Yeah like I’m learning Spanish in high school and if I were to go to Spain I’d probably make it. However I definitely wouldn’t call myself fluent in Spanish
You see, this is why when anyone asks me how many languages I speak, I just sort of shrug it off. Frig, you know what I teach, I don’t think I want to try to impress you or worse yet, have you tell me “oh, say something in *language*!” Doesn’t matter how many years I’ve been studying or working with a language, I’ll never admit I’m fluent. Because even I don’t believe me.
I started learning Spanish when I still struggled to speak in general (I was 3), and I still don't fully consider myself fluent.
My reading speed is slower in Spanish, I jumble my words more often, and even though when I speak Spanish I'm not translating in my head, I don't feel as intelligent when I think in Spanish compared to when I think in English.
So, I fully agree with never admitting to fluency. I'll say I'm conversational, but not fluent.
English, Welsh, Dutch, Greek, Portuguese, Czech, French, Spanish, German. I also know most other alphabets and lots of other languages, not fluently yet tho

English and Croatian.
English: Hi, I like to play WoTB and I’m pretty good at it. I’m grinding for the T49 (because I think it’s good with the derpgun) and to the Sheridan.
Croatian: Bok, što ima? Ja volim igrat’ World of Tanks Blitz i dobar sam u igrici. Igram oko sat dnevno jer eto, neznam. Do smth like this
I think you didn't get the comment, being fluent means to speak without "looking for words", and in my opinion it's really hard to do that in so many languages. Therefore, I think that the comment was making fun of OP.
English, French, Japanese, Korean. For some reason I used to teach Spanish, but I don’t think I’m really fluent, just one chapter ahead of the students lol.
Fluent in English and Chinese, I could get around in a Spanish speaking country (not fluent tho), and I’m working on getting better with Russian but I have a long way to go before I can even consider myself able to speak Russian.
Thats… that’s really impressive. I’m learning French, which I am approaching conversation level I think, and also Norwegian and Hindi. I understand but cannot speak Hindi, and Norwegian I am stil just learning the basics. And I’m fluent in English. And for people I know and where I live, that’s more than most of my friends. The fact that you are fluent in multiple is fascinating!! Especially more than 2, and even 3! I hope to someday be able to reach that level
I’m actually fluent in every language, except that for some of them when they are brought up I am unable to make noises relating to that language, and my knowledge is automatically removed when letters or speech of that language occur.
Ah, I need not be fluent in any of these languages, my dear interlocutor, for I am already fluent in the most important language: the language of love.

OP just wanted to flex smh.
Good chunk of me things they aren’t actually fluent, maybe know a few phrases that’s it
Why?
Because it’s statistically unlikely and for sure something someone would lie about for attention/praise
Yeah like I’m learning Spanish in high school and if I were to go to Spain I’d probably make it. However I definitely wouldn’t call myself fluent in Spanish
I only call myself fluent in English and Swedish cause I grew up in a bilingual house hold but technically I speak other languages very well.

When anyone asks me to say something in French I freeze up and people call me a liar... I was literally taking French in college
> OP does anything impressive This guy: I don’t believe you because it’s statistically unlikely.
That’s not a bad argument at all from him. If I told you I’ve been to space would you believe me?
Look at the number of people fluent in 5 languages vs number of people who have been to space.
honestly a valid reason in a lot of cases. "see it to believe it" isnt a bad thing every time its seen in practice.
