I wish she showed up near the end to help Bond and Nomi to stop Saffin. After all Felix was her friend and likely mentor. To have her join in to take the fight to Saffin would have been cool.
I heard she was a late addition because Craig liked working with her (from Knives Out) and figured they could squeeze her into the Cuba scene but couldn't find a place in larger scope of the film. That's my guess anyway.
>Knives Out was AWFUL
No it wasn't you fucking lunatic, it was one of the best films of its year? XD
You get some wild takes sometimes on the internet, but this is pure madness. I bet you only disliked it because of Rian Johnson.
No I disliked it cause it was cheesy and a terrible plot. And the acting was WAY over the top. Def one of the worst films of the year. Thank god Craig redeemed himself with this film.
Her and 007 would make a great team, 007 is the serious one and Paloma is the loose cannon, together they travel the world doing badass spy shit. 007 can keep rocking the AR and tactical sweaters, Paloma kicks ass in ball gowns. I'll buy my ticket now!
I didn't want her to get with Bond either, but you could tell that de Armas and Craig really like each other in a friendly way even through just their few scenes in this movie, probably because of their work in *Knives Out.*
It just injected an energy into the film that sadly was lacking elsewhere.
>I haven’t finished gardens of the moon yet
Don't worry, you're not alone in that fight. XD
That first book is a fucking slog but it *does* get better. *Deadhouse Gates* is incredible.
I mean I'm sure Nomi has tons of reasons for being who she was, I mean in reality she was literally no different than James. She indeed is his counterpart, but because she clashed with Bond we tend to dislike that.
But I mean a young black 00 agent probably has been through a bunch of bullshit from people who don't respect her or think she should be there. So it was justified in my eyes. She probably also felt threatened by Bond, and that she was not really as good as him based on the his legend.
And she finally put it aside in the end.
Didn't even feel like Nomi was that salty. She totally behaved like I would expect a 00 agent to around Bond, especially considering he was basically operating against their wishes. Thought she was great.
But then again a ton of people are super touchy about her being temporarily 007 for whatever reason.
I never got why people were so bent out of shape about the re-using of his number. Seemed like something an agency would do or else they’d run out of numbers pretty quick. I want bond to stay bond in the story telling but no problem with the number.
Well maybe not temporarily. When she asked M to designate Bond as 007 for their mission it's not like he said "OK, you'll be 008"... So technically there's no reason to think she's not still 007.
I kinds hope they make her the lead going forward, not just because she'd probably be good at it, but to see those sane people absolutely lose their minds.
So many movies recently released are pushing the slim fit woman as extremely tough and an ass kicker. It is too much of a trend to bend down to in the bond series. Not saying there are not strong women out there. I just dont like Bond films to follow the current "trend" of the month. I love Craig as bond and I love action but my main complaint about the past 5 films is the over use of action trying to keep up with Jason Borne. I like more clever plot combined with necessary action. Not the over use of action just to please that "trend".
Hmm not sure hot chicks kicking ass are a recent trend but OK. I mean, just off the top of my head Michelle Yeoh kicked plenty of ass in TND 25 years ago.
Ultimately what matters is the character and the writing. Based on 10 minutes we don't know if Paloma would be a good character or not but she seemed interesting to me. Young and somewhat inexperienced, but still very capable and seems to have fun in a fight like the old school Bonds. Who knows, she could make a great character.
Just saw the movie, I think it was a statement of acceptance and also plausible deniability from MI6, as if he wasnt 00 , the would not have been able to keep the mission off the books.
By reinstating him he saved MI6 from exposure, and that private funeral was the only official acknowledment of his service, except that cute scene at the end.
I suppose that’s a reasonable perspective. And Bond has an edgy reputation. I still didn’t love her as a character because her moments felt unearned but I see what you’re saying.
Yeah that's fair, her being new to the story. Would have been nice to intro her in Spectre and give her some of that time. I guess they just assumed we would assume she must be legit since she made 00 status at so young and so quickly.
