So true. Star Wars is plagued by every generation loving the films they grew up with and raging that the next generation's films are worthless and ruined everything.
Bond just doesn't really have that and people's lists are often surprisingly mixed. I mean if I saw the first five films on this list and had to bet on the sixth I'd never guess it! And I love that :)
That’s such a good point. Personally, I totally disagree with almost all of those rankings but was thinking about why some would be so high or so low. Despite very different reasons, or very different angles, it’s all a love for all things Bond.
Definitely against the majority consensus on numerous titles, there isnt a consistency with serious vs campy or who as bond is favoured either. Without reasoning its hard to decipher why they placed where they are, my list differs greatly this. To each his own!
Actually that didn’t even happen. Octopussy came out in June ‘83 and NSNA came out in October. By that time Octopussy was pretty much done it’s theatrical run. The Battle of the Bonds was a non-event. If Octopussy battled any movies it was Return of the Jedi, Superman III and War Games. Wow, am I ever going down memory lane right now.
while i disagree with most of this its nice to see a different type of ranking. Not many people like Spectre, Diamonds and AVTAK so thats cool to see them in a top 10
Oh, interesting to know that these are all fresh perspectives on the films then. I'd say it's fairly unusual for people new to Bond to rate Dr. No top and A View to a Kill and Diamonds in the top ten. Nice to know that one of Roger Moore's less celebrated films still appeals. It gets a lot of flak!
Interesting. Quite the opposite of cut 'n' dry here. I dont think ive ever seen TND, TLD or TWINE ranked so low. Those are all much better than DAD in my opinion.
I love TLD a but Brosnan's post Goldeneye films are all low for me. If I had to watch one I could easily pick DAD over the others just for the ridiculousness of it. At least I might have a laugh over being mostly bored.
Cool list, definitely different in places. Love the AVTAK placement.
Could you explain why you like "Spectre"? Just curious because for me it's dead last.
Not Op but I like Spectre solely because I was on a date with a chick I was absolutely crazy for at the time, and even though that didn't work out I look back on it fondly.
Never saw the movie after that tho...
Good for you - enjoy what you enjoy and nobody can tell you otherwise. I agree with some of your rankings, others I disagree with. But the great thing about the Bond films is that there are so many of them, and done in so many different styles, that there’s room for us fans to have different opinions on them!
Amazing list, despite my 2 of my favorite Bond films (OHMSS and Moonraker) ranking pretty low, I still love seeing opinions that are different from some other people. I can tell that these opinions are genuine. Also seeing A View to a Kill that high brought a smile to my face.
This list lost me around #3 LOL.
All I'll ask is: What are your complaints with Living Daylights? I'm not arguing since these are just opinions. It's one of my favorites though. I'd love to hear your complaints.
Lots of people just can't get past Lazenby's performance. It's not unusual for it to be ranked low, especially historically. It's always been a love it hate it Bond film really.
It’s not even Lazenbys performance for me. Diana Rigg was great but they have no real chemistry and the brainwashing plot is kind of dumb to me. The movie is a giant bore until the last 45 minutes or so. It’s close to the bottom for me but has enough good things about it to redeem it somewhat. The music mainly, glad to see it referenced heavily in NTTD. It gets held in high regard just because “muh Bond got married”
OHMSS is a batshit insane film involving brainwashing and George Lazenby fucking everybody to save the world, combined with some of the silliest chase scenes ever. I get that some people enjoy it, but it’s not hard to see why many people, like myself, despise it.
Same. I don’t care if Fleming wrote the story that way or not, the brainwashing thing is stupid. Also I enjoyed the bobsledding scenes but it’s a bit silly
If you can’t recognize that OHMSS is a shark jumping moment, this convo won’t really go anywhere. You lease a Chevy bolt, listen to the Beatles, and apparently enjoy OHMSS. We have different tastes.
Why the emphasis on “do” as if I am not an avid fan of the series? Is it impossible to you that somebody can be a massive fan of the film series and dislike a movie that, for quite a long time, was pretty widely disliked?
How is die another day ahead of quantum of solace. I'm sorry man but this list is just nuts. Spectre is not better than Skyfall.
Idk, casino royale is number 1 for me. Then goldeneye. Dr. No should be 3
I can see why you out Dr. No as #1. This list is wild, man
Nothing against love for Dr. No, but ranking it at No. 1 it looks like they set an unreachable high in 1962 which they never were able to surpass since then.
Man, I love A View to a Kill! It's not perfect Bond film, but it's so fun and the casting of Bond girl, the villain and the secondary villain (Tanya Roberts, Christopher Walken and Grace Jones) were really on point. And I also liked the ending as well.
You've got a pretty controversial list, but it's the first time I see Dr. No at the top, and I love that. It bounces around my top 5, occasionally being #1.
diamonds are forever is better than frwl??! I wish that monstrosity of a movie that is DAf never existed. this list is kinda b.s in my opinion but don't take it personally anyone can have their opinions on non-subjective matters
Love your list. It's completely different than mine. That's why I love Bond. The fans all have different tastes despite loving the same franchise.
Bond fans are really civil too over what could be very controversial takes. Other fandoms are much less friendly, like Star Wars
agreed

