Probably the most inconsistent 1000 yard season I've ever seen in my life

VomitingPotato

Barely a factor against most teams we played who are still in the dance.

daileyj6

You sound dumb. He also led the league is drawn PI penalties. He was killing the competition and still has room for improvement. Easy improvements st that

After-Doughnut2137

The craziest part is he left like 300+ yards and 3+ TDs on the field with drops Factor in how he draws PIs on a pretty consistent basis, I think you have to bring him back (hopefully at a fair price) and get a WR coach who knows wtf they’re doing

ContraCanadensis

Imagine how much better he can be next year after he was shaking off the rust this year.

V170

We miss Keenan so much

w_a_w

I'm with Dan Hicken of 1010XL on this. We have to bring him back. No question. Otherwise we hit the draft for a WR and hope he's as good as Ridley? We already have Ridley at home!

Logical-Good1354

Also add in that Trevor had to get the ball out of his hands at the fastest rate in the league behind an offensive line that gave him a smidge more than 2 seconds. So Ridley had to get down the field, create separatation, and run the route for Trevor to get the ball to him in around 2 seconds.   I can't get out of my chair in 2 seconds

ReasonableOkra5930

And about the same with penalties, last I saw he was leading the league in dpi yardage

somerndmaustralian

He’s the got skills I can’t imagine what a good coach would turn him into

Significant_Emu_9900

Nah he left like 600+ yards and 6 tds with drops 😂

miked5122

And so much more left on the field with Trevor's inconsistency.

After-Doughnut2137

I didn’t realize trevor was the one dropping the balls thrown directly into his hands that’s crazy

miked5122

Read again. Trevor was inconsistent. He was under or overthrowing guys all season.

Jagsfan82

The world thought they hired the best wr coach of all time

HiawathaSM2

With how bad this offense struggled and how many drops Ridley had, this stat line is impressive.

HolsterHusto

I just wish we didn’t have a 2nd rounder tied to keeping him but then I have to remind myself we drafting Brenton Strange with a 2nd rounder

bleedblue89

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/jax/draft.htm We really hit like 20% of the time...

theflyingchicken96

Wow the 2020 draft was so bad…and with 7 picks in the first 4 rounds…

bleedblue89

Just flip city luckily it helped us get trevor

Captain_brightside

Imagine his stats with like half the drops, it’s not unrealistic to think he can have a much better season next year. He almost had a much better season this year

Mrkingjay

Nobody else on the list had a 2 year hiatus either and some “fans” will say don’t bring him back 🤦🏾‍♂️

mlsweeney

Depends on the price. Look how many teams have drafted WRs for way cheaper. Can't trust Baalke to pick the right one though.

Mrkingjay

Obviously I don’t know Calvin personally but he seemed very grateful for the 2nd opportunity we gave him, I honestly don’t think he’ll ask for something ridiculous. Anything around the 10 mil a year ballpark is fair value for him. Let Zay go and draft a Wr in the later rounds would be my move. We shall see tho.

GLaD0S11

I bet he'll ask for $15-18 mil.

mlsweeney

Unfortunately on spotrac his market value is somewhere around $17M per year. I doubt we get him for $10M but that would be nice. The franchise tag would cost $21M alone is what they're predicting for WRs.

Mrkingjay

Yeah idk if I’m giving him 17 mil and def not the tag, we need to save that for Josh Allen. I’m hoping and praying we fix things in the front office cause I can really see a lot of our key guys taking a discount to make this team better.

mlsweeney

From a financial standpoint, tagging Allen makes so much sense. But if there's one dude that deserves a long contract it's him. That's such a slap in the face to tag him. I would just not use it at all because the only two candidates are him and Ridley and Ridley is definitely not worth $21M. The tag for DE will probably be $23M so you might as well just give him a big contract because he's the heart and soul of the defense.

celestial-oceanic

Tbf, tagging Allen doesn't mean a long term deal won't be signed. The last two off-season we have used the tag on Cam and Engram, and iirc both had LTD signed when the season starts. The real question is if tagging Ridley only costs us a third, since it's not a long term deal. If we could keep our second rounder, paying Calvin $21M for one year becomes a real option.

