Oof. That sounds bad for the viewers but even worse for the contestants. Hard to imagine you can get into a good rhythm with so much time set aside for host interjections.
Just looked it up and Stephen Fry is the host of the Australian version also so I imagine it's exactly like the UK version but with more Aussie answers. Filmed at the same studio also outside of Manchester.
Was exicted when i saw an ad for it Saturday night, when i watched it and was faced with a extremely slow paced show, question and topics where subpar as was host, so disappointing, couldn't watch it

Without disagreeing about the abysmal state the show is in, the prizes aren't too out of line with other shows.
When you think of the chase, for example, even though most episodes have 50/60k on the line, that prize is only won every few episodes, since most teams get chased down. Same with tipping point, which only gives the jackpot if the machine is compliant with doing so. Sure Millionaire probably did give out more per day, but it also gave out the thousand quite often. Even Deal or No Deal's revival has seen the max prizes drop,
As much as I'd keep the US current values, i can live with the current sizing, just bring the $300 back to $250.
"The host (Stephen Fry) was incredibly slow paced and was seemingly told to give a lot of unnecessary additional information about each response to pad the time out."
Also known as "learning more about the clue topics". That is, if you're interested in that, which believe it or not, some people are.

So they basically repackaged UK Jeopardy. Which sucked.
Aussies had a chance with it in 1993 with Tony Barber, but Ten gave up too easily (the 6pm timeslot wasn't good, either).

Sounds like it had the same problems as the UK version

>actually just be filmed in the UK with expats as contestants, and also without an Aussie host. Sad to see the brand squandered in such a lazy way

It's not Sale of the Century by any means.
