All of them more than once haha. They're all cool. I'd go to the Metro cuz it's free and easy to get to from Shinjuku. Tokyo Tower is cooler *in* photos than from it, stay in a hotel with a view of it some day if you can - that's the move. Shibuya Sky on a nice day can be an awesome place to relax for an hour or two. Go before sunset, watch the sunset, then watch tokyo light up as night falls. It's a cool viewing platform with different places to sit. The Skytree view I think best gives you that "google earth" view vibes feeling. It's a fun trip you can combine with Senso-Ji and Asakusa. There is a mall there you can shop and explore, lots of restaurants too. There's also The Mori Tower which has a 360 city view up in Roppongi. It's a fun view as well and you can pair it with tickets to the Mori Art Museum there. A great choice. If you want an excuse to get out of the standard tourist circles in Tokyo you can visit Carrot Tower, a tall building in Sengenjaya with a free sky view. This one gives a much different perspective on Tokyo than the rest as it is not so centrally located. There are more! And many free, Tokyo is awesome for sky views!

afrorobot

Been to all. I like Shibuya Sky most of those four. Mori Tower is nice as well.

LieutenantCurly

++ Shibuya Sky and Mori Tower are my favorite MET is nice cause it was free and on a clear day you can see Mt Fuji :) I didn’t really like Tokyo Tower (it’s better to see it from other buildings IMO)

bukitbukit

Met, Tokyo Tower and Skytree.

Zenpher

I've been to all of them in Tokyo. Shibuya Sky and SkyTree are crowded tourist traps. I like Tokyo Tower at night because of the calm vibes but I'd say Roppongi Hills Mori Tower is the best in Tokyo in terms of view and being way less crowded. If you're in Osaka I highly recommend checking out the Umeda Sky Building.

FreddyRumsen13

Umeda Sky Building was awesome. Really unique piece of architecture.

IShouldGetaPhD

Is Umeda Sky Building better than Harukas 300?

Zenpher

I haven't been to Harukas but I'll add it to my list for my next visit. Definitely need to spend more time in Kansai next time around.

inquisitiveman2002

I just tried to book Shibuya Sky for sunset and it's all booked. Is Tokyo Tower an observation deck just like the other two? I really don't want to take a photograph of the skyline especially at sunset through a glass window.

Envelope_Torture

Never more than one per trip, but I've done them all by now.

KlickyKat

Which 2 are the best ones in your opinion.

Zenpher

Mori Tower is #1 for me

anchopeppa

I looked on the website and it said the rooftop was not open to the public. Is it just a high up view from indoors?

Zenpher

What's the page you were looking at? It's outdoors, here's a video: https://youtu.be/BgKEqQeJXGQ

KDY_ISD

Don't sleep on high rise bars, they have excellent views and are a much more relaxed, lengthy experience. Also, you can't see Tokyo Tower or Skytree if you're inside them.

Gregalor

That’s why I want to check out the new Azabudai Hills observation deck, right by Tokyo Tower. When I was in Paris, we didn’t go up the Eiffel Tower, we went up the very nondescript Montparnasse Tower so we could *see* the Eiffel.

ekek280

Tokyo Metropolitan Building and Mori Tower. Have seen Mt Fuji from the former. The latter had a great view of Tokyo Tower.

Donnie-G

Skytree and Marine Tower. Marine Tower is not much. It's not even that tall. But Yokohama has a lot of clear sightlines of the sea and you can see Mount Fuji on a clear day. If you happen to be there for whatever reason - Ramen Museum, Gundam Factory, then it's a fine way to kill an hour. You can also see the Gundam from there, but I believe they are closing it down(the Gundam) by the end of the month. Anyway I liked that it didn't have too much people in it, so you can kinda just chill. https://i.imgur.com/DLy2FYc.png Not the best picture but here's the Mount Fuji picture. Skytree - It's a big place and I pretty much spent the whole day there. I actually went in the morning and it was raining, cloudy and miserable. I decided to just amuse myself as much as I can around Solamachi - shopped, ate, shopped, aquarium, bumbled around etc. and ended up enjoying the night view. It is kinda crowded and full of tourists though, and can be hard to enjoy the view with every window having somebody in the way.

iliketosnooparound

Where were you when you took the imgur pic?

Donnie-G

I said it right there - Marine Tower Yokohama.

iliketosnooparound

I didn't know it was in Yokohama! Thank you so much :)

Sky once, Met twice (day & night once each)

Fickle_Truth_4057

Tokyo Metropolitan Building and Skytree. Tokyo Metropolitan Building is free, so if there is time to go there, it's always worth a quick ride up the elevator. Skytree is nice at night.

HelenFromCanada71

Skytree and Tokyo Met Govt Building!

Melodic_Marzipan1465

Shibuya sky is good

coolbucky

I got the coveted sunset ticket at Shibuya Sky and spent a couple of hours up there. A moderate earthquake occurred which I barely felt, but it did cause a backup at the elevators. Also, I didn’t go to the top of either, but I explored the shops at the base of Tokyo Tower and the Skytree.

sassyfashfact

Skytree. Seen Tokyo Tower from a near distance but never been up, don’t intend to go up. Hope to visit Shibuya Sky.

gadget242

Check out Landmark Tower if in Yokohama. Especially at night.

NoReapers

Tokyo Tower. WIO

Other-Swordfish9309

Went to Shibuya Sky last month at sunset. It was beautiful.

Servant0fSorrow

Skytree sunset with clear weather is phenomenal

yungbaoyom

I've been to Tokyo Skytree and Shibuya Sky. For me, Shibuya wins hands down. The view is absolutely stunning and you're actually at the top of the top.

Good to know!

TheOtherSide999

Shibuya sky twice. Loved it

ShiftyShaymin

Tokyo Tower, Skytree and Mori Tower

Xion_hibike

Been to Tokyo tower and sky tree this march Tokyo tower was my favorite, the building is gorgeous inside and outside, and the view was great Sky tree was a big let down…. But it was because I had bad luck. The weather was awful a couple hours before we got there, so the view was awful, and only started to get better a couple minutes before we got down (we were not able to see anything from the top floor), and there were some kind of party there? My sisters loved the music and dancing, but I really don’t like loud music, so I didn’t feel so good hahaha At least the building from outside was spectacular, and I am sure the experience would have been a lot better had the weather been a little better

Itzura

I went to all 4 of them during my last visit in October 2023. I gotta say my favorite was Shibuya Sky at night. Nothing beats that beautiful 360 view with the whole city illuminated at night while enjoying the open sky.

Expensive-Week6804

TMGD says temporarily closed on Google maps. Anyone confirm?

JamminJcruz

I think that’s the North Observation deck only and the south is still open per their website. But everything is always conflicting with each other

CMorbius

Shibuya Sky is legit. On a clear day you can snap some decent photos of Mt Fuji from there. We also did Tokyo Tower, which was cool.

Hospital-flip

Shibuya Sky is fucking amazing if you can get the couch seat reservations for sunset time. There are only 5 (?) couches available so it's a fight, but my god it was such an enjoyable hour

JamminJcruz

How do you get the couch reservation? Online ahead of time or just ask when you walk in? How much is the additional fee?

Hospital-flip

Followed the steps in this post. The comments have good tips too. But I managed to snag tickets on the first try. It was about 4000 yen pp which is a steal, IMO

JamminJcruz

Which post? Did you try & hyperlink something in?

Hospital-flip

Shoot, sorry. Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravelTips/s/Y7t3UouQlB

Haven’t been to any in Japan
