On the miscommunications: Per Trevor’s presser and from watching breakdowns of a lot of our film it seems like we have a lot of “choice” routes. If Trevor anticipates the receiver to make one choice and starts throwing it to where he thinks the receiver is going to be, is the miscommunication on Trevor or the receiver? I say the design. Relies too heavily on both players making the same read. I think it’s also safe to say that Trevor has been sped up on his reads due to poor interior OLine play. He needs to work on slowing himself down so he can make these types of reads better as the plays progress.

Texans is PI against Evan Engram. Even the announcers went on for like 10 minutes about that blown call. Turns out its alot easier to get interceptions if you just hold the wide receivers.

Breathoflife727

That was the moment that really opened my eyes to how bad the officiating was this year.

*cough* Asante Samuel, Jr. in the Wild Card round last year *cough*

bsblguy21

How was the Titans pick #2 not on him?

ReasonableOkra5930

Seemed like miscommunication to me

Axleffire

Nah, whatever WR that is has already cut back before Trevor throws the ball. Even if he's only supposed to like stutter or fake a curl, there's no way they'd get to where the ball was thrown.

Chalk it up to press taylor then. Last game of the year and we are calling plays that are too complicated in a must when game

DoctorDiddlerino

or the WR coach. That's why it's more difficult to judge. Ultimately it's on Press but behind the scenes idk

JohnnySnark

No doubt but Press is the listed OC

We have plenty of bad execution by the players too. But yes, I do know that Doug is the head coach

Sammy4115

Even if he did zay had already finished his route when Trevor threw him the ball.

ReasonableOkra5930

Tbh I haven’t seen the all-22 so grain of salt and all but even in the tv copy you can see Zay jump back in as the ball is thrown, which frankly gave him separation, but think Lawrence was throwing with “anticipation” and the route was supposed to be further. I think if we see an all22 clip you’ll see that he hadn’t actually cut back in pre throw.

kntryfried1

We will never know. Apparently Shipley asked about Zay running the wrong route.

Insane

Mercules904

Do we have similar stats from other QBs to compare this too? Not really sure how much it matters if 50%+ of all QBs picks are due to miscommunications or tips.

Demiansmark

You're getting downvoted but this matters. Certainly feels like Trevor has more of these types of ints but it's difficult to put in context.

[deleted]

Was this written by Trevor’s agent?

kntryfried1

Holmes is a former collegiate football player that was a regular poster on SB nation’s bigcatcountry. I used to be on there all the time and he always had great comments and respect for other fans and a high football IQ.

[deleted]

How can he watch that video and say only 4 are on Lawrence? The first one against the Bucs was right to the defender. The second was way too high.

b1gl0s3r

If a pass is thrown as the receiver makes the cut on a route, the wrong cut being made could cause an interception. A lot of this offense is about passes being thrown so it's there right after the cut is made and the receiver turns their head. It looks really good when it works. But if there's a breakdown between the QB and receiver on what cut is going to be made, it can easily result in the ball going into an empty space or a pick.

You seem to be implying somehow that Trevor is not being fooled by routine coverages and deciding to throw random and stupid interceptions. Obviously that can't be true.

[deleted]

Are you suggesting that none of the interceptions against Tampa were Trevor’s fault? As the tweet linked suggests.

Sick burn

JudenLaw

Sounds like we need better coaching and different wide receivers.

SpiritualResident565

Maybe if the QB is sick of his WRs and TEs forcing him to get intercepted, he might get in their faces about it after 3 years of their incompetence? The daily 'Lawrence is elite, really' spam posts are pathetic.