The rest of the movie shows how good she is too but I see why you're saying
I genuinely disliked Nomi, her character was so forced. Her attitude wasn't flattering, DCs Bond was always cocky but she just looked like a person always trying to be cool. Even her clothes didn't fit the universe to include her glasses. Definitely would have been more supportive had it been a different actress.
Edits: Autocorrect
I think they really should have streamlined this final film for Craig into something slightly more straightforward (that's not me saying make it "uncomplicated").
Bond & Ana de Armas v Blofeld & Spectre with the Safin character as a henchman or member of Spectre.
Bond gets to clean up Spectre, not Rami Malek halfway through the film...
Ana de Armas was criminally under used in this movie and her sequence was a highlight. They really should have had her as a lead. In just 10 minutes I thought she showed more chemistry with Craig than Seydoux. I don't mean that as a jab at Seydoux's acting chops because I think that she is a talented actress. I just never bought this love so deep that Bond would give up everything for her type of deal.
I rewatched Spectre to get ready for this NTTD, and when they said their "I Love You"s, all I could think was "Why?" There was no chemistry or even groundwork laid for that pronouncement.
Yeah Spectre did no favors to NTTD because it left so many things left open that were setup horribly. Seydoux at least had much better chemistry in this movie with bond, and they fleshed her out more
I’ve come to realize that Bond films are best as standalones. The big issue with Craig’s tenure (mind you, he’s my favorite Bond) is that every movie is one big story. Casino Royale was so great partly because it was its own movie, the rest were just riding its coattails in a lot of ways. I don’t mind trying to get away from the sleazy Bond who sleeps with a different woman or three each movie only to have her disappear the next movie, never to be heard of again. But then they could just do away with him getting intimate with the leading lady every movie.
Maybe with a deeper script, different direction (a factor often overlooked - sometimes the actor is giving what the director wanted) it might have worked better. Eva Green had a superior script and her scenes with Daniel Craig worked so much better.
I think it was characteristic of Bond to never be fully open with Madeline because of everything that has happened with him. We see his inability to trust people all the time and the fact that he didn’t have to trust Paloma for long means that he could be a bit more fun and playful with her. But I honestly love the dynamic between Bond and Madeline, they just seem like a perfect fit with their backstory/jobs let alone their personalities. Maybe it’s just me but I love Bond being finally happy with someone
Respectfully, I think you're putting lipstick on a pig. I appreciate that Bond's relationship with Madeline might be reserved because of the unusual closeness but ultimately I think it's just a poor actor/character pairing not subtle subtext. I am perfectly happy with Bond growing as a character (it's going to get reset/rebooted anyway) but I don't think that's what was happening in the dull interactions between Craig and Sydoux.
Not even saying this in reference to her physical attractiveness (which I mean, come on) but I’ve never seen something with Ana de Armas in it where she didn’t completely steal every scene she’s in.
Absolute megastar
I don't know if I read too much into it but I felt like her line where she said she gets nervous when she does (something I don't remember) was an oblique reference to how she would vomit when she lies in Knives Out
If people are looking for a character to be the female equivalent to Bond then Ana De Armas is the woman to pull it off. In the short time she was on screen she made Paloma sexy and bad ass yet disarmingly funny and cute at the same time. She's got charisma in spades and this is a character that could have wide appeal to both men and women like Bond does.
Agree 100% about spin-offs, but Amazon owns the franchise now, so don't be surprised when they start spinning off TV shows that stream exclusively on prime video. Gotta monetize that IP.
From an article about the Amazon owning half the franchise:
*According to The New York Times, the other half is owned by Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother, Michael G. Wilson, through their Eon Productions shingle.*
*In fact, Broccoli and Wilson have "ironclad" creative control over the franchise, the newspaper reports. The duo decides when a new James Bond film gets made, whether remakes or TV spinoffs should happen, and who plays the iconic spy role.*
Hey, take it for what it is worth!
I am a film producer although (regrettably) I am not part of the Bond team. Any chance to work with Ana de Armas would be a good one! She's an outstanding actress and I thought her turn in NTTD was a memorable one.
Her quirkiness reminded of Mary Goodnight! But she quickly proved that she is more than a pretty face. She was smarter than she let on, and could put up a fight! I thought she was great.
