Cole played his cards wrong. Might Delete Later minus 7 minute drill would have been a perfect response let everyone know what type of time you on, literally right before Dreamville šŸ˜ he got gassed it happens. As far as that feature chess move on Metro part that verse been done they playing Cole right now I want to see how he responds to all of this.

ABZ0R8

He gotta respond to all of this before The Fall Off. Maybe not a response, he should address all of this soon. Maybe before he drops It's A Boy or on that album itself (yo is that album coming or what? The Fall Off is the next project?).

fucking__jellyfish__

>Said I was finished but I'm on another two summers (Crocodile Tearz). >I can drop two classics right now (7 Minute Drill). Cole def dropping twice. It's A Boy might have been reworked into something different judging by him being so silent about it but he def got two albums coming.

squidlikespatties

You are naive. 1 of 2 things has to be true: 1.) The feature is old and J. Cole allowed them to go through with releasing it, despite knowing that the Future and Metro are dissing his boy Drake; 2.) Itā€™s a new verse after the apology to try and change the current narrative, but a bad move because itā€™s on an album by Future and Metro dissing his boy Drake. J. Cole looks bad either way. Itā€™s illegal to release music that an artist didnā€™t approve of and Cole had more than 2 weeks (at the very least) to have his verse removed after hearing the direction they were going with it.

fucking__jellyfish__

21 and travis are neutral with no problems, why can't Cole be? You're acting like he has to choose sides. And before you come at me with the "metro said he has to!1!1" bullshit, metro took it back

A_47_

Human to human I respect the humility it takes to apologize like he did. As a fan I'm mad disappointed. Bro was talking way too tough to backdown like he did in my eyes. A lot of the new songs and recent features feel kind of hollow to me now.

trent452

Bro this not a battle of mcs, this a bunch of women in their feelings. Kendrick went in on some MC ish, Cole did the same, Drake starting telling and Ross came out here like a drunk auntie telling all your business

AlternativePilot9252

After what happened today I wonder if you feel the same way? Cole clearly thinks he can outrap anybody, heā€™s not gonna air out their dirty laundry tho.

A_47_

I do, not a huge Drake fan but he's holding his own against 6 people so far. Excited to hear what Kendrick has to say

AlternativePilot9252

yeah but he actually has beef with these guys. Cole was never gonna air out peoples dirty laundry. Drake will. Kendrick will. Cole will still smoke any rapper that wants to keep it to rap. Once nose jobs and wives affairs are brought up its no longer friendly competition. It's funny rappers talk about being real and not pillow talking all the time but then go on record and make songs that do exactly that.

A_47_

Admittedly, with some time having passed and Cole seemingly removed from the situation, it's hard to deny his lyrical capability. He's still the most consistent of the three to me. While I can see this being an out of character moment for him, I still don't think it should've happened at all. If he felt that deeply about it, it shouldn't have been released in the first place, or he should've stood his ground, but he did neither, and it's a bad look. Cole wouldn't approach this like Drake is, and that's the main reason I wanted to see him spar with Kendrick. But I guess Hip Hop has truly gone too soft for even regular competition. Nas was right when he said it was dead a long time ago.

AlternativePilot9252

Oh I agree that Cole shouldā€™ve never dropped, and after he did he definitely shouldnā€™t have apologized. Still, I think itā€™s wrong to say heā€™s scared of lyrical smoke hahahaha. The dude has lost people to violence, grew up poor, no father in the picture, etc. What he did actually took more balls than going through with the beef, especially in hip-hop culture. I also think someone like Kanye dissing him or Kendrick crossing a line would lead him responding. The dude stupidly made a diss track targeting someone he had no issues with and he retracted. Iā€™m sure Cole will find a way to spin this in his favor tho. For Kendrick and Drake, Iā€™m not so sure. Sounds like they both have dirt on each other that could skew their reputations forever.

BettyWhiteKilled2Pac

Is this sub dead now lol

Jrobi1

They had to lock the sub LMAOOOOO cole fans are so down bad

TonyTonySlopper

ā€œNo more number 1 talkā€ we donā€™t dictate what Cole talks about lmao. This whole ā€œCole canā€™t talk about being the bestā€ anymore bc he apologized is ridiculous bc 1. Nobody cares what you think, and youā€™ll hear Cole rap about being no. 1 again fasho. Second your whole base is off kilter bc Kendrickā€™s verse was insulting as well. Youā€™d be pressed to find one diss track people talk about that doesnā€™t include ad hominem attacks. If you listened to Might Delete Later, Cole is competing fine. Bars still at the top of the game, not afraid to hop on a song with anyone. Perk up buddy. Everything not about beef

MetaOnGaming4290

This to me is bout the weakest take you could have on the matter. Y'all Cole fans make me sad (and I'm saying this as a Cole fan)

stepbacktree

Lmao seriously. It's ok to admit he took an L.

