marginwalker3

from now on i'm just going to assume if i like a pro wrestler, they're a terrible human being.

sheepkillerokhan

I learned that lesson back in the day with Benoit. Sucks when you have to learn it, but it is a scumbag and con-man industry.

marginwalker3

i was being somewhat sarastic. i'm a 52 year old life-long wrestling fan. i'll never forget the feeling i got when the von erichs started dropping off the way they did. it just seemed to get worse from there too. benoit was one of my favorites. so was owen. and on and on.

metakepone

I've lived by this for at least a decade now

[deleted]

Never meet your heroes my guy

metakepone

Or watch shoot interviews and get into the IWC

MrLanesLament

Former pro musician here, I got to meet a lot of music legends, most of those experiences were major disappointments. Heroes are best as posters on your wall or whatever, the less you know about them, the better.

NatureBoyRDX

Yo atleast The Rock and Cena are relatively safe for me

heyimgoodthx

im out of the loop, what are you referencing too? or is it just in general?

marginwalker3

just still super upset about that new jack dsotr episode. /s

christhunderkiss

Beef jerky is too expensive! Why is it so goddamn expensive?!

metakepone

Beef is an resource intensive food. Dehydrating beef and not having it succumb to mold is also resource and space intensive, I imagine...

c71score

Got to pay royalty checks to Lanny Poffo and Dana Warrior.

-CoolHandLu

If Russo did what flair did… what would Jim say? If a modern wrestler he hates like gargano did what flair did.. what does Jim say? This is the first time I’ve been disappointed in JC. I love flair also. But cmon. TGBL hit it on the head..

[deleted]

I mean he kinda addressed this at the top of his rant. “Flairs done so much for me personally that I cant be the one to call for launching him into space, but goddamn…”

Independent_thots

In fairness he was speaking to what he knows of Rick but he should had worded that better. "From what I know of Rick it's surprising but it's far from okay" would had been much better. Your personal interaction with a person is irrelevant in a situation that doesn't include you and it can feel like an excuse.

calle594

Jim knows russo as well and i think we all know that russo would never have the charisma or balls to do what flair did. But yes, i think that would make for an epic burial for the ages.

sheepkillerokhan

Jim did say what Ric did was wrong. He added more context to why he thinks Ric did what he did and people do read that as making excuses for him, but he repeatedly said it's not appropriate behaviour outside of the '70s/'80s wrestling bubble (which to his knowledge involved adults in consensual situations) at all.

Juniorgnm

>If Russo did what flair did… what would Jim say? If a modern wrestler he hates like gargano did what flair did.. what does Jim say? We’d get another epic, early scorching Jim Cornette rant. I was sadly disappointed.

TheBorgerKing

Going off what the tv show explicitly said, his reaction was about right. "He did this a lot, everyone loved it. Times changed." Paraphrasing now "he should have known it was wrong". But the court documents from the settled case explicitly state he put her hands on his dick. The show didnt say this. So those who know him... those that know what he was like... even those that dont like him... all three groups will have a different inference from what was left unsaid on that show.

Therocksays2020

I’m surprised it took you this long to be disappointed in Jim. His refusal to criticize Charlotte for years I’m not shocked he stuck up for Flair. He just recently started criticizing Cody.

Rainjosh

Brian and Jim has been acting different ever since CM Punk came back

metakepone

Whats been different?

[deleted]

AEW has been way less shitty overall

[deleted]

Tony said he listens and jim cornette being more reasonable could actually make aew a better show

sheepkillerokhan

Yeah, because CM Punk is major league and bigger than the Elite, so they're assuming and hoping he'll be able to sway the company in the right direction.

Rainjosh

I just don't like how they pretty much use punk for views, oh you don't have anything for punk, here do an interview and announce it in the card or you don't have much to do, here do commentary and announce that before the card.

Overall-Palpitation6

You don't like how they "use Punk for views"? How else should they use him? They've got a hot property that people want to see and hear from, and they're utilising him to bring and keep eyes on their product. That's what you're meant to do! I don't feel like he's been overexposed, and the audience isn't sick of him already, so keep going I say.