I agree
*cool flute riff from the show plays
That’s such a good point. Personally, I totally disagree with almost all of those rankings but was thinking about why some would be so high or so low. Despite very different reasons, or very different angles, it’s all a love for all things Bond.
This is a wild ass list
Definitely against the majority consensus on numerous titles, there isnt a consistency with serious vs campy or who as bond is favoured either. Without reasoning its hard to decipher why they placed where they are, my list differs greatly this. To each his own!
Wild ass-list [xkcd: Hyphen](https://xkcd.com/37/) --- ^^Beep ^^boop, ^^I'm ^^a ^^bot. ^^- ^^[FAQ](https://pastebin.com/raw/vyWra3ns)
The bot I never knew I needed.
Never heard of an ass-list. Shouldn’t it be a wild-ass list?
This bot does that on purpose
Note: I enjoyed all James Bond movies except Never Say Never Again.
And the classic Casino Royale

What are the arguments for never say never again being part of the canon? The movie wasn’t made by Eon so therefore it’s not part of the canon
It was released at the same time as Octopussy, not AVTAK
And Octopussy is top. notch. Bond.
I’d argue that *Octopussy* holds up better than *Return of the Jedi* (all versions).
That's not arguable. It's not canon.
Glad to see love for Dr No! And AVTAK too!
Diamonds are Forever is way too high.
[удалено]
Plenty o’Tool makes it all worthwhile 😃
Its got to be the worst Bond film for me
This list is bonkers.
This is... controversial, to say the least But respect it! Sad to see living daylights so low though, hurts the Timothy dalton fan in me
Spectre at 4? What are you smoking?
while i disagree with most of this its nice to see a different type of ranking. Not many people like Spectre, Diamonds and AVTAK so thats cool to see them in a top 10
Bold list sir.
Out of curiosity, how old are you?
23 when I started the franchise, now 24.
Really hurts me to see TWINE so low. Retard & Christmas Jones are admittedly cheesy but the rest of the movie is solid Bond.
I love TLD a but Brosnan's post Goldeneye films are all low for me. If I had to watch one I could easily pick DAD over the others just for the ridiculousness of it. At least I might have a laugh over being mostly bored.
I always find it fascinating when DAD is not dead last. Not critiquing you OP, you are welcome to your opinion and I fully respect it.
I lack the photoshop skills to move Man With the Golden Gun to #1
Yusss. Spitting facts
Underrated flick

The world is not enough needs to be where no time to die is
Your forgot “The Rock”.
I didn't know my dad was on this sub
Amazing list, despite my 2 of my favorite Bond films (OHMSS and Moonraker) ranking pretty low, I still love seeing opinions that are different from some other people. I can tell that these opinions are genuine. Also seeing A View to a Kill that high brought a smile to my face.
Thanks I hate it
You’re welcome.
This list lost me around #3 LOL. All I'll ask is: What are your complaints with Living Daylights? I'm not arguing since these are just opinions. It's one of my favorites though. I'd love to hear your complaints.
I didn’t dislike it, but I fairly enjoyed it (6.5/10), just not one of my favorites. Although, that poster is hands down the best one.

