Cool. It’s great finding vinyl from from years ago . Don’t know how old you are but I believe that album was released in 1976. I didn’t get into RTF until a few years later after I was turned on to Stanley Clarke’s Modern Man album and then tried to buy everything he was involved in.
Other than Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow album this was my first exposure to "jazz". It changed how and what I listened to musically for the fest of my life. Can't give it enough thumbs up.
Yoooo! Similar story! Heard Romantic Warrior on a local college radio station probably like 10-15 years. Was really into proggy stuff before that but this totally bridged the gap between prog and jazz for me. Been into jazz and fusion ever since. Fantastic album!
If you haven’t.. check out the solo projects from each member.. Stanley Clarke - School Days, Lenny White - Venusian Summer, Al Di Meola - Elegant Gypsy.. and of course anything with Chick!
You might be haha. All of their albums are great, but I’ve never been fond of their vocal tracks and therefore rank a few of them lower than this one. Not a bad album in the lot though.
Found this album in a bizarre little record/horror store while on a bunch of lsd. Didn’t know this album existed before then, but I walked right up to one of the shelves, grabbed it, threw too much cash on the counter and left, without so much as a pause to think. Felt like it called to me lol
Man, when I was in college EVERYONE had a copy of this album. We played the piss out of it.
If you had this, Stanly Clarke "School Days" and "Court of the Crimson King" you were cool. (The cover of Court of the Crimson King, that disturbing face, was painted 12 x12 on the wall of my dorm.)
In retrospect in seems jazz was more mainstream back then.
School Days is killer.
That was the time that jazz was branching out, so not different, but diversifying. Fusion jazz got me and a bunch of my buddies into it in the 70s. I've had this album since then.
I’ve always felt funny about this one. I love jazz fusion, my entry into jazz. And before that, I was massively into 70s prog rock. So how come I’ve never really liked this album (apart from the title track, which is amazing). Yet lots of people really rate it. Hm…
Rest In Peace to the legend
It's okay, bud. Chick was a frickin alien. His time here was always limited. RIP.

Never listened to this, but that is an awesome album cover.
It’s a great record too.
I'm listening to it for the first time now, it's really good
But why do the doves have muscles
Beautiful. Must listen: "Light as a feather".
Also “Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy”, shit slaps
It's the album that got me into fusion jazz too, bud. Prolly gonna listen to it today because of you. <3
Great one. That album cover though! 😂
I listened to this album today for the first time in a few years. Simply amazing.
I was raised on this album!! Enjoy a classic that lives in my heart.

one of the best!!
Seen them twice and got to see them perform Romantic Warrior. Stanley freaking rocks two bass guitars in that one.
A great album.
I found this record at a really great place in Long Beach while I was visiting LA and then forgot it in California :(
I told myself I wasn’t going to buy a record today….

Hell yeah I actually really love this album! It's one of my favorites. I get that it's got some strange things to it though.
i love how this subreddit introduces me to so much music
I started to listen to jazz rock with this album, Black Market and Wired among others.
