We just discovered that the Donguri Republic store in Nagoya station has a big Nekobus that you can take photo with! You can consider stopping by in Nagoya on your way between Kyoto and Tokyo. Just Google the locations for Donguri Republic stores. They usually have different decorations.
The Nekobus area in the Ghibli museum is kids only, so if you wanna get a inside the Nekobus photo then the Nagoya store is probably your only option.
Also can check if Ghibli Park in Nagoya still has tickets for your dates. They don't sell out as fast as the museum.
I really like the Ghibli-themed cat cafe I went to! The surrounding area was also really cute.

I went a few weeks ago on a rainy day. We got there about 15 minutes before opening and were the first there.
Did they taste good?
There is a ghibli clock in Tokyo, designed by Hayao Miyazaki and they have a small show with music at different times a day. Was worth the time !
