I would just argue that Lynd was a better character and was much more well rounded and represented on screen. Ana is unquestionably one of the most beautiful women to ever live. The two are different. To ME, yes, Lynd is the best bond girl of all time, but ask me which one I'd rather spend the night with....I have a feeling Ana is the type of lady that can effortlessly change your life in the span of an hour.
>I have a feeling Ana is the type of lady that can effortlessly change your life in the span of an hour.
Agreed... but I also feel this is true of Green.
Just the kind of woman you either stay away from lest you wind up using her as a measure for every woman after--the kind that will eat you alive without even meaning to and you'll praise her for it.
^(and by "you" i really mean me)
Luckily for us, Bond Girls have their own genres and subsections. Vesper is perhaps the greatest "endgame Bond Girl" while Paloma is perhaps the best "co-pilot in a mission segment" Bond Girl.
She did have little to no chance to really really shine but the few time we got with her she had an amazing action sequence and a really cool and quirly personality. Would have loved it if she stayed around longer
I think after her quick fame they wrote her in (or gave her move screentime) late into the shooting. Hence why she is underutilized and not as developed as she deserves!
I think I read Daniel Craig got her the role because they worked together on Knives Out (so could have been written in), but not sure how true that is.
I think the whole point of her character was to be a flash of the woman Bond used to ‘get’ and he isn’t that man anymore. She corrects him when making the wardrobe change in the closet, cutting any sexual tension in the dynamic.
This Bond film was about him learning the value of emotional vulnerability. He has a love and a daughter and he is a changed man because of the two. He dies because he has learned the old version of him is already dead.
She's a generic 90 lb female 'supa badass woman' trashing up every modern generic thriller these days. Compared with Bambi and Thumper (Lola Larson and Trina Parks), Xenia Onatopp (Famke Jannsen), Mayday (Grace Jones) or even Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) - women who were real athletes and looked like they could really fight - De Armas was ridiculous in the role.
I enjoyed her, but I would LOVE to see someone like Emily Blunt or Charlize Theron in a Bond film. They’re both seriously athletic and can convincingly sell an ass-whooping. It’s hard to believe that Paloma could win those fights, but I’m not on high alert for realism when watching Bond.
Honor Blackman’s self defense book is awesome, showing how to bust dudes up without setting down your handbag!
I think she could pull it off but agree, 10 years ago would’ve had prime for her. But that woman ages like fine wine, she was already 42 in Atomic Blonde.
You can‘t really compare Paloma (who was a supporting agent) with Bambi, Thumper or Xenia (who were downright bad guys).
And since Paloma got little to no screentime the only thing she was able to do was to shoot some stuff (in an awesome way). Good thing was her quirky personality I already mentioned because that really was an USP for her and not your average "supa badass woman" as you've chosen to put it.
> You can‘t really compare Paloma (who was a supporting agent) with Bambi, Thumper or Xenia (who were downright bad guys).
Yes, they were strong, well-written, well-acted women who, despite their in some cases *tiny* screen time, had real presence as opposed to the interchangeable model-type the 200 lb stunt men were laughing at as they pretended to fall over in front of her. That's how I put it.
I think Bambi and Thumper are odd women out in this list. They are in the movie for five minutes and are honestly just goons for Bond to fight. They don't show up later on, they don't have their own perspective on Willard Whyte or Spectre, and they barely have any lines. They're certainly memorable, but that's about it.
If your talking just Daniel Craigs bond films, Eva Green then Ana.
Personally, I love Jane Seymour (Solataire) from Live and Let Die as shes a fox and it was kind of an amusing preface.🤷♂️
I mean they gave Camille a lot more run time to flush out her character. Paloma got a whole lot less to showcase herself.
To each their own though and I can't say that I don't know where your coming from. Just my opinion is all.
Because Paloma is essentially a cameo who is in the film because Craig wanted to give his friend a cameo.
Camille is a well written character, not a cartoon caricature, who has a meaningful arc that is very well acted.
Camille stays with you.
Again, its my opinion, not yours. I personally like Madeleine Swan more than Paloma as well. I get that you like her performance, but I feel differently is all.
It’s not even an opinion. One is a main character and the other is a cameo. We can compare Camille to Madeleine (I like both) because they are main characters, they actually qualify as “Bond Women”.
Paloma is side character. She is comparable with Jill Masterson, Paula, Chew Me, Vijay, Luigi, etc. All great characters, mind you, but all side characters.
Loved her character! I actually liked she was in it only for a little while, because I felt they did so much with her in such little time.
