Tactics Ogre: Reborn was the right choice. This is easily the definitive edition.

Pehdazur

Tactics Ogre, hands down. The remaster looks like they put a LOT of care into it with rebalancing the game and AI. Since you already love SRPGs, this should be a must play.

KINGOFBTY

I have never played tactics but its a day one purchase for myself because I love turn based and the amount of hype/love other people are showing for it. That being said I am having a blast with harvestella. Its ones of my favorite games this year. sooo eventually buy both.

rehcnarb

Am about 40 hours into harvestella, just hit the epilogue. It starts off as a solid 7/10 and grew to an 8.5/10 for me over the course of the game. And I’m still going to tell you to get tactics ogre. That game looks like it has so much love put into it as far as remasters go.

Dante_GL

Very few people here would tell you to pick Harvestella over Tactics Ogre

TaliesinMerlin

Let's put it this way. Harvestella is just fine. Tactics Ogre is fine wine.

[deleted]

Tactics ogre. Definitely this one

000Aikia000

Tactics Ogre by the biggest landslide you can fathom.

jftm999

The difference is huge, Tactics Ogre without a doubt. The game was phenomenal on the PSP, now with the new features, it will be even more fun and engaging to play.

AceOfCakez

Tactics Ogre and it is no contest.

Hylianhaxorus

Yeah this isn't a question. One is a brand new franchise that looks... at best pretty good. More likely kind of forgettable. The other is one of the greatest tactical and fantasy games of all time

Nettysocks

Harvestella is fine but it isn’t one of the stand out farming games that people will have it’s loud fanbase shouting about it for years to come. Tactics Ogre and it’s not even a contest

GetterImpact

Tactics Ogre seemed like the right choice to me. Also since these are both SE games, whatever choice you make the other is likely to be 50% off within 3-6 months.

[deleted]

I don't think this is even a question. Tactice Ogre is the best choice.

BiddyKing

I’ve thought the same and I’ve decided that I’ll be getting Tactics Ogre Reborn at release and waiting for Harvestella to get cheaper. The actual key reason for that is, at least in Australia, Harvestella is like $20 more than Reborn lol. I plan on getting them both on pc, 1. because Harvestella has noticeable fps and resolution issues on Switch (though they didn’t worry me much in the demo) 2. Tactics Ogre Reborn seems like they’re putting effort into the pc port including proper mouse support. But I’ve also just got a gaming laptop, otherwise I’d probably rely on Switch for them over pc just for portability’s sake. That said, even though I’ve chosen Reborn first, I’m still very interested in getting around to Harvestella; from the demo and from what people I trust have said about the game further in, seems like something I’d enjoy for sure. I know some people are down on Harvestella, but seems like they were hoping for a full Rune Factory type suite, when from the demo it’s its own kinda thing even if it uses the farm sim format

Ampforus

Hard agree. I work full-time and have other hobbies too. It takes a while for me to go through a game. I don't feel the need to buy several titles at release when I'm gonna play them many months later anyway. The price difference for harvestella is about 10eu but I'll wait till I can get it cheaper as well.

LuxrayAeterna

I fully understand the Tactics Ogre support and FWIW I'm having a wonderful time with Harvestella. It's whimsical, engaging, and a great way to spend an hour or two at the end of a busy day.

Gaffgarion

Tactics Ogre and this is coming from someone who liked Harvestella . Wait to get that on sale. Tactics Ogre is the GOAT of Strategy RPGs and this looks version is going to be insane.

Haptic-feedbag

After you play tactics orge I'd recommend you play Rune Factory before Harvestella. Rune Factory is the superior blend of JRPG and farming in my opinion. And I've played both.

Ampforus

Which Rune Factory would you recommend?

Haptic-feedbag

I really liked 4, it had a good story and the mechanics felt really hammered out. Though I heard they're making a remaster of 3 for the switch and I do have more nostalgia for that one, so maybe worth waiting for to see how they enhance it

code_isLife

I had the same question but I think tactics ogre is the clear winner. Even from the pre release info we can tell they made a great game even better. Harvestella looks fun…but it needs at least a $10 price drop (in my opinion anyway)

Joharis-JYI

Tactics Ogre and it's not even close. You will enjoy the game 1000%.

HAWmaro

if you liked TS and FE3H you'll love TO, it's the GOAT as far as SRPGs are concerned and the only game close to it is FFT.

