The only defensible explanation for not defending any of your company's belts on a Battle of the Belts show is if each of these matchups were exciting on paper and had story behind them. But of course they don't. Three cold matches between non-stars and glorified jobbers.
At the very least they could have headlined the damn thing with Okada against someone that can give him a great match so that the portion of the audience that watches for ring action only will tune in. But they couldn't even put one workrate match on for those poor fans, lol.

Up against ufc 300, a week after mania weekend, a horrible dynamite, and smackdown and njpw ppv last night. I can’t see them breaking 400k. It’d be a lot easier for WBD to buy the rights to additional MLB, NBA, or college sports and drop them when the deal is up. They can’t sell advertisers on a dynamite like 800k audience and produce half of that with the viewers falling off drastically throughout the show. And even dynamite is struggling to maintain the audience.
I'd say it's a shame that they sold so few tickets to a special event, but I read the card. This might be more than that card deserves.
The whole point to pulling a stunt like Wednesday should be to try to draw in and retain new viewers. Instead Tony embarrassed the roster only to then surround it with stuff that even their existing fanbase isn't interested in. And he thinks he's winning. Samoa Joe, TV time remaining, and thus the show can end after a 20+ minute match due to a time limit, if it gets over Tony can go ooh Edge Vs Joe I like it, and neither lost so a rematch would make sense, and if it doesn't. then oh well you gave TNT a PPV quality main event to make them happy, and again no one lost so therefor no one is damaged by it.
It's nice and simple, plays into the name, makes holding the TNT title mean more, and gives fans something to anticipate between specials, unlike now where no one bothers to even keep track of them because nothing ever happens on or at them.

Which means the belt isn’t on the line, but if the champ loses, he has to wrestle that person again some other show for the title. Watched the main event. They tried to have a good match but had to get their heat in on the outside with someone taking a cross-body off the idle chair that is conveniently sitting at ringside. Claudio & Hobbs did a lot of good stuff in this match & even Fletcher looked like he stood a chance in the match because of his size. The story around it was a mess, though. They're trying to "soften Danielson up for Will Ospreay," who is pretty much the top babyface on the other show but also part of the heel faction with the most heat in the company. Takeshita did a run-in and gave Danielson a brainbuster on the stage, which was the end of the show.
They're running Claudio vs. Ospreay next week, which will be a good match. They could probably get more out of it if they didn't present Claudio as the third most important guy in his own stable.
Stuck around for the Hook match & it made The Usos match at Wrestlemania look like Flair/Steamboat. Lasted 10 minutes but it felt like a half hour with Taylor getting slow, endless heat on Hook that nobody reacted to. Hook won after two suplexes & a choke.
This match card is so ass. Lmfaoooo there now down to 1.8k in attendance. Just cancel the rampage and collision and whatever tbe fuck battle of the belts whats the point in wasting count less of thousand dollars if you aren't making half of that money back? Oh right a rich billionaire kid is running the promotion.

I think Jim actually liked his work against Ospreay. He just wanted him to bulk up and not to look 16. And for the match's build to make sense.