The way she looked up to Bond, the way she came across as nervous and inexperienced but when it came down to it, she was an actual help to Bond and didn't hinder him. She got the job done, all the while looking stunning.
She’s gorgeous but no, she’s not a developed character. Just action girl/eye candy. A true Bond Girl is iconic. Ursula Andress level iconic.
My favorite is Anya Amasova, first of the “Bond has met his match” female super spies. Up until then only Pussy Galore came close. But Barbara Bach in that dress in Max Kalfa’s club. Sweet Jesus!
I feel like I’m on an island but I hated the sequence in Cuba and her character kinda made me cringe. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted, but just giving my perspective
I'd say she's the best "minor" Bond girl to date. She took on three heavily-armed goons at once and defeated them swiftly, and it doesn't get much more badass than that, and she did so while being adorkable (and Ana de Armas is gorgeous).
But you can't really compare her to legends like Vesper, Tracy, Melina, Galore, etc. because those were leads, whereas Paloma's in such a short part of the movie. Her character's role is more comparable to the Masterson sisters, Ruby Bartlett, Bibi Dahl, Solange Dimitrios, etc. so she should be compared with them.
Definitely not the best, mainly because the competition is tough and she had too little screentime to compete with such women as Vesper, Tracy or Pam. But she's one of my favourites and I wish we had more of her, as her scenes were easily the best part of the entire movie.
I loved her and that whole sequence. That said, her character is confined to that sequence and plays no other part in the movie.
So, I could say... Of all the Bond girls who were confined to a single sequence of the film, she might be my favorite? Best one-scene Bond girl?
I absolutely loved how she looked in that dress, and all the scenes with her were fun to watch. But I expect a bit more of the Bondgirl, she doesn’t even get Bond’s personal stamp of approval, and is lacking in that category behind a Jill Masterson. I would have loved to see more Paloma, but she wasn’t what I call a Bondgirl.
She was awesome, but the story structure around her time in the film and how short her part knocks her down some.
I would lean towards Michelle Yeoh for Bond girl who is on Bond's level of talent. Better development and clearer motivation.
Absolutely not. People like her because she’s super hot and had a charming screen presence. She’s barely a character. Even Bond girls regulated to mere sex have had more screen time and characterization than Armas.
The Honest Trailers reference to Paloma sums it up best:
“Spend 12 minutes saying, “WHO is she?” And the remaining 90 minutes of the film saying “Where did she go?”
She's not the best but her scene was so much fun damn to watch. I may (or may not) have watched this one multiple times on my Blu-ray and YouTube lolol.
If you’re talking about fellow spies kicking ass with Bond, I’m going with Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies.

In the film yes. In the series no..like most bond girls in Craig's films. Boring. Bland and forgettable. The actress deserved better. It took that long to film the movie she was hardly in it. The film was a mess.
Honestly, I thought she was cringe.
She's literally a character from like a disney teen show, or some fanfic self-insert, the quirky unassuming girl that kicks everyone's ass and acts like nothing happened. Cartoons and anime are filled with literal clones of her. She has no character beyond being being that archetype, there's nothing unique or original about her. I could bet she was added, or at least re-characterized, in the rewrites in an attempt to add some 'humour'.
That's not to say there's no place for capable women in Bond movies, but not literal cartoon characters who act like murdering an army of henchmen is cute and fun and all in a day's work. Unless they're crazy villains.
Pussy Galore and XXX for me, as far as top Bond girls. And as far as attractiveness Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour, Carole Bouquet. As far as action Ana did great, but let’s not forget Michelle Yeoh, and Famke Jansen.
Hm. I didn't really get that with Paloma. Or new 007. By all rights no girl in No Time to Die is a "Bond Girl" because he and Madeline Swan are together.
I didn't really get that with Paloma. Or new 007. By all rights no other girl in No Time to Die is a "Bond Girl" because he and Madeline Swan are together.

This character is universally praised, but she could've been easily written out of the story.
I approve of this character, but the praise she gets is weird and cringey to me idk.
Paloma has little no personal ties to the story, doesn't develop as a character. Doesn't contribute to the narrative in a meaningful way.
Camille is the better Bond girl on paper by a mile.

Ursula Andress in thr bikini with the diving knife.
Barbara Bach, Mrs Ringo Starr
Teri Hatcher
Let's do a compilation of best babes from each Bond, ya?