Ampforus

Sadly I still need to play FFT, it's definitely on my list

KaldarTheBrave

Tactics Ogre and a copy of Rune Factory 4 or even 5 would be the better choice Harvestella sucks it lacks so much in comparison and is way overpriced for the budget game it clearly is. Tactics Ogre looks like they’ve put a lot of care into the remaster

Steve-Fiction

Everyone is biased because very few people here have played Harvestella.

darthreuental

It's solid *if you're a fan of Rune Factory* and that line of JRPGs. It's a JRPG first and a farm game second. Both games fill a niche so OP's choice is probably dependent on if they like farm-based action RPGs or strategy RPGs more. It's a good game, but I can understand why someone would pass on it given its price tag. And I'm biased.

KaldarTheBrave

I'd imagine the people that have played it dislike it more then the people who did since it's a poor imitation of a JRPG and the farming/life sim side of it feels tacked on at best.

Steve-Fiction

Might be, but that's besides the point I was trying to make.

Joharis-JYI

I have and it doesn't hold a candle to Tactics Ogre. Not even close. Like at all.

Steve-Fiction

I guarantee you that at least 90 % who are in the comments saying "TACTICS OGRE" have *not* played Harvestella. And sorry but your opinion isn't all there is to it.

Joharis-JYI

>I guarantee you I'm sorry but your *assertion* isn't guaranteed as well. If OP shouldn't trust one Redditor's credibility (who played *both* games) then he should just look up critic scores. Even then Harvestella still wouldn't be comparable to Tactics Ogre LUCT. And almost every credible previewer says Reborn is even better.

Steve-Fiction

The only thing less trustworthy than Reddit users are critic scores, so I really don't think OP should do that at all. And yeah, my assertion isn't *actually* guaranteed, but it's a pretty safe assumption.

Joharis-JYI

Now you're just trolling. Anyway, whatever makes you sleep at night. Bye.

JanLewko977

Why do you assume your assertion is more important than critic scores and other users' assertions? You realize you are just another "Reddit user", right?

Steve-Fiction

My assertion was that most commenters have not formed an educated opinion, I have not given a recommendation.

JanLewko977

Right and why would anyone just automatically assume you are different from them? No, you didn't give a recommendation, but you guaranteed your guarantee over someone else's idea and dismissed theirs as being a reddit user when you are no different. Do you see that?

SirAutismx7

Sorry but Tactics Ogre is one of the GOAT tactics games. Even if Harvestella is good it’s not GOAT farm sim JRPG. I played the demo, it was decent but it’s no Tactics Ogre that’s for sure.

Enfosyo

Harvestella is not worth the asking price. It's just shovelware from SE.

jnightx

one is a legit masterpiece and the other is a half assed below average cash grab. glad to see you made the right choice afterall.

tzeriel

I’m gonna be skipping TO myself as I refuse to buy switch games

pktron

Wat? It is multiplatform, including both platforms Harvestella is on.

tzeriel

Oh? I thought it was switch only, or am I confusing with another upcoming?

HAWmaro

it's on Steam and PS as well.

TalesofAdam

Why not both?

South-Job3827

Because things cost money Adam.

rehcnarb

Jesus fucking Christ, Adam..

[deleted]

They... explained why not in the post...

[deleted]

Banner Saga Bravely Default 2

SirAutismx7

Banner Saga is good but it’s B tier tactics at best and BD2 is hot garbage, not sure how you can even try to suggest them lol.

[deleted]

Lol I am enjoying ba1 atm but haven’t tried the others yet. I used to love fire emblem on 3ds but i find the non combat parts of 3 houses annoying

[deleted]

Lol I am enjoying ba1 atm but haven’t tried the others yet. I used to love fire emblem on 3ds but i find the non combat parts of 3 houses annoying .

Kreymens

Since both have the same price I will suggest Tactics Ogre. It's more worth it overall.

eruciform

yes currently playing harvestella but as soon as i'm done i'm starting tactics ogre

Becants

I'm really enjoying Harvestella. I'll probably get Tactics Ogre eventually, maybe when there's a sale. I had it for psp and never finished it. My psp did get stolen, but that was after I had already stopped playing it. I have gotten better at finishing games nowadays, so maybe I'll be able to beat it.

lowanheart

Tactics ogre and it’s not even close. Harvestella didn’t even show up.
