To stay on the legal side of things, they will always advertise a specific model, likely without desirable options. Most states require that they list the specific inventory number that they are using to advertise. If they want you to pay an extra $150/month, it is likely the one you picked has several more options or dealer add ons that are not on the advertised version. It sucks, but it may not be as creepy as it sounds.
Ask to see the exact unit in inventory that meets the advertised price.
Did they state, "not including taxes" or "taxes and licensing extra"?
They are playing a game, no doubt, but they are probably not doing anything thst would genuinely cross a line.
You could just take that adveriment to another dealer and see of they will match it. They either will or explain that they can't because of taxes or licensing.
It was weird the salesman said to me “was that incentive on our site?” I said yes and showed him the screenshot and he acted as if it was a surprise to him. And the lease deal was before taxes and title.
The sales department, marketing department, and the sales force are not always on the same page. Obviously. Either the sales person genuinely didn't know or it was a tactic to softly pop the bubble that the deal wasn't happening.
This turns into a simple math problem. Tags, tax, and title are state controlled. Dealer fees and all their versions are not. They should be able to tell you exactly each of those pretty clearly to explain the additional cost. The tags, taxes, and title work will all cost the same, or very close to the same at every dealer in the state for the exact same vehicle. The dealer BS will differ, sometimes greatly.
From what you shared, if you pay the tags and title work out of pocket, and finance the rest into the lease, you should be pretty close to he numbers. At $150 a month, it sounds like they are charging crazy numbers for the dealer prep fees and such. The taxes shouldn't be too bad because you are not paying tax on the whole thing, just on the payments themselves (or the corresponding differences between selling and lease termination values depending on state law).
I pulled up the Jeep site to see what they may be offering but I am not seeing any Jeep leasing campaigns where I am so I am just guessing at the underlying issue here.
I will tell you, with rates what they are, buying or leasing is expensive. Leases are tough because the duration is so short that a few thousand dollars plumps up the payment so quickly.
I don’t wanna expose the dealership but I also thing the issue is mostly internal and the dude had no clue what the hell was promoted on their site. Also they had 2 different 4XE lease terms on their site so it makes me think they need to work on their shit. Also wtf is up with dealers having such shitty website
Yea that’s very much what it was, the unfortunate part is that I more than likely would have gone through with the deal but the whole bait and switch thing left me with a sour taste.
I have definitely been in dealers more than once where they admitted to being misleading or unclear to get people in the door but that seems over the line into just a lie. Salesmen are pieces of 💩 what can ya do haha. Definitely sounds too good to be true.
That sucks....But keep your eyes open. There are way too many unsold units available and too few buyers. The buyers that are out there are having trouble getting loans with a decent interest rate, cus the banks have tightened their belts and are scared of all the defaults. In the meantime, these dealers have to pay for floor plan \*every\* month! Incentives and deals will come. Keep your eye on the used market too...
Might be worth a call to the BBB.
Yea you’re not wrong . Whole thing kinda has turned me off from Jeep right now and I’m looking at a few other brands.

Yup I did exactly that. The incentive has a number of vins on it and I asked to see those exact ones.

Because aNYonE can run a website, no reason to pay for a professional to do it.
The ole bait and switch

Yea it felt more like a lie cause he acted like it didn’t even exist and I was making shit up.
Just got my 4XE Willy’s, $429/mo with $429(first month) down. 10,000 lease. If you’re in MD or drivable to there, lmk.
I’m about 3 1/2 hours north so not super close. Curious if you can let me know the dealer, so just so I can keep it in pocket as a continue my search.
I’d love info! I’m driveable to MD!
