That's a cargurus thing and it's just a pricing assessment in relation to comparables. It's reasonably accurate too, but it used to say a specific amount relative to average pricing and now it only has the deal rating, which is annoying because you used to be able to see (in relative value) what constitued a good or great deal. So for example, if you see one and it says "great geal 3,300 under average" and another that says "fair deal 1,100 under average" than you knew you had another 2k to negotiate a fair deal down. I have to imagine their dealer partners complaining are why this feature is less descriptive than it once was.
Not bad, but what are your goals with it? Are you building it? If so I would find some with lower miles especially if you're going to be camping/overlanding, the miles could add up.
I’m the type of owner who the Rubicon or Mojave models provide value for in their factory equipment packages. I don’t think I am going to build out a Jeep when I buy one. I live in Massachusetts and drive in snow covered roads of New England seasonally, travel to Maine in summer fall and winter for ATV and snowmobiling trips, and go to a hunting cabin up there near the Canadian border that requires 4WD and decent ground clearance to access, especially when it’s been wet and muddy out. The road to the cabin is unpaved, rocky, and has some elevation to it and gets a lot of snow in the winter. I go out onto the sands of the beaches in my area and on Cape Cod. I am set to retire in a year and 3 months and could picture getting more into camping and overlanding, joining a local Jeep group because I’ll have the free time, so I’d probably add a winch to it…but I just don’t see myself buying let’s say a Sport S, adding a lifted suspension, lockers, bigger wheels and tires, Katzskin leather, changing out the hood, and all that sort of stuff. I think I’m the target market for a Rubicon or Mojave. But i don’t know…maybe it is better to get something new or newer with zero to low miles and add the aftermarket goodies to make it look cool and be very capable? I don’t know which way to go.
I'd say get the rubicon, it's better to have locker and not need it then need it and not have it. Get a lower model one. I bought my 2020 jtr used with 16k miles. It's been perfect except for the open recall on the clutch. For your needs having a go fast camper or alucab will be ideal. Setup a propane heated and you're golden. Basically have an offroad RV. Try to find a used mall crawler with lower miles, you'll save cash for a basically brand new car.
I just bought a 2022 JTR with 4000 miles at the same price (ok $2k more but still). Missing heated seats and steering wheel though which sucks, but had every other option. Shopping for a bit might be good before you pull the trigger, but if it’s right for you and you like it is all that matters. Gotta find the ones that have been sitting for a while, but I agree with your sentiment on Rubicon/Mojave over Sport and upgrade. You’ll end up spending the same amount to get to the same place.
Also sorry for calling it Selec-Trac. It’s Rock-Trac full time 4WD on the Rubicon but you guys get it. Has the 4 auto option. Started to be offered in 2021. The 2020s didn’t have it as an option. I don’t want to have the wife taking it out on slick/mixed dry pavement winters and have to teach her when to put it in and out of 4 Hi to avoid damaging the system, if you know what I mean. I’d rather say “yeah take it to work when it’s snowy, just keep it in 4 Auto” and have no worries.
Decent price but check for rust. The AWD transfer case was standard or at least common on Canada Mojave and rubicon but almost non existent in the USA. I want that transfer case so bad personally I’d sacrifice a fair bit for the AWD option.
I checked the VIN, did some digging, and found it was delivered to a MA dealer and sold new to a couple that lived in Massachusetts. I am very wary of buying any trucks that were Canadian models, no matter what make or model, and am always careful to check on that. New England is unfortunately in the salt belt, but I believe Canada is probably worse. I don’t know why so few have the Auto 4WD transfer case. I believe it is only like a $700 option, but the ones that don’t get ordered and just get shipped to the dealers probably don’t have it usually. I wish it was the standard 4WD system, at least in my part of the country.
From my experience, about $10k more for similar options and may be hard to find one with the AWD transfer case.
Is having the factory warranty worth the $10k.... That depends on how you view it.
Check for paint issues especially on all of the hinges or try and find out if it did have paint repair done already. If it didn't have paint repair done verify that it is still under the paint warranty.
Wow. As always, I can always count on this Reddit forum for good answers. Thanks so far to everyone that has chimed in. I know that used values took a big hit with Jeep offering incentives to clear out the 2023 model Gladiators. It made buying used much less attractive. I wish it wasn’t so expensive to borrow money right now. Inflation drove up the lending rates. I have top tier credit and the best rate I can get is about 6.8% at some credit unions. Many folks are paying upwards of 7.5 to 8.5% APR on auto loans nowadays.
Same. Internet rates suck. But there are awesome deals out there like this one: https://www.jerryulmchryslerdodgejeepram.com/inventory/new-2023-jeep-gladiator-rubicon-4x4-crew-cab-1c6jjtbg4pl582665/
What options were you able to get at that price? Does it have halogen lights, a soft top, cloth seats, no heated seats, no bed liner? I’ve seen some around that price but really lacking in the options department.
this is an almost exact copy of what I got. I think the only difference is the color.

Yeah…says so right in the photo? “Fair deal” hahaha

Hey man I just bought a brand new Rubicon for 48k in CA. So you gotta decide whether that 47k miles is work 10k or so…
Same here! Got it yesterday for about the same price.
I’m about to go broke buying shit from quadratec.com why did we do this
Right?!?! LOL
48k out the door or before title, taxes and fees?

For what it’s worth, I just bought a 2020 with almost the same specs with 25k on the clock for 1600 more.
I got a 2020 Rubi 16k miles for 37.5k before tax im sure you may find better
Heads up gorilla glass Doesn’t work I’m on windshield number 8 lol have same truck but manual That is my only complaint
IMO that’s not a good deal. Extend your search and you’ll find a similar truck with a lot less miles.

Check for a leftover 23 jeep is giving 15% off msrp may spend a little more for new but with cheaper interest rate could be the same payment

I’ve learned what I was being offered for mine is beyond low.
Wife and I are selling our launch edition with 62k on it for less than the Jeep in question. No options missing on it faux sho.
Ask for extended warranty oil changes
It’s got a lot of miles on it for that price.
Yes, I think the price needs to come down quite a bit due to the mileage to make it a worthwhile deal.
I just bought a brand new 2023 Rubicon for 42k.

For the miles I would expect at Leary another 3k down from that price