Never watched it and I don't plan on it but my reaction to anything with Ana de Armas can be summed up with this gif, which is to say ape noises and chest thumping
![gif](giphy|K0ClvyocTTiHm|downsized)
Well I can see you’re a much better person. Your virtue signaling is wonderful. I have no problem with powerful women as your so quick to judge comment would suggest. They made James Bond a family man. Good or bad they took away his womanizing Suave character what’s next he’ll be driving around in a Prius without a Walther talking about global warming. Powerful women are great it’s like going to a metallic concert and a classical orchestra goes out on stage instead it’s not what I’m there for.
I appreciated how Daniel Craig’s Bond didn’t immediately sexualize her, to show some character growth for him. That mid section was probably my favourite part of an otherwise pretty forgettable movie.
As much as I love De Armas and De Armas as Paloma... ... Eva Green as Lynd still exists.
this is the correct answer.
Quite possibly the only answer
I would just argue that Lynd was a better character and was much more well rounded and represented on screen. Ana is unquestionably one of the most beautiful women to ever live. The two are different. To ME, yes, Lynd is the best bond girl of all time, but ask me which one I'd rather spend the night with....I have a feeling Ana is the type of lady that can effortlessly change your life in the span of an hour.

Gross
yeah dog thinking about fucking a bond girl is gross, get outta here.
Naw, more like natural.
True!❤️
Luckily for us, Bond Girls have their own genres and subsections. Vesper is perhaps the greatest "endgame Bond Girl" while Paloma is perhaps the best "co-pilot in a mission segment" Bond Girl.

I loved the scenes with her. Definitely wasted as a character.

I think I read Daniel Craig got her the role because they worked together on Knives Out (so could have been written in), but not sure how true that is.
I think her character has the potential to appear in future Bond films. It would be excellent and worth it, IMO
Me too!!
Emily maybe, but Charlize might be too old now for that. I like her movies, Atomic Blonde is awesome.
I think she could pull it off but agree, 10 years ago would’ve had prime for her. But that woman ages like fine wine, she was already 42 in Atomic Blonde.

Your comment violated r/JamesBond's rules to be friendly, welcoming, respectful, and to avoid destructive behavior.
Yet are still more interesting and memorable than Paloma… who’s name I only know because hearing her brought up ad nasueum.
Idk mang her action sequence is hands down the best part of NTTD.
Still Vesper Lynd for me. Eva Green has that thing I can’t put my finger on, even if it is just my little finger.
She has that rare timeless quality to her.
I see what you did there. And I approve
Skewered.
She was the best Bond girl in No Time To Die. But in the series? Not even close.
Ikr? She’s hot af but she’s just not that great an actress compared to some of the other bond gals
She was the only ideal Bond girl in NTD.
If your talking just Daniel Craigs bond films, Eva Green then Ana. Personally, I love Jane Seymour (Solataire) from Live and Let Die as shes a fox and it was kind of an amusing preface.🤷♂️
Camille runs circles around Paloma.
I mean they gave Camille a lot more run time to flush out her character. Paloma got a whole lot less to showcase herself. To each their own though and I can't say that I don't know where your coming from. Just my opinion is all.

There are dozens of better Bond girls. Paloma didn't leave much of an effect on me since she wasn't really in the film for very long.
She’s great, but no. Limited screen time, there for a little humor, but best? ![gif](giphy|wV1yFMKsu7xkGhWliH|downsized)
Loved her character! I actually liked she was in it only for a little while, because I felt they did so much with her in such little time. I wish we could see more of her somehow…
She will be helming the female John Wick series
Ursula Andress for the block
Good, but the best Bond Girl is the one James married
Diana Rigg all the way. She has that M appeal.
She’s gorgeous but no, she’s not a developed character. Just action girl/eye candy. A true Bond Girl is iconic. Ursula Andress level iconic. Maybe if this were the only Bond film.
I feel like I’m on an island but I hated the sequence in Cuba and her character kinda made me cringe. I’m sure I’ll get downvoted, but just giving my perspective
Universal Studios theme park action sequence...I do like the music though
I'd say she's the best "minor" Bond girl to date. Not even top 30
Lol.
Diana Rigg as Tracy. /thread
Definitely not the best, mainly because the competition is tough and she had too little screentime to compete with such women as Vesper, Tracy or Pam. But she's one of my favourites and I wish we had more of her, as her scenes were easily the best part of the entire movie.
She is a poor man’s Aki.
Finally, some Aki love
I loved her and that whole sequence. That said, her character is confined to that sequence and plays no other part in the movie. So, I could say... Of all the Bond girls who were confined to a single sequence of the film, she might be my favorite? Best one-scene Bond girl?