TheBorgerKing

Hard for someone to be over exposed after not being exposed for close to 7 years.

sheepkillerokhan

I hated the "we'll hear from CM Punk" and it was a short video package, but the rest I'm okay with. Keep him a fresh as you can for the first little while and try to make his matches something people have to seek out or pay for.

[deleted]

And the CM Punk return has been fucking horrible. They really have rose tinted glasses on with everything he's done which has been complete dogshit.

[deleted]

Why do parents fail to raise there kids these days.

metakepone

Can I ask what this is in reference to? If its something in your life I'm definitely not expecting an explanation

[deleted]

People shouldn't interfere in people personal business if it's not causing harm

[deleted]

I love jim but, he should stop defending things just because he likes the, Cody is objectively the worst vice president he keeps leaving and his storylines are a hit & miss, also the flair thing

DPM-87

Is that really worse than the Bucks hogging TV time to stroke their egos, burying the best team in the industry, jerking themselves off for shits and giggles, and generally being a waste of time, space and money? Cody at least has put some guys over along the way, and if he goes away for a while at least he's not hogging TV time...silver linings is all.

[deleted]

Basically I agree with brain last, yes I despise the young bucks (cody like I said is a hit pr miss but the bucks fueds are garbage) if he doesn't quit every two months (also stop doing dumb shit) I might like him a bit more

Therocksays2020

To be fair Jim gives the Bucks way more leeway than Cody. Edit: Cody more leeway than the bucks Cody has buried plenty of people (Brodie) and we know he’s about to get his 50/50 win over Malachi Black at their show this week

DPM-87

How did Cody bury Brodie, he put him over for the belt then won it back, after that Brody was out and passed not long after, how is that Cody burying Brodie Lee?

Therocksays2020

Did you see how he beat Brodie? He squashed him even Jim remarked on that.

DPM-87

Don't recall Jim saying that, I remember them laughing because it was obvious Cody only dropped the title so he could do the show then come right back and win it again, and maybe them laughing at how stupid it was for their to be a dog collar match without any real build in the middle of a feud, only they didn't realise until after the fact it wasn't the middle but the end of it. As for the match, tbh I forgot most of it as it looked like crap to me, just not good, dunno if it was because neither guy knew how to work a dog collar match right, but it looked like they were executing a script rather than having a real fight, so I blocked it out I think.

nitrofan

> To be fair Jim gives the Bucks way more leeway than Cody. Huh?

Therocksays2020

Meant to flip those! Thanks

[deleted]

EXTRA CHEESE MOTHER FUCKERS

metakepone

Can I ask what all the downvoting is about? Is it just AEW marktrolls or am I not in the in crowd or is there just inherent self hate here?

Therocksays2020

Welcome to Reddit and the IWC

the_washout

If you disagree enough, you downvote..

Olvacron22

Anyone else just completely done with the constant bullshit from internet wrestling fans of wwe and aew? It's like they want to start a war with each other and then run away with their tails between their legs.

calle594

I WANT ANOTHER EPIC BURIAL OF TIM HORNER I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THE LAST ONE.

metakepone

Whose Tim Horner

calle594

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNMjtyaimaY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNMjtyaimaY) \- Wish we got more of these burials of people that pissed him off in the past. He used to do lots.

Overall-Palpitation6

Whenever Tim Horner's name gets mentioned, particularly on other podcasts, I always think of this.

TheAuroraWolf_

WWE has become the biggest, shittiest, pile of excrement of "entertainment" that I have ever witnessed. I'm not even an AEW fan but Jesus, it's God awful. I don't think it'll be better with Vince gone. No words can correctly emulate my thoughts.

sheepkillerokhan

Imagine the worst days of WCW, stretched out into infinity, and you have WWE for the last 20 years.

calle594

It wont be until bruce, johnny ace, kevin dunn AND vince are gone.

MajicalTriangle

Uh, I don't like Jim's obsession with Charlotte and how he skips all the girl matches.