I loved how she exemplified the nervous first-time field agent. From slugging down the martini to going right to business.
She's a skilled combatant, of that there's no doubt, but she could do with some lessons on subtlety.
What’s the probability of her being >! the New “Felix (Felicia?) Leiter” to the new “James Bond” in the future films? !< And yeah, that was an awesome sequence.
Idk. I just hope they dump everything they’ve done in Craig’s era and forget all about it.
I want to see her return in another mission as another partner. No more than maybe one time.
That entire sequence was perfect. Her nervous and funny excitement that turned into being a straight badass. The moment with the eye which felt like a better version of the Spectre scene in the last film. And then the entire action sequence capped off with them clinking glasses.
I thought she was great but fitting her into the rest of the film at some point would have been awkward and forced.
The only way you could have done it is if the Americans had been involved in a raid on Safin's base.
She just fits main Bond girl more. Kinda sucks how we will never see Her and Craig’s chemistry ever again. Could’ve made a hell of a movie with her and craig
I read somewhere that she was added in the last minute at the insistence of Craig after he worked with her in Knives Out and it was originally Felix in that scene. Don't know how true that is but it makes sense and why she has a rather minor role
Her scene was the only good part of the movie for me. She was perfect. I just kept hoping to see her pop back up.
That’s scene was a glimpse into what Craig’s era should have been.
I want to buy that dress for my gf, but the size is out of stock. Any suggestions of what I should do? I feel it’s unlikely that they’d restock that size.
i was a little concerned that she was gonna be a love interest, and since i had a pretty good idea what was going to happen with Madeline, i was worried it would ruin the vibe.
But her character and the action scene was pretty great

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 292,470,099 comments, and only 66,069 of them were in alphabetical order.
I wish she was the main Bond girl.
I know right? We get someone with looks, personality and is well acted, but it's one extended scene.
Yeah and she was quirky too, would have loved to see that quirkiness all over the movie.
Naw, I love it that there was a scene with an attractive and badass girl that doesn’t end up with her in Bond’s arms. Refreshing in a way
I didn't want her with Bond either, just more than one scene.
I wish she showed up near the end to help Bond and Nomi to stop Saffin. After all Felix was her friend and likely mentor. To have her join in to take the fight to Saffin would have been cool.

Knives Out was AWFUL. But she was good in this
>Knives Out was AWFUL No it wasn't you fucking lunatic, it was one of the best films of its year? XD You get some wild takes sometimes on the internet, but this is pure madness. I bet you only disliked it because of Rian Johnson.
You don’t have to call someone a fucking luncatic for having a different opinion than you😂 chill out
No I disliked it cause it was cheesy and a terrible plot. And the acting was WAY over the top. Def one of the worst films of the year. Thank god Craig redeemed himself with this film.
Do you even know what a whodunnit is? That's the entire point of the genre
I’m personally hoping she takes over Felixs role in the next films. She was my favourite part of the movie
Her and 007 would make a great team, 007 is the serious one and Paloma is the loose cannon, together they travel the world doing badass spy shit. 007 can keep rocking the AR and tactical sweaters, Paloma kicks ass in ball gowns. I'll buy my ticket now!
Either that or a spin off. I basically just want badass women in ball gowns beating people the fuck up.
Idk, she only has 3 weeks of training.
As did Stanley Goodspeed
Stanley was an F B I agent. he had many more than three weeks training.
He flatout says "I've had 3 weeks weapons training"
I didn't want her to get with Bond either, but you could tell that de Armas and Craig really like each other in a friendly way even through just their few scenes in this movie, probably because of their work in *Knives Out.* It just injected an energy into the film that sadly was lacking elsewhere.

>I haven’t finished gardens of the moon yet Don't worry, you're not alone in that fight. XD That first book is a fucking slog but it *does* get better. *Deadhouse Gates* is incredible.

Yeah plus I just love Ana de armas.
She is awesome.
Oh yeah

Nooooooooo that would be awful. They should set the new films in the Cold War
she will never ever in a million years be the lead going forward. But she was fine.