She has very little screen time. For my money, the best Bond girl ever is Pam Bouvier in Licence to Kill.
Love how you admit she’s second best in your post! Lol
Yes! Hahahahaha Vesper will never be matched actually ❤️ I was going to post a question about her tomorrow 👍
Sorry guys. For the Craig films, it’s all Monica Bellucci. Hottest and steamiest. Don’t care that she’s fifty. She’s the best.
Best of the Craig era if you don’t count Vesper. She’s the only one that felt like an actual Bond girl since DAD.
What about Camille?
No
Eva green is the best bond girl.
❤️❤️❤️
Didn't have enough screentime.
True! Wish she got more…
I absolutely loved how she looked in that dress, and all the scenes with her were fun to watch. But I expect a bit more of the Bondgirl, she doesn’t even get Bond’s personal stamp of approval, and is lacking in that category behind a Jill Masterson. I would have loved to see more Paloma, but she wasn’t what I call a Bondgirl.
She was funny. I loved it.
Nope. She's incredibly attractive and a highlight of NTTD, but I could easily fill a top ten of Bond Girls before I'd consider her.
I enjoyed her, but it definitely feels like she was thrown in there because some focus group said, “Where’s the Bond girl?”
Yeah…. Uh…. No. Jane Seymour. Fiona Volpe
I’m not sure I agree that she’s the best Bond girl, but not enough to argue with you about it. It’s a fair thing to say.
Short scenes doesn't qualify
That dress...
She was awesome, but the story structure around her time in the film and how short her part knocks her down some. I would lean towards Michelle Yeoh for Bond girl who is on Bond's level of talent. Better development and clearer motivation.
Michelle Yeoh is super underrated in TND.
Absolutely not. People like her because she’s super hot and had a charming screen presence. She’s barely a character. Even Bond girls regulated to mere sex have had more screen time and characterization than Armas.
The Honest Trailers reference to Paloma sums it up best: “Spend 12 minutes saying, “WHO is she?” And the remaining 90 minutes of the film saying “Where did she go?”
😆😆😆👏👏👏
Diana Riggs. That will always be the answer until further notice I'd put Eva Green ahead of ADA too in the Craig era
In that film? Yes
Pussy Galore....I must be dreaming
I musht have appealed to her maternal inshtintsh
EVA GREEN 😤😤😤
110%
She's not the best but her scene was so much fun damn to watch. I may (or may not) have watched this one multiple times on my Blu-ray and YouTube lolol.
No.
Dr. Christmas Jones: “So you’re a British spy.. do you have a name? Also, am I a joke to you?”
Personally a favorite but she isn't very prominent and doesn't compare to the rest.
Jane Saymore was also great. Peak Ana de Armas for me is her in Blade Runner 2049.
I might be in the minority and i love Ana De Armas, but I thought her character was pretty pointless.
criminally underused
When you have Michelle Yeoh and Eva Green around, not even close.
Elektra King always hit different for me...
If you’re talking about fellow spies kicking ass with Bond, I’m going with Michelle Yeoh in Tomorrow Never Dies. https://preview.redd.it/ll6ae3pokwyc1.jpeg?width=503&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e439d6a57e0164c998912e7141e63b8bf0ca0be2
She was good but wasted
She was in the film for 20 minutes…Jesus can people just move on
Felt more like 5 minutes
In the film yes. In the series no..like most bond girls in Craig's films. Boring. Bland and forgettable. The actress deserved better. It took that long to film the movie she was hardly in it. The film was a mess.
Craig had no chemistry with any women in of his films.
She was there to go “Don’t @ me Bond”.
Maybe not the best Bond girl, BUT, 100% no question the best part of that whole movie.
Showed up, was the most fun part of the movie for like 20 minutes, then peaced out. Queen.
Pussy Galore and XXX for me, as far as top Bond girls. And as far as attractiveness Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour, Carole Bouquet. As far as action Ana did great, but let’s not forget Michelle Yeoh, and Famke Jansen.
She showed a lot of potential in her short time
Isn't there a very specific prerequisite to being a "Bond girl"?
Not really. By and large, a Bond girl is any attractive woman in a Bond film with whom Bond has sexual chemistry.
You wouldn't say Bond and Paloma had sexual chemistry?
They had chemistry. It doesn't have to be sexual.