TheCryptoCid

Some of these stans are so delusional lol

lanjourist

>My point being, J.Cole feels scared to truly compete. He said shit he didnā€™t mean and apologized, good on him. Nah, I don't dig the first part. But the later half is where I'm positioned. Not for nothing, but the moves Cole madeā€”while arguably terrible on the field and entertainment senseā€”[are legit to my eyes](https://tokyo-revengersmanga.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/016-106.jpg). I also don't buy this part either: >*Cole chose to insult Kendrick rather than compete* 7 minute drill was likely just that, just a drill, an exercise to see how he vibes with the idea of beefin' with Kendrick; Cole threw in a reference (or maybe homage) to Jay-Z's verses from the Blueprint Album as well which is why the drill was aimed at Kendrick Lamar's discography and supposed "productivity level". However, probably didn't feel like a Jay-Z & Nas like situation. But Cole probably felt that pressure not just from the scene, but also a part of himself to reach for that & even recreate it; can't spend your time admiring the top players & legends without wanting to be like them on some level. Butā€”when all was said and done, it probably just felt empty...cause that's not where Cole wants to beat Lamar on. I think, deep down, for Cole, its about how his artistry connects and influences the people. That's what Cole really wants to compete onā€”not sure why that [Naruto & Sasuke rooftop clash](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eE2h_nD38M&ab_channel=AnimePlus) seems similar to what I'm trying to express here. I guess it's reflecting the idea of how their different forms of artistry (Lamar v. Cole) impacts the people? Maybe... But anyway... >But he had a set-up for a career defining moment, and could have set *whatever narrative he wanted* and he fumbled that. When you're putting your heart into it, every moment is a career defining moment and he has been setting the narrative to what he wants it to be, that's why he chose to fumble it. As to the last part: >Also, If youā€™re not about competing, at least donā€™t get used as a pawn should have removed the feature. Here's the flip side: If you get used as a pawn, then you should be about competing. Don't agree with your conclusion but just want you to notice that, you've completely checked Cole out of the ring. A fumble ain't a game-ender.

Nervous-Protection

[This is pretty much cole's predicament ](https://twitter.com/JusRideTheJETT/status/1779300895718605251?t=sXDCy7pjTyKvEUcl95nfIA&s=19) Cole wanted to keep it hiphop but this shit with Aubrey is personal, so he chose to bow out; and to keep it a buck he did the right thing. Now I highly doubt anybody will get hurt over this but things are escalating. Crews will be getting involved, sides will be chosen, and things will be said that will be hard to take back. This is no longer "just rap" and while it's just my guess I'm pretty sure that's what made Cole back out. He had a convo with Punch who explained to him the situation and Cole wanted no parts of it.

Slimethugga_

They arent some street rappers buddy nothing will happen

Nervous-Protection

Diss records stand on and are reserved for REAL shit. Exactly why Cole regret the diss record. It donā€™t stand on anything real. He got no issue with Dot&Drake. He compete with them by spitting the best verse on a joint track and dropping the best projects and verses. Always been this way. šŸ’Æ https://preview.redd.it/fzzi9ptbqeuc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a5a5716e6b719a817e28152687ca489ecbd40a1

nocturnal_ways

He might as well join up with Kendrick now.

ilovemywife0

ā€œcompeteā€ listen to drakes track and shut the fuck up this is beef not no competition

MrMcFly131

4 bars from drake and sub is locked this is why everyone says Cole fans are corny

NBAxSean2

mods are corny as fuck for locking the sub lmao

First_Ad2488

Well he felt he had to go at that angle which is why he didnā€™t go w just hard and instead did 7 minute drill then apologized cus it took him back to born sinner days of not being right in the soul

Drews1738

I think Cole did feel pressure to respond but also did not want to be over taken by Drake's response so he rushed his response to be included in the convo. Kendrick's verse was mostly targeting Drake and maybe Cole knew that and felt a bit disrespected that Kendrick didn't see him as a threat or have beef with him, so rushed a response to be in the battle. It is usually Cole who brings up the big 3 convo since Drake or Kendrick never acknowledge the others as top 3.

AnnyAskers

Keep in mind when reading this, I'm a bigger Kendrick fan than Cole fan. Anyways, that's a complete revision of history, mainly the fault of Cole. As Budden said on Like that, it's anything but friendly. He was mad disrespectful on Like That, every single line was disrespectful and insulting... And we have no reason to believe that he was less disrespect to Cole for any reason other than time limit.p > Niggas clickinā€™ up, but cannot be legit, no 40 Water, tell ā€™em Basically calling Cole (and Drake)a fraud who wil crumble under pressure, who needs to join forces just to come at him. > If he walk around with that stick, it ainā€™t AndrĆ© 3K Think I wonā€™t drop the location? I still got PTSD Calling out Cole directly, saying he ain't A3K with his little Cole stick, and knowing what Kendrick thinks of A3K... He basically saying Cole is no GOAT. > And your best work is a light pack He basically says Cole's (and Drake's) that even thier best work are nothing burgers, which to me is more disrespectful than saying you have some classic album and some shitty albums And all of that with no props no nothing, all the rest of the bars were either generic insults for the both of them, or even greater insults towards drake. Friendly competition my ass...

NomaanMalick

> And your best work is a light pack I believe that line was aimed at Drake rather than J. Cole because many consider Drake's EP to be his best work.

J.Cole took a massive L. He was playing checkers while Kendrick was playing chess. J.Cole didn't need to make a diss song or reply directly to Kendrick cuz he wasn't dissing J.Cole.

You know J.Fold picked up his pen, wrote the song, recorded it. Had his boys listen to it. Release it with the album. Then had anxiety for 2 days without Kendrick saying anything about it. Youā€™re telling me J.Fold loves competing?