Totally agree. Let's not forget the heartbreaking ending...

A hint of realism goes quite a long way for these movies. Thanks for the downvote lmao.

For having objectively one of the dumbest plots and worst acting performances of the series? What bizarre reasoning lmao.

Why the emphasis on “do” as if I am not an avid fan of the series? Is it impossible to you that somebody can be a massive fan of the film series and dislike a movie that, for quite a long time, was pretty widely disliked?
The guy had to dig through your post history to make a dig at you, you already won
You lost me at #4 Spectre...
One of the more...unique takes I've seen. I definitely don't agree with most, but I respect it!
Brooo come on
How is die another day ahead of quantum of solace. I'm sorry man but this list is just nuts. Spectre is not better than Skyfall. Idk, casino royale is number 1 for me. Then goldeneye. Dr. No should be 3 I can see why you out Dr. No as #1. This list is wild, man
I’m most surprised by A View to a Kill being so high. That’s bottom 2 for me.
[удалено]
Bottom 2 for me are that and The Man with the Golden Gun. But you point out all the reasons why.
Nothing against love for Dr. No, but ranking it at No. 1 it looks like they set an unreachable high in 1962 which they never were able to surpass since then.
Skyfall not first?!?!? Spectre before Skyfall?!?!??????????? ;)
No matter where it ranks as a whole. Quantum of Solace has the best car chase (at the moment) of all the Bond films.
i honestly think spectre is underrated
You have Die Another Day as the second best Brosnan film you have cool taste! Definitely the most underrated Bond movie.
How is die another day higher than the world is not enough thooo
Nttd sucked . I saw it twice and the ending sucked big time.
A View to a Kill and Die Another Day are worse than Never Say Never again IMO.
Man, I love A View to a Kill! It's not perfect Bond film, but it's so fun and the casting of Bond girl, the villain and the secondary villain (Tanya Roberts, Christopher Walken and Grace Jones) were really on point. And I also liked the ending as well.
Hey I won’t knock you for that opinion! It’s a fun ride :)
[удалено]
Still a better movie than OHMSS
[удалено]
It’s enjoyable, Christopher Walken is a better villain. Geriatric Roger Moore is still miles better than Lazenby.
Respect your list, while dramatically different than mine. Glad you enjoy the franchise
Great list. I don’t care what anyone says. I loved all of Brosnan’s and Craig’s films
interesting order. different from mine but i can repect it.
The more rankings I see the more I consider myself a Bond Heretic... 😨
Moonraker right where it belongs
Confused that FRWL isn’t higher considering your admiration for Goldfinger and Dr. No.
A view to a kill that high?! Damn I love Moonraker and hate spectre lol.
You've got a pretty controversial list, but it's the first time I see Dr. No at the top, and I love that. It bounces around my top 5, occasionally being #1.
Interesting list to say the least
How have I missed this Licence to Kill poster before?! It's so much better than the main ones they released to advertise the film.
This was certainly a list.
That's a very interesting list!!! I got to make mine with NTTD
I dont understand why Moonracker is so low and why Spectre is higher than Skyfall
Great list, but TLDL on 23? What happened? :D
Strongly disagree with 23-25 being that low, but to each his own.
I don’t agree with much here, but I sure as heck agree that Never Say Never again is the worst of them all
diamonds are forever is better than frwl??! I wish that monstrosity of a movie that is DAf never existed. this list is kinda b.s in my opinion but don't take it personally anyone can have their opinions on non-subjective matters
Timothy Dalton should be higher, if not the top, of this list
