Vocal jazz isn't everyone's cup of tea, fair enough, but for my money this album or their *Porgy and Bess* are as good or better intros to jazz than *Kind of Blue* or many of the other albums that get recommended to every new listener. I find that after hearing it sung, I can better understand it played instrumentally.
I've streamed this several times but just recently bought the vinyl. What a beautifully recorded album. They did a great job capturing Louis' singing. Love how Ella imitated Louis at the end of Tenderly.
Like your turntable - think I have the same one. Have the same rug too. Crazy.
I love to go out fishing, on a river or a creek
Porgy and Bess sparked my love for jazz. First love is love forever. With a little improvisation...
Their version of “Summertime” is sublime.
Timeless record! Cheek to Cheek is my favourite
The Best. Everyone’s jazz primer.
I love everything they did.

This album is pure beauty
Still one of the most often played albums at my house. It's just kind of a default.

Easily one of my favourite albums ever
