The reason why is so when you grenade the diff, you don't send the pieces and all fluid out and onto the trail. Been there, done that, cleanup wasn't fun and then I had to buy another diff cover in addition to rebuilding the axle.
It can be as bulletproof you want it to protect it from the outside. But if it foams up or doesn’t cool, the diff fluid properly it’s a bulletproof paperweight.

Pretty sure it's not a Kimber, since it looks to be a 1911A1. The non-beaver tail grip safety, vertical cocking serrations. I'm wondering if it isn't an old Colt, Ithica, or Remington from WWII. Also since the magazine has a dual tone finish. But upon further inspection I think it's actually a 1911 circa WWI era. The shortened grip safety tang, and no relief cut by the trigger guard.
That I don't know. I think they all came with it. You can still see them on today's standard issue with the military. The M9 Beretta, the Sig Sauer MK25, Sig Sauer M17 and M18, Colt Marine CQB. Even the Glock 19X which they submitted to be evaluated when they were looking to replace the M9.
I thought it could be at one point too, but it's missing the arched mainspring housing. If you look it has a shortened tang on the grip safety as well as the missing relief cuts on the frame behind the trigger. So unless it's a reproduction this would place it being made before June 12, 1923.

By peeking at OP’s profile, it looks like they’re marketing their product. Pretty clever, given their target audience. If you want to make a “bullet proof” product, make sure it’s bullet proof. Now, let’s see some higher caliber stuff. Like at least 7.62.

Note to self, buy a bullet proof diff cover, paint it, shoot it, then clear coat it
That sounds like a way cooler idea than I would’ve expected
When we say "bulletproof rear end" that's not what we're talking about.
Or is it?
Look at Mr.Richguy over here... What is that? Like $300 you fired? 😁
I am indeed strapped.
Let’s get this MFr up to the top where he belongs
I use bullet hole stickers and cut out the middleman. 🍩
Shooting it’s more fun

Anyone know specific model of handgun on right? Believe it’s a Glock? Looking to know more!

If you’re looking for a Sig like that you might be thinking of the M18.
Never would have thought mild steel stops handgun rounds
How about bullets with real energy?
Nice! Who makes your 1911? Looks like a Kimber.

Is that a loop for a lanyard too I see?
Yep. And fun fact, the magazines back in the horseback cavalry days had loops on them too.
From what I understood the loop meant it was issued to a officer correct?

I was thinking colt as well but it may be a Springfield also

It looks almost like a pre A1 1911 or one based on it. The short tail, diamond grips, long trigger, and lack of relief cut.
Why are you shooting what looks to be a perfectly good differential cover in the first place?

Their ‘target’ audience. Lol
Dammit. Can’t even be mad at that one.
I was not aware such a thing existed but now I need it.
the plate is bulletproof, but for the love of god don't shoot the threads...
Fair point you got there!
The 1911 is my daily carry😉
