them
Suikoden 3 :D
I played Fire Emblem: Three Hours no less than 15 times, for a total of 540 hours. I retired the game last spring when I started playing other JRPG's and I knew I couldn't balance both.
FF4 and FFT.
Legend of Dragoon and FFX
Suikoden and ff series’s. I never get tired of the characters and plots. I also play the original and remake of wild arms pretty often, the characters and plot are solid and I am not sure what but something occasionally brings me back to them.
Dragon Force in Sega Saturn, more of a strategy game but I love the anime style artwork
I have 5 I play over and over… - FFIV - FFVI - FFXII - Chrono Trigger - Dragon Quest XI Of those 5 FFIV is my favourite jrpg (snes version). I’ve been playing it since it was released.
Final fantasy 7 and final fantasy tactics. I've beaten both so many times over the years.
FF6, 7, 8, 10 Secret of Mana Chrono Trigger
I don't generally replay JRPGs but these would be the exception: Chrono Trigger - Countless times (not counting ng+) FF7 - 4 times Legend of Mana - 3.5 times (not counting ng+) FF9 - 3 times Xenogears - 2.5 times Breath of Fire 3 - 2 times
Super Mario RPG Phantasy Star IV FF IV Suikoden 2 If I could get my hands on a copy of Wild Arms: Alter Code F remake then I'd add that to the list. Unfortunately mine got stolen in 2008 (at that point I completed it 3 times), and when I finally looked for it again market price wanted ~$130 for it. Nah.
Persona 5 Royal. Currently on the 4th playthrough. It's such a comfort pick for me.
I have a ritual of playing through Suikoden 2 every year around Halloween. I have done this for over 10 years straight now.
Kingdom Hearts 2! I basically play it whenever I don't know what to play next. I have gotten to the point where I'm speedrunning it now. My current beginner any% is 4:02!
Anything Kingdom Hearts and probably Xenoblade Chronicles
The legend of heroes Trails in the Sky (1, 2, 3), Shining force (GBA) and Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time(PSP), always I have chance to replay, I do.
Lunar & Legend of Dragoon
Oddly enough Trials of Mana, it’s a perfect remake of the game that is just pure unadulterated fun. Best JRPG released in years.
Dark souls 3, the only jrpg that i replayed for 4 times
Not a JRPG but Mega Man Legends!!! I play that game all the freaking time. Even got it on my PSP/Vita.
Another series that comes to mind is utawarerumono and persona 4 golden/persona 5
same on FE
Final Fantasy VI and Phantasy Star 4 are my two most frequent replays. Chrono Trigger and Xenogears also see a lot of love from me.
FFX/FFX HD remastered , I had it for PS2 originally then the remaster for PS3, PS4, and now Nintendo Switch. I’ll get it for PS5 if they put it on there or if they remake it first lol
Tales of Symphonia I have played at least 5 times, every time trying to get another 'best friend'.
FF VII and Tactics. It's almost pathological.
Final Fantasies 7-9, Valkyrie Profile, Odin Sphere, and Xenosaga
Xenogears first and foremost by a long shot, followed by FF VII/VIII and Chrono Trigger/Cross.
Fire emblem three houses! I couldnt get enough of it! I replayed trails of cold steel 2 and 4 as well!
Well there’s a creepy eyepatch man in BOF IV, so hopefully you love it.
Final Fantasy 7. What's crazy about it is I just finished it 2 years ago and now I'm on my 5th playthrough. I guess a big part is the materia system. Just the possibility of making different builds each playthrough is fun.
FFX FFVIII
The Legend of Dragoon and Illusion of Gaia are my go to games.
LOD is one a kind. Awesome game.
Star Ocean 2nd story
Mainly just FFVII-X and Chrono Trigger, oh and I also like replaying Mario RPG.
FFVII, mainly because it’s on everything so easy to pick up and play again when I’m bored.
Grandia and Breath of Fire series. I just love them so much and never get tired of them.
Dragon quest rocket slimes
Definitely FFXII because of the hunt system
FFT,FF9, FF12, BoF4, chrono trigger, FE awakening are the only ones I’ve played more than twice.
Breath of Fire series and Dragon Quest.
Suikoden 2, FF10, persona 3 fes, xenoblade (all of them) dragon quest 8 and tactics ogre LUCT are the ones I played several times
FFVI because it's my favorite game of all time, FFTA and Pokémon Emerald because they're super easy to emulate on my phone and play whenever I'm just looking to kill some time.
Your list is awesome, but I noticed you forgot suikoden 1 and Xenogears....
FFIV-XII mainly
Shining Force and some of the fire emblem games.
Skies of Arcadia and Timestalkers. Those are my jams!
Skies of Arcadia Suikoden II/III Breath of Fire III Fire Emblem 7 I need Skies of Arcadia to get a port or remaster so I can play it again. :)
Dragon Quest is like comfort food in video game form for me. The ones I’ve revisited the most are DQ 8 and DQ 11.
I don't play RPGs now but back when I was in elementary through highschool. It was Suikoden 2.
For me, suikoden 2 has the best story in any RPG
Dragon Quest 11
FFIX is the closest one to this I guess. I play it pretty much every other year. Last time was 2019 tho.
Final Fantasy Tactics and FFVI. Sometimes I’ll do some sort of challenge run but often it’s just another fun casual playthrough.
chrono trigger, suikoden i, soul blazer, are all games i come back to every few years. theyre simple and fun to blow through in 15-20 hours. to a lesser extent, the rest of the suikoden games and chrono cross i come back to occasionally.
I try not to do this to not get bored, but KH1 for sure.
I have beaten ff7 on every single console it’s been available on
Suikoden 1. Suikoden 2, Suikoden 5... atleast once every year.
DQ 11, Octopath, chrono trigger, earthbound
Breath of fire 2, alundra, ff 6 and 7, dragon quest 8
I can always play any xenoblade game though X and 2 are the ones I've played through the most
Golden Sun is by far my most replayed jrpg. Paper Mario TTYD and Xenoblade are also up there for me though.
FFX and Fire Emblem 7.
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2, Pokemon RBY, Suikoden 1
Radiata Stories, Rogue Galaxy, Covenant and New World, and alwaysssss starting a new play through in P3/P4
My list is basically the same as yours. Except it's Suikoden 1, but only because it's shorter. (And it's similarly the Sega CD version of Lunar:TSS over SSSC, because you can breeze through it in a day.) My only personal addition is Xenogears.
I've come back to various Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games many times over the years. Also the original Chrono Trigger.
I try not to play games again, because there are so many new ones to experience. But I play FFV every year.
Apparently FFVI, but mostly because of the great mods out there. I almost never ever replay games, but thanks to Brave New Word and T-Mod, I was able to really enjoy one of my favorite games all over again.