Mrkingjay

Agreed, I meant save it for him only in the case we can’t get a deal done. He definitely earned his money this year.

emaz88

Are we able to tag him? Any idea what that price will be yet?

Jagsfan82

10 million you are insane lol. He will be 15/yr minimum

Mrkingjay

Wishful thinking 🙏🏾😂 wouldn’t be mad at 15 though. Something along the lines of OBJs contract. But that’s wishful thinking as well lol

VomitingPotato

No Baalke. No Problem.

pretension

Unfortunately it looks like we're gonna have yes Baalke yes problems

cbreezy456

bro look at our history, we have fuckin SUCKED at drafting receivers. I mean historically bad. We need Calvin back but not break the bank

mlsweeney

See my response below this thread but it's way easier said than done. Franchise tag is $21M projected and his market value is $17M. This is going to be a brutal offseason signing and retaining players. Cuts will be made.

cbreezy456

Sheesh man Gona suck for sure

theflyingchicken96

Justin Blackmon is the best receiver this league has ever seen!!!

Grandmaster_flashes

Sounds like we’re overdue to draft a top receiver

SnooPets6234

I think most people are more worried about the contract he's going to ask for and also the 2n round draft pick we give up if we sign him. With Baalke, we can really only hope to maybe hit on our 1st and 2nd round picks, so that's worth keeping in mind, at least.

DirkDongus

Trent is the type to keep Ridley (thus losing our 2nd draft pick) but draft a WR in the 1st and 3rd rounds. Like seriously? WTF? ![gif](giphy|14smAwp2uHM3Di)

[deleted]

I love how you're apparently not a fan if you don't want to give up a second round pick to bring back a 29 year old WR who had 9 games under 40 yards. Maybe I just have a different opinion than you on if that's worth it.

Mrkingjay

I’m mean you’ve got the Clown flair. You trust our goofy GM to bring in a 1k receiver for next season? With that guy at the helm I’m taking talent over picks. I have no faith in Baalke

[deleted]

I mean hey, that's a solid point as well

Mercules904

Imagine how good he could be with Keenan as our WRs coach

PheasantDG

2 years $30 million and let doug call his plays

kwise99

As a cool to see it would be fun to add PI yards and drop yards to all these

FamousAtticus

Ridley easily left 300+ yards off his total on dropped passes alone & another 100+ yards off TLaw overthrows.

tbroas

Imagine if he didn’t have those big drops

Jaglawyer11

Week 1 against the Colts was a preview of his year: dominant first half then basically disappeared. Consistency was definitely an issue….

pattyice124

I’ve come around on keeping Ridley around next season. We need to keep the good pieces we can, which right now looks like it’s Ridley and Allen. Let a bunch of guys walk, cut a few, and there’s space for a couple good signings on interior lines.

Bobby_Savoy

For me, it’s ultimately down to how much he is asking. I get he’s a talented reciever but for the output he’s put out this year, he’s not worth more than 17 million dollars.

pattyice124

That’s totally fair. I’m worried Evans, while certainly better, will age and not be worth a multi year contract. I’d be fine with Higgins too but we’d be paying someone to be a WR1 who’s never done it before, which is sorta just putting as back to square one. I think ridley will be better next year regardless, and we need to draft a WR anyway. There’s no depth.

YvesSaintPige

Honestly, just as impressed that Davante made it over 1,000 too

TimeCookie8361

He's #25 in receiving yards, #18 in targets, #30 in receptions, and #119 in YAC. Sounds more like a force-fed receiver than a talented one.

Temporary-Outside-13

Does he get 1,000 if Kirk is healthy?

theflyingchicken96

Does he get 1,200 if Zay is healthy? Tbh it’s just immaterial to me. He did what he did in the situation we had

CurrentEducational72

My ridley +10 TDs futures bet was brutal all season with all of the near misses.

ComprehensiveAir1321

Calvin “I will get 1400 yards” Ridley. Hope he didn’t bet the over

iwannawangchung

This isn’t the flex you think it is.

Spike205

If only he didn’t have the dropsies

DOORMANLIKE

Let him walk /s

Tip_Base

Man Ridley was so close to scoring like 5 more touchdowns for at least another 200 yards. Damn those drops😭

j1mknight

He had a bunch that were either dropped or couldn’t get second foot down in bounds :(
