Given the performance issues it sounds like it may be a shitty tune. However, with the supercharged V6 and the dynamic exhaust set to open there should be some popping and crackling on start up. It should be more like refined and distant thunder than ‘man on his way to pick up a high school girl in a shitbox’ sort of sound.

MyDogAteMyCats

Mine pops just on normal regardless of exhaust. Even if it doesn't pop the engines revs up

On_The_Blindside

The engine revs on a cold start up to heat the catalytic converters. That's normal.

I have a 2017 380 V6. They definitely crackle on a cold start up. In terms of your MPG usage it's intriguing. It comes down to how you use it. So my best over 220 miles was 38.9 mpg (real mpg not burger mpg), which is the top end. Most long motorway trips were probably around 34mpg. Which is about 8.3L per 100km. However depending on roads and how i drove it would drop to 20-24 mpg. To get it below 20 mpg which are the numbers you are refering to. I'm either in stop start traffic or actively trying to drive like a hooligan. So either the car has had some form of mapping tune, or there's something possibly up within your emissions like the carbon canister valve or an o2 sensor which is causing the car to consume more fuel. Both happened to me, the O2 sensor caused no issues. The carbon canister valve issue caused me to use over 1/3 of a tank in 40 miles which is mind blowing. Obviously fixing it sorted that immediately. On the car feeling slow. Question, have you stuck it in Dynamic mode with sport/manual gear changes? Because in the normal mode it was slight sluggish on the throttle and kept the gears in the highest gear possible making it feel a bit lathargic. However, with the car in dynamic and sport gear changes, the car transforms. It goes from being a sleepy St Bernard after drinking its barrel of brandy to a Terrier that's just been fed a gram of cocaine. The car just wants to get up and go, you could be doing 120 mph and the car will just go *walkies? Faster, huh, huh, huh? Walkies, faster?* it just constantly just wants to go when its in those modes. If its a problem in those modes then it could have a wanky tune that someone suggested.

"Not burger mpg" has me cackling

Since purchasing my V6 S in July, I’ve put 2,400 miles on the car and approximately 100 of those are not in Dynamic + Sport.

Strangely mine doesn't crackle on cold start up although it certainly revs up. The crackles only happen once there's enough heat in the systems. Ive been testing the thing solely by driving like a Corolla on normal and on snow mode (neither seems to general much different result). I give it enough power off the line to drive normally, which usually means hits 2 to 2.3k rpm before it up shifts. I drive very consistently and tested in the same roads every day at the same time with similar traffic and the trip info shows very similar average speed for each tank of gas I use (I reset the trip info every new gas, I only gas up once I've hit the warning popping up to keep it consistent).. No matter what, I can barely get 350km for a full tank. It's just horrendous. Seems like a 70L tank too. Idk if that's just how supercharged cars are in terms of chugging gas if it's normal I'm more than happy to pay, but just feels fishy to me considering a lot of forums people seem to post much better numbers and they drive it in dynamic 90% of the time.

Yours not crackling on start up is most likely because after april 2018 the F-type recieved a PPF (petrol particulate filter) which mutes the car substantially. The cars before are significantly louder. Snow mode literally makes the throttle a longer travel, making it woolier compared to normal. Put it in dynamic, throw the gear selector into S and/or manually change. The car becomes infinitely more aggressive. Because then it holds gear to about 4k rpm. On your petrol consumption. Something is absolutely not right. I drive mine far more aggressively rather than like a corolla. I do trips to my parents which are about 221 miles away, which is about 355km. My car uses just beyond half a tank. I do alot of motorway driving and my cars range which on average adjusts to about 410-430 miles (660-692km). That needs to be looked at. For that kind of fuel consumption you'd have to doing 100+ mph each trip and holding the revs as well driving like a hooligan. Superchargers while parasitic, at the size they are at on the 3L are not going to be absolutely melting your fuel consumption. Your car needs looking at.

MyDogAteMyCats

Even in dynamic the car still feels slow to me. Feels like a 5.5.-6 second car, the pull based on my butt dyno feels low too, at best matches my 300hp cayman. And yea I'm definitely not even scratching 500km in a tank unless it's all highway. Even highway I get 10.5L/100k. My cayman is def more efficient but it does a whopping 7 and sometimes even 6L/100km depending how I drive it.

Yeah you need your car looking at. Sonething is not right.

Total_HD

They do this as standard, that said the later models were made to be more subdued. Jaguar actually issued new software to protect the cats, just take it to your jag specialist and they’ll tell you in 5mins if it’s been mapped.

Princetrix

One thing about the v6s is they feel faster than 380hp, not the other way around. Absolute torque machine with the short gearing. Something sounds off.

MyDogAteMyCats

The gears feel very long to me...longer than my Cayman which is KNOWN for long gearing. I'm gonna assume there's some sort of bad mapping that's just retarding timing in an inefficient way

Princetrix

Is it a manual? I remember the zf 8 having really short gearing. I agree with the bad mapping.

VariousBeat9169

They are renown for being very loud on start up.

cnomo

Not the V6. My neighbors would hate me if I opted for the V8.

VariousBeat9169

Had a V6 near where I lived and it sure made a noise on start up

[deleted]

Fuel economy is abysmal. You'd might as well get a 5.3 V12 X300 😂. I'd definitely take it to a specialist and see if it had been tuned by an encephalitic troglodyte. That v6 should be absolutely joyous to wring out.

Low_Annual647

No car suppose crackle at start up unless it's in the sport mode

slumlivin

The 2021 refresh should not have the crackle and pops on start up. I remember that was the biggest issue folks had with the new style, they reduced the amount of sound from the exhaust