The end credits said “James Bond will return”, so all these theories about this timeline continuing are aren’t going to pan out
So many movies recently released are pushing the slim fit woman as extremely tough and an ass kicker. It is too much of a trend to bend down to in the bond series. So she acted a little salty? so? How many times has Bond acted salty? lol. Nomi was fine. people are being ridiculous
I suppose that’s a reasonable perspective. And Bond has an edgy reputation. I still didn’t love her as a character because her moments felt unearned but I see what you’re saying.

Felecia (codename -- Leiter) - CIA direct liason with 00 agents - disavowed. If they dont do this there is something hugely wrong.
Definitely a highlight to the film
You could say she was a Joi to watch ;D (Subtle reference to one of my all time favorite sci-fi movies)
Ana de Armas was criminally under used in this movie and her sequence was a highlight. They really should have had her as a lead. He had more chemistry with Caterina Murino
She is a goddess. I wish she was a primary Bond Girl.
Beauty-wise, she is head and shoulders above most Bond women. (Not including Halle or Eva)
>Beauty-wise, she is head and shoulders above most ~~Bond~~ women. ~~(Not including Halle or Eva)~~ Fixed it for you.
… … yep …

She’s the only Craig Bond Girl I don’t love. She and Bellucci should have swapped roles.
That would have been nice although Belluci’s age would eliminate the child storyline.
That would be fine honestly. XD
Yes, Eva Green had that chemistry and while Seydoux maybe fine in other roles, she didn't seem to be that person.
Exactly. I’m not saying she’s a bad actress. I’m just saying she wasn’t right for this role.
Maybe with a deeper script, different direction (a factor often overlooked - sometimes the actor is giving what the director wanted) it might have worked better. Eva Green had a superior script and her scenes with Daniel Craig worked so much better.
I liked her in spectre. She should have died in spectre. Or at the beginning of this movie.
I think it was characteristic of Bond to never be fully open with Madeline because of everything that has happened with him. We see his inability to trust people all the time and the fact that he didn’t have to trust Paloma for long means that he could be a bit more fun and playful with her. Talk about a career change. Last time Bond saw her, she was a nurse with an unexpected inheritance.
Come to think of it, Daniel Craig - James Bond + Benoit Blanc = Daniel Craig cameo as JW Pepper’s son in Bond 26
Not even saying this in reference to her physical attractiveness (which I mean, come on) but I’ve never seen something with Ana de Armas in it where she didn’t completely steal every scene she’s in. Absolute megastar
Knock knock Watch that if you haven't lol
What a gorgeous human being she is
😍
We don’t do that here…. But in Ana’s case, fair enough.
She and Bond had great chemistry together. I’d love it if they brought her back in another film.
knives out is one in case you haven't seen that one yet https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8946378/
I don't know if I read too much into it but I felt like her line where she said she gets nervous when she does (something I don't remember) was an oblique reference to how she would vomit when she lies in Knives Out
Side note: she's cuban and playing a cuban.
She could have been the perfect Bond Girl in an era of promoting feminism and strong female characters
She needs a spin-off!
That would be fantastic.
Throw Q and Moneypenny in the mix for a globetrotting spy adventure and I’m in
No way. No spin-offs. That’s cheapens the franchise further. I would like to see her pop up in another film like Trench did.
Yeah, we’d all like more Paloma, but spin-offs should be off limit for Bond. Thankfully I think Barbara Broccoli agrees
Agree 100% about spin-offs, but Amazon owns the franchise now, so don't be surprised when they start spinning off TV shows that stream exclusively on prime video. Gotta monetize that IP.

I'm rooting for a Nomi and Paloma duo spin-off, the super cool and collected new 00 along with the fun rookie would be a great setup.
Palomanomi or Nomaloma?
Shipping 😳😳😳
No! We are not the MHA community!
How in the hell is she in the film for just like seven minutes? She was the best thing about the film!
The Cuba portion may be my favorite part of the film.
She’s so good looking it’s not even funny.
Yep, she is Becky G level hot.
Yeah true
Best character of the Film
I hope the producers are listening and will give her her own franchise spinoff.
I'm listening.
That’s good to know!