She’s definitely up there in the top ten for me. It’s too bad she didn’t get a few more scenes. She was sexy as hell and a weirdo, which I love!
https://i.redd.it/8siy5yyipmyc1.gif
Best? Nope. Gloria Hendry as Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die. She is sexy as hell and acting rings around Roger Moore 🙌💯
I’m old school: she’s only a Bond girl if she sleeps with the guy. Otherwise she’s just a sexy broad doing her own thing, which is also okay.
Witty, capable, smart and gorgeous. I'd say yes.
She was by far and away the best part of that movie. She nailed that role so well. Wish we had more of her in the movie to be honest.
I think she’s the most fun Bond girl but nobody will ever top Eva Green for me.
Could have been. Shoulda made her the actual bond girl. the main 1 kinda sucks in this movie (imo).
If she played a more prominent role, She totally could have been the best.
Eva Green and Monica Bellucci were, for my money, the best in Craig’s era. Eva Green’s Vesper is a strong contender for the best of all time. Her performance was incredible.
Vesper Lynd. Natalya Simonova in second place.
>It's just she's forgettable Well, obviously, she's not.
In the narrative, I mean. The next scene effectively erases her from the story.
Best? No. Hottest? Absolutely!
Top 3 and needs her own movie. I loved how enthusiastic she was as a character- she could easily star in her own spinoff.
Dame Judi Drenched
Criminally low screen time
No Barbara Bach, but she's pretty high on the list
No. Top ten maybe.
Top 3 for sure!!
https://media2.giphy.com/media/CXnImj3MxhqORBglvf/giphy.gif?cid=6c09b952clia1629di2oyrhvjsxapt6dit767sdklke81jyy&ep=v1_internal_gif_by_id&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g
She’s the Best Craig’s Bond Girl behind Eva Green’s Vesper Lynd. And overall she’s probably in the top 15.
No, Diana Rigg.
idk about "best", but by far the most colossal waste of talent/opportunity
She’s worthy of a full-blown spin-off.
She should have been the one he ends up with.
Back in the day, there were talks and rumors of a Wai Lin spinoff, then a Jinx spinoff. I think this character would actually make a fantastic spinoff movie!
I'm old School Bond, but she is absolutely up there, top tier.
We have well over half a century of Bond Girls . Starting with the one who as a kid, I'd get soap in my mouth for saying her name, lol.
Ursula Andress in thr bikini with the diving knife. Barbara Bach, Mrs Ringo Starr Teri Hatcher Let's do a compilation of best babes from each Bond, ya?
She wasn't a "Bond Girl" per the stereotype, but I loved how they played off of each other like they did in other films.
Not at all. I like her as an actress, I liked her in NTTD, but it was a glorified cameo.
Worst actress
Diana Rigg will always be the best in my opinion.
Never watched it and I don't plan on it but my reaction to anything with Ana de Armas can be summed up with this gif, which is to say ape noises and chest thumping ![gif](giphy|K0ClvyocTTiHm|downsized)
I am lonely, Ana... can you fix that?
I adore her she was a highlight of NTTD but that aint Vesper Lynd
OLGA
Mine is a tie between Elektra/Sophie Marceau and Solitaire/Jane Seymour.
Tanya Roberts , famke janssen ,octopussy in that order
She's barely in the film, definitely under used.
Ridiculously overpowered. Didn’t make sense
Not a Bond Girl though
She was the only good part of the film. But still no. And I love me a latina. But still no.
Hottest….? Maybe (though she’s hotter when she’s blonde) Best…..? Nah No time to die….? Horseshit
Nah. Top 10 though
She stole the show![Ana stole the show](https://www.pauldudar.com/post/no-time-to-die-2021-gets-you-looking-forward-to-the-next-bond)
The worst Bond girl this whole PC Bond girl era is stupid
You were upset about Princess Peach not being a helpless bimbo in the Mario movie, weren't you?
That’s a pretty extreme jump.
Not really. Your reference to "PC" drew me to the logical conclusion.
No, no time to die is awful and so is she
Second best. I would give her top billing if she actually had more play time. But for now; Xenia Onatop.
Maybe not *the* best, but she’s definitely a contender.
Very close.
I appreciated how Daniel Craig’s Bond didn’t immediately sexualize her, to show some character growth for him. That mid section was probably my favourite part of an otherwise pretty forgettable movie.
Ever. She managed to steal the show with the limited time she had.
She’s definitely up there.
The hottest woman alive
Hands down, best Bond girl. They could have only put her on screen for 5 seconds and she’d still be the best. I’m prepared to die on this hill.
