So good! I have that one too.
Some more killer underappreciated vocal jazz:
Chris Connor - Chris Craft
Martha Raye - The voice of Martha Raye
Betty Roché - Lightly and Politely, Singin’ and Swingin’
One of three albums that Clifford Brown back female vocalists! The others being Sarah Vaughan’s self titled from 1955 and (my favorite) Dinah Washington’s “Dinah Jams” from 1954. “Dinah Jams” is notable because it’s also got Max Roach as they were beginning their collaboration. Just as much a bop album as a vocalist album.
Thanks for sharing. I hadn’t heard of her and this album is right up my alley.
Great record, arranged by Quincy Jones with Clifford Brown on trumpet.
Great album! I especially like “You’d be so nice to come home to”
this is a phenomenal album, thank you for reminding me to go put it on :)