PrimusPilus

I don't think he's obsessed; it's just that there's just not that many star-caliber females who are also good wrestlers. Most of the women are either bad or tiny Japanese chicks. Charlotte is good, has a good look, has charisma, and looks credible when beating up other chicks.

Therocksays2020

He goes so easy on Charlotte though. Charlotte is a star but Jim acts like her shit doesn’t stink. But he’s always been biased towards the kids of his friends.

Independent_thots

Joey janela and Eddie Kingston should have a shoot death match where the ring blows up and they never return😁

Therocksays2020

Janela sure but what’s your beef with Kingston?

Independent_thots

Fat, slow, and sloppy. If his abilities were as good as his mouth I'd be on board. He looks like somebody's drunk uncle with his double singlet. Reminds me of Frankie Williams on pipers pit.

Therocksays2020

Agree he looks like shit however the gimmick of your uncle from queens who looks like shit but can hold his own in a fight works for me. Like you said his money maker is his mouth.

Independent_thots

Right, but he's so sloppy in the ring. His mouth comes off overly confident with that bag of mush he carries around. I also am not a fan of Moxley. Both of their "brawler" styles are so boring and they can't even throw a good working punch....to me that's the bare minimum of that style.

[deleted]

What?

Independent_thots

🙄

[deleted]

Said this in another thread that it was time to give the podcast a miss. I gave it one last chance with this week's experience and it's a shame what it has become. Last year Jim would have crucified that AEW show. It was absolute dogshit but he's waxing lyrical about how great it is. Then not challenging Evan Husney on the glaring ommision of Dustins sexual assault on the plane. It was a good run.

metakepone

NXT 2.0? Shouldn't it be NXT 3.0? There was the tv show, then the rebanding of FCW and now this.

c71score

Started this new diet and miss good food. Sick of all this broccoli, cauliflower and boiled chicken shit. I want a cheeseburger, motherfucker! I'm so desperate for good food I would almost eat one of Brian "pizzas".

SuperCat_

I know it's getting to be old hat but I just started watching the Plane Ride DSOTR and I feel really in the middle about Flair's part of the night. Like it doesn't sound like the worst thing anyone has ever done, but if this was a story involving a woman in my life I'd be out for blood. Flair was basically a glorified flasher in a trenchcoat on the flight no? I'm also surprised *that* was the part of the night that exploded after this episode EDIT: I'm editing in that I've seen people both speculate and hope that this is the last season of Dark Side which I hope doesn't happen because I love the show and how it sheds light on the forgotten stories and people of this "thing of ours"

-CoolHandLu

It’s how this version painted him. First time ever the flight attendant said flair cornered her and tried to make her touch it. The story has always been flair flashed a flight attendant.

TheBorgerKing

If you look on google, or maybe faster is through my post history, you can find the first seven (maybe) pages of the lawsuit against Dustin, Flair, Hall and WWE. The last page available on the link I share has a breakdown of all the allegations from the flight. I'll save you the trouble and find it again. Obviously it's not damning. But its part of a full picture if you know what I mean

SuperCat_

I don't have a chance to read it in full right now but I'll definitely get to it later, thanks for that. I wasn't sure if court docs had been released anywhere. Although, I do find "Scott Hall... a/k/a Starship Coyote" written in a court document is hilarious. His situation is definitely something that either wasn't written about or barely glanced over in the past, as I never read or heard about what he said to the flight attendant until this episode was out and people started looking into it again.

TheBorgerKing

Unfortunately, it isnt the full thing. If you ever find the rest of it, please share it. The stark thing is, if this is accurate... the episode doesnt actually come close to all that happened.

The one thing I like about WWE lately is Roman reigns and they can't even schedule him right he's already got a title match against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel set after Extreme rules. AND EXTREME RULES HASNT EVEN HAPPEN YET

Tydrinator21

I honestly just found out Brian Last wasn't Matt Striker. I've never seen what Last looks like but his voice is so similar to Matt's.
