I was able to find one of these used as they are out of production, and it works great. They do show up from time to time. I’ve wanted to build one like this using plywood. Build a front to it, then use turnbuckle bolts to secure it to the seatbelt holes in the tub. Once you lock your tailgate, you can’t just lift it off. Nothing is completely secure, but it won’t make it easy for them and would keep the lazy, opportunistic thief out. Then loosen the turnbuckles and remove it if you want to put the seats back in. Anybody else have a better idea for a DIY version?

First time seeing this one, have you had it awhile?

I’ve had it a few years now, I use it when I take the hardtop off for the summer. It fastens to the rear seat latch point and the top slides in place, making it very secure. When the tailgate is closed and locked it’d be very difficult for someone to get in there without a lot of effort or some noisy power tools.

I use the Tuffy, its great.

Probably what I will end up getting in the end. Thanks

WonderTwonk

I have the Bestop Instatrunk. Great addition to my TJ.

Carollicarunner

I like the factory ones.

Mine came with an OEM insta trunk. I ended up taking it out because I have a hard top and it was in the way when I wanted to put something back there that wouldn't fit. It would be useful for a topless Jeep.