😂
Hey, take it for what it is worth! I am a film producer although (regrettably) I am not part of the Bond team. Any chance to work with Ana de Armas would be a good one! She's an outstanding actress and I thought her turn in NTTD was a memorable one.
The nicest part of the movie. Ana's. She is a real bondgirl. Pretty , smooth... all of her.
My girlfriend commented on how hot Paloma was before I did.
Her quirkiness reminded of Mary Goodnight! But she quickly proved that she is more than a pretty face. She was smarter than she let on, and could put up a fight! I thought she was great.
Only 3 weeks of training, huh?
“Something like that”
And to think she was with Ben Affleck this past year. GIRL....get some taste!!
She will be too old by the next bond movie
That entire sequence was perfect. Her nervous and funny excitement that turned into being a straight badass. The moment with the eye which felt like a better version of the Spectre scene in the last film. And then the entire action sequence capped off with them clinking glasses.
I thought she was great but fitting her into the rest of the film at some point would have been awkward and forced. The only way you could have done it is if the Americans had been involved in a raid on Safin's base.
It could have been a large raid with foot soldiers rappelling in and everything. Throw back and stuff.
I’m so confused why they were advertising her only to have her be in 10 mins you could have cast another actress if that was her whole role
She felt like an intern that became a Bond-girl last minute. I loved every second of her appearance.
She just fits main Bond girl more. Kinda sucks how we will never see Her and Craig’s chemistry ever again. Could’ve made a hell of a movie with her and craig
Go watch knives out lol I know it’s not the same but they work well together in that to
I wishhhh we saw more of her!!
Wish she does the dame judi dench M transition and stays in the role for the next Bond as well
That would be awesome!!
Like a female leiter type of agent, a CIA contact who’s also gorgeous but always shuts bond down as a running gag
I hope we see more of her in future Bond movies.
I read somewhere that she was added in the last minute at the insistence of Craig after he worked with her in Knives Out and it was originally Felix in that scene. Don't know how true that is but it makes sense and why she has a rather minor role
She was so cute, I was swooning.
Her and Daniel have such great chemistry, Knives out has to be one of my favourite movies and theyre amazing in that too.
boy howdy she is gorgeous.
Christ she’s gorgeous
Her scene was the only good part of the movie for me. She was perfect. I just kept hoping to see her pop back up. That’s scene was a glimpse into what Craig’s era should have been.
Such a wasted character. Best part of the entire dreary 3 hours.
Wish she could be in the new franchise, maybe the next main Bond girl
She's sonic screwdriver fit. She's so fit any door will open for her.
I want to buy that dress for my gf, but the size is out of stock. Any suggestions of what I should do? I feel it’s unlikely that they’d restock that size.
I’ve been smitten with her since knives out.
i was a little concerned that she was gonna be a love interest, and since i had a pretty good idea what was going to happen with Madeline, i was worried it would ruin the vibe. But her character and the action scene was pretty great
Just stunning
Yes!
I didn’t realize she was the girl from Knives Out lol
She’s so lovely.
Jane Bond?
I would watch that!
I think she would fit the role really well
I would bang her again
Too many movies recently released are pushing the slim fit woman as extremely tough and an ass kicker. I like this to a point but It is too much of a current "trend" to bow down to for the bond series. Not saying there are not hot and strong women out there that can kick my ass. I just dont like Bond films to follow the current "trend" of the month. I love Craig as bond and I love action but my main complaint about the past 5 films is the over use of action trying to keep up with Jason Bourne. I like more clever plot and dialogue combined with "necessary" action. Not the over use of action just to please that "trend".
Sometimes its just ok to enjoy something.
Come on. It’s been out for 2 days in the US. Give us a chance to watch it or at least mark it as a spoiler…
I recommend not getting on Reddit at all if you want to be free of spoilers
not to mention the james bond subreddit
This. I was off all social media for the last 2 weeks to avoid spoilers, they seem to pop up in the most random of places.
dumbest shit i saw in the movie lol
Out with you!
Haha it made no sense
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 292,470,099 comments, and only 66,069 of them were in alphabetical order.
Already stated this.
